almost there
48 hoursThank you as always for reading, voting and commenting and thanks for suggestions. I really appreciate your support but I don't think it would be a good idea to change the pov of the narrator now, that would be kinda awkward to read. I'd also like to know what's going on in Kibum's head but we'll find out some of it later on and a lot is left to your imagination :)

Kibum’s face at being addressed like that is priceless and I’d be laughing really hard if I wasn’t so stressed out by the whole twisted situation. And I can’t believe that we actually just met Donghae-Hyung on a night like this in freaking Mokpo.
“What the ?” Kibum asks his rescuer for the moment forgetting about all honorifics and I’m not sure if he is just annoyed about being mistaken for me or surprised to see our Sonbae.
But Donghae doesn’t mind and noticing us at the door and especially SM’s universal little brother Taemin he looks genuinely happy lets go of Kibum and rushes over to greet us.
Left without his support Kibum immediately slips again on the incredibly slick pavement and goes down with a shriek.
It takes a minute until we’re all safely back inside the station hall and Hyung has sorted out all our names, keeping Taemin in an affectionate half-nelson and apologizing to Kibum for yet again not recognizing him.
“That coat looks really cool on you though”, he tries to make up for his mistake which makes Kibum turn away to be able to facepalm without appearing blatantly rude.
Donghae was never a Super Junior member who was exactly close to us although like pretty much everyone in the company he is really fond of Taemin. But out here on our own and in this desperate situation I feel incredibly grateful to meet someone we know.
I can’t help but thinking of him as “Fishy-Hyung” since I once heard Kyuhyun referring to him like that. It seems weirdly apt and I think he doesn’t mind being called that.
“I’m here to pick up my Dad”, he says when we finally get around talking about the purpose of being at Mokpo station in the first place. “Didn’t you know this is my hometown? I'm here for a short holiday and my Dad's coming home from a fishing-trip to see me.”
Actually I didn’t know he was from around here but this might be a twist of fate and hopefully for the better.
“Abu-nim!” Fishy calls to an old man who comes down the steps from the platform above. He must have rode the same train we were on. Talking of coincidence ...
Approaching I can see the family-resemblance between Donghae and his father and it’s not just the looks, he greets us with a friendly smile and immediately invites us to come to his place.
“That’s really kind of you”, I say, “but we have some urgent business right now.”
“You got a schedule here of all places?” Fishy asks back surprised.
“Well, not actually a schedule, but we’re really in a hurry, we’ll explain later”, Minho says with due respect.
“You won’t find a taxi in this weather”, the father says, “so maybe we can at least take you wherever you need to go.”
“Yeah sure”, Donghae agrees, “let me just get the car. I got ice tires put up.”
I can hardly believe our luck. Seeing my astonished facial expression Fishy’s father laughs and says: “This weather isn’t exactly unusual here, so we’re prepared.”
When Fishy is gone his father turns serious and asks:
“Now what exactly is going on here?”
We’re all taken aback and Jjong claims:
“Well, nothing really ...”
“Son”, the old man says, “don’t tell me you’re just on a merry field trip tonight in this weather and with your packed schedules. Besides I’ve seen the news and a bit more than that.”
“What’s on the news?” Taemin blurts out before we can stop him.
“Apart from the kidnapped little boy police is now looking for another five boys that are rather famous and who seem to be involved.”
Before we even think of how to convince him that it’s not us who did the kidnapping Donghae’s father wipes it away with a gesture and says:
“I know you didn’t do it. I’m not stupid. Besides I’ve been a police inspector for more than 30 years and although I’m retired now that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten all about policing. And since the boy’s family isn’t wealthy and the five of you mysteriously disappeared it wasn’t hard to conclude that you probably got a ransom call.”
I feel like a little kid right now. Of course the police would come to this conclusion easily and we haven’t been answering calls all day. We've been idiots from the start. Minho was right, we should have told the police immediately. Not only have we hindered them but we almost killed ourselves getting here. And it's all my fault ... again. My knees buckle and I collapse together with Jjong who tries to catch me. I can’t believe I pass out for the second time in one day.
When I come to again I’m sitting squeezed in between Taemin and Minho in the backseat of what looks like an off-road kind of car. I feel really sick and when I start retching Minho passes me a bag that he obviously used for the same purpose before. That makes it easier.
Kibum mumbles something like “ing hell” in the second row of seats in front of us that he shares with Jonghyun.
I can see Donghae in the driver’s seat, his father next to him.
“Where are we going?” I ask weakly.
“Samhakdo-Docks, of course”, Jonghyun grumbles, “we’ll pull through with it.”
Minho fills me in on the conversation they had with Fishy’s father while I was out of order. The old man was strictly against us meeting the kidnappers ourselves but given the situation that most of the police force are still busy with the consequences of the weather he agreed that we might as well go to the rendezvous-point and decide how to proceed on the way.
When I look at my watch it’s 09:40 already and Fishy catching my frightened glance in the back-mirror says: “Don’t worry, we’re almost there.”
