Ten Things AFF Taught Me
I know there's a month left until the actual anniversary, but these just popped into my mind today and I don't want to forget it all.
1. Be careful what you post, for one day, looking back, you might feel extremely embarassed.
2. Editing's a pain, but it's more than worth it.
3. There are people who don't even know how to spell 'edited' and who are considered (and consider themselves to be) some kind of writing gods. The best way to deal with it is laugh it off and continue writing.
4. Personal life drama interests no one but one's really close friends, so it's best not to shove it up everyone's throats.
5. Who you are in real life probably doesn't matter at all on a site like this.
6. People like to whine more than actually do something.
7. The world would be a much happier place if people could take criticism, stop bashing and help each other out instead of lashing at each other.
8. There's a lot of work behind even the simplest features that we use. Let's be thankful, not spolied brats.
9.A heartfelt comment is worth a thousand views.
10. My AFF stuff always goes mostly unnoticed. Thus, if I ever publish something (and I hope that time will come as soon as I'm ready), I won't expect to be the next J.K. Rowling right away, but wait and work harder. For that, I am extremely grateful.
I've been a member since the days of black and white AFF. It's changed a lot, but I changed a lot too. It grew, and with it, so did I. Happy soon-to-come anniversary, AFF. See you there in another 5 years.
