arrow 7: mistaken identity!

Jessica marched up to the person that looked so, so much like the person that annoyed her the most in the world (at the moment).

She was filled with irritation just from looking at the figure, and got even more irritated after spotting her baby sister with this person!

Sica wasn't having it!

"Yah, what do you think you're doing, talking to Soojung, you stupid baffoon?" asked Jessica, done with her march. Now she was face to face.

And then she realized her mistake as she stared at the face; she heard Krystal let out an exasperated sigh.

At this point, the rest of SNSD walked over towards the unfolding scene, staring in interest.

"Unnie, what have I said about accosting my friends?"

Jessica gaped, mouth completely open, staring blankly at the hurt look on the person's face. She couldn't even talk; her mind wasn't allowing her to formulate any sentences.

The hurt look stayed on the person's face, and Jessica didn't look like she was going to stop staring anytime soon.

And was still open.

So Krystal was going to take things into her own hands. "Unnie, please close  your mouth. It's gross."

Jessica finally closed , but pouted and muttered, "Don't look then."

Krystal rolled her eyes again, while Jessica started a new investigation on the person besides Soojung. She stepped closer to the figure, with only a foot in distance away.

"You look...so much like him though..." she mumbled, starting to poke and prod at the person's face.

Her mind could finally figure out the differences in looks, but it was still having trouble processing.

As Jessica was pinching the person's face, Krystal announced, "Meet my friend, Amber Liu."

Hands still on Amber's face, Jessica commented, "Amber is a pretty girly name for a guy."

Sulli, who was quiet up until this point started giggling. Not even Krytal could hide her smile as Jessica looked increasingly confused.

"What's so funny?"

"Amber is a girl, unnie." said Krystal, amused.

Jessica processed the statement.

And then her mind was blown. "Oh no way."

Amber smiled sheepishly and said, "Don't worry about it."

"People think hyung is a guy all the time!" piped Sulli, eye- smiling her way into the conversation.

"Wait, hyung?" asked Jessica, bewildered. She moved over to Sulli and started looking her up and down. "Alright, I am not about to be gender confused again."

"Ssul just likes calling Amber her hyung, unnie." Krystal said this in a matter of fact tone, finding amusement in her sister's obvious confusion.

Jessica didn’t say a word, but she was staring at Amber outright, scowling. Her mind didn’t like being confused.

Anyone could feel the awkwardness in the air.

“Sica is at it again.” mumbled Yuri, crossing her arms and making a show of pursing her lips.

“It’s the Sica effect~~” nodded Yoona, replying to Yuri’s comment appropriately, smiling.

At this point, Sulli made an effort to look at her watch, gasp, and whine, “We only have 20 more minutes to walk to school.”

The Sica effect was broken.

“Ssul, it only takes 15 minutes to walk to school. We’ll be fine.” said Krystal, quirking an eyebrow.

Sulli looked at maknae of f(x) and pouted. “Jjung, I like taking my time~”

“She does.” muttered Amber, tugging at her cap as she did so (as to look innocent, no doubt).

“Hey, hyung-“ An indignant Sulli was cut off by a light, airy, and musical voice calling out to Amber; Jessica (and Yoona) recognized the voice in an instant.

“My little Amber!” After a moment of the girls looking for the mysterious voice, the girls realized that the person had (somehow) managed to get near them without any of the girls noticing.

Jessica felt her eyebrow twitch as she saw the person that irritated, and at this moment, creeped her out most. (AN: I wonder why creeped isn’t an official word. I feel like it should be. ._.)

And it was for real this time.

Lee Donghae had made his appearance.

He noticed Jessica immediately after calling out to Amber, and gasped. “It’s you!”

“What about me?” she retorted, glaring.

Yoona cocked her head as she saw the fish, and echoed, “My little Amber?”

Donghae had, at that point, taken notice of all of SNSD, and started stammering as he tried to reply appropriately to Yoona. “W-well, you know, I-I grew up with Amber, so she’s kind of, sort of, but not really my little sister, y-you know?” He ended his explanation with an awkward chuckle, and he really hoped that no one would remember that he stuttered three times.

Yoona seemed to accept this explanation without further thought, and just smiled and greeted him properly with a bright smile and a cheerful “good morning, oppa!” The smile that Donghae gave to her in return made Jessica, who had been tapping her foot in irritation freeze.

And then she realized something that she probably should have realized earlier.

He likes Yoona.

She pursed her lips in disapproval as she thought, “Yoong is way too good for him.” and stared at him critically, thinking of him in a new light. She scanned him from head to toe discreetly, and tsk-ed lightly. “I don’t approve. He’s much too stupid for her.” Jessica was self-satisfied with the outcome she came up with, and caught herself smiling.

Why do I care anyway?

She frowned slightly before shrugging off the feeling, but not without giving one long lasting look to Donghae. And how stupid is he to mistake someone else as his crush then?

Krystal raised an eyebrow at her sister’s suspicious staring, and found herself staring at what Jessica was staring at.

Interested, unnie? She began to laugh quietly, but stopped abruptly. Unnie would freeze me if she knew what I was thinking. She took one last look, just as Jessica had done, at Donghae, and couldn’t help the amused smile that took place on her lips. But it would be interesting if she happened to be interested.

Krystal Jung could already see a plan in the works with this new information.

From there, the group of girls (and Donghae) continued their trek to school peacefully.

Jessica was quiet the rest of the walk, still processing things in her mind, completely absorbed in her own thoughts and in her own world.

If someone asked Tiffany about Jessica’s silence, she would just say that Sleepy Sica did not work well in the morning (because that is what she always says, even when she knows that’s not always true).

If someone asked Donghae why Jessica wasn’t bickering/fighting/insulting him, he would tell that person to just appreciate the silence while they could (even if he thought the silence was a little strange).

If someone asked Krystal, she would say that her sister had an epiphany (because she had her epiphany face on, but the younger Jung would probably be too absorbed in her own thoughts to answer properly).

And if someone asked Jessica why she was being so quiet, she would just give them a dazed look, and they would think, “Spacing out~ Sica effect~” and be done with it (because that is what she always does, even when she knows that’s not always true).

They had arrived at school without incident.

(Although Sulli did whine about being rushed once or twice.)

“Taeng~” a certain soccer-loving dolphin called this out the moment SNSD and f(x) (and Donghae) stepped onto campus.

Taeyeon recognized the voice immediately and looked at her own personal angel, resisting the urge to squeal. “Junsu oppa~” she returned the greeting with an excited wave as Sunny snickered from behind her. “Real subtle, Taengoo~” whispered Sunny.

“I know you know that you act worse when Sungmin oppa is around.” retorted Taeyeon, sticking out her tongue playfully as Sunny gasped adorably.

“Take it back, Taeng! No one can get as obvious as you!” Sunny’s voice was filled with aegyo as she talked, just because she knew that Taeyeon couldn’t take it.

“There’s your aegyo that calls for a punch…” muttered Taeyeon. Sunny smiled brightly at her best friend in response and said, “I’ll stop now, since oppa is here~”

“Which oppa?” asked Taeyeon, clueless.

Now, when Junsu had greeted her, he had been ways off and a safe distance away from them, so they could talk as they please.

But as Taeyeon turned to look in the direction of Junsu, she was met face-to-face (face-to-shoulder?) with duck himself.

To her credit, she held down her shocked shriek very well. “Oppa!”

Sunny smirked as she looked pointedly from Taeyeon to Junsu, and said her greeting. “Good morning Junsu oppa~~~” She couldn’t help her smile as she continued to look back and forth between Junsu and Taeyeon.

Taeyeon frowned as she realized two things: one, Sunny was making things awkward and two, she was amused by the awkwardness.

He laughed his dolphin laugh (AKA Taeyeon’s favorite laugh in the world) and greeted her with a very friendly good morning in return. “Hey Sunny, if you don’t mind, could I borrow Taeyeon for a bit?”

Sunny smiled mischievously and made a shoo-ing motion with her hands. “Sure, take her~ Keep her if you want~”

Before Taeyeon could spit out a remark about betrayal, Junsu put both hands on her shoulders and chirped a “Great! I’ll return her in a couple minutes then!” and proceeded to steer her out of the way.

Well, he tried to steer her out of the way anyway. But Taeyeon wasn’t moving. Why? Because her brain shut down the moment he put her hands on her shoulders. He frowned as he pushed her forward lightly, with little success.

There was an awkward silence between Junsu and Sunny then as they stared at Taeyeon blankly for a moment before Junsu smiled sheepishly. “I think that means she wants to stay here.”

Taking the hint, Sunny made the “shoo-“ motion towards herself and cheerfully said, “Got it!” As Sunny was making her exit, Junsu called out to her and said quite cheekily, “By the way, your boyfriend is looking for you.”

She turned back, confused, and asked, “What boyfriend?”

He looked at her innocently (he was the epitome of innocence, I swear) and asked, “Oh, isn’t Sungmin your boyfriend?”

The aegyo queen felt herself blush and mutter something incoherent before she left (resisting the urge to show Junsu a vulgar hand gesture) and walked off. Junsu laughed as she left, and he saw Taeyeon smirking at the scene.

“I guess she’s back on Earth now.” mused Junsu. He turned her so that she was facing him and asked in a solemn voice, “Taeyeon, I have something to ask you.”

Taeyon felt herself blink furiously for five seconds before feeling like she was going to hyperventilate.

Is he going to ask me to be his girlfriend? Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!

“Ask me what?” She sure hoped that she sounded calmer to him than she did to herself.

She didn’t even realize it, but she was staring at him intently, hands clasped in anticipation.

“I bet she doesn’t even realize that she’s looking at me like that.” mused Junsu. He coughed once, breaking that thought process, and proceeded to ask, “Do you know what’s up with Leeteuk hyung?”

Her hands unclasped automatically, the light in her eyes dimmed slightly, and she looked at him curiously.

“Something’s wrong with Leeteuk oppa?”

Nice going, Taeng. You totally saw that coming. Instead of asking you out, he asks about another guy instead!

She could vaguely hear another voice in her head (that sounded suspiciously like Sunny) saying, “Wow, you at sarcasm.” She felt herself scowl.

But what could be wrong with Leeteuk oppa?

Krystal had left Sulli and Amber when she reached the school to go walk to her locker, but realized that it was not a smart idea to go alone.

As she was walking, minding her own business, hands suddenly covered her eyes as she was pulled into a warm body. She felt her body go rigid as she tried to remember what Jessica taught her in regards to kicking . “You have the right to remain silent.” She head a voice say from in front of her.

She cocked her head at that, and muttered, “What?” before realizing what this was. She knew that voice. “Taemin oppa, you don’t say that when you’re kidnapping someone, you say it when you’re a cop when you arrest someone.” informed Krystal, tone flat and arms crossed. “And you can let go now, Minho oppa.”

She heard her captor groan and the person in front whine as hands were removed from her face. “Taemin, you ruined it!” complained Minho from his stance behind her.

The maknae of SHINee raised his hands in his own defense and declared shamelessly, “I thought it was the right thing to say!”

As Minho and Taemin bickered back and forth (with Minho blaming Taemin and Taemin defending himself) over the failed “assault”, Krystal couldn’t help but smile at the ridiculousness of these two oppas.

Before long, she was giggling to herself and they looked at her curiously. Krystal looked up at her two favorite oppas in the world and all she did in retaliation was smile. She smiled such a smile that was so bright, so endearing, and so damn Soojung that they couldn't help but return the smile (even if they both didn’t quite understand why she was smiling like that).

This was her power, her charm.

When she smiled, it was hard not to return the present (and for Choi Minho and lee Taemin, it was almost damn near impossible to ignore).

Little did she know though, that her power was a little too strong, and her charm worked a little too well.

On those two oppas in particular.

(She had them wrapped around her pretty little finger, and she didn't even know it.)

And that power and charm was something that would later be able to cause a break in their peaceful little circle of "Minho, Taemin, and Soojung".

Of years of friendship.

Hi~ So in the last chapter, I said that I was going to reveal the musical, talk more about Teukie, and reveal more about Donghae. If you got to here, then you've already realized that I have obviously lied. >< I am sorry~ but I promise that next chapter will reveal more~ And I know that progression is slow between the characters (forgive me!) but we're getting there! And yay, I've started on my final (...?) main love triangle! :D Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! <3
