Chapter 1
The Pink Tie
This stupid computer refuses to work and not only will it refuse to work but everything is in Korean. I have a class in fifteen minutes and it will most likely take me ten minutes to get there. If I can't get this computer to print out my speech in five seconds I think I'm going to punch a whole in the monitor.
"Shilehajiman…I…uh…" I turned to the person trying to print something next to me before I had a moment to remind myself that I haven't learned anything about computers in my Korean Language class I have been taking all semester. "…print?"
"Mianeyo," he says and then turns back his computer and finishes his business.
Every single time I open up Google Chrome and manage to copy my speech out of my e-mail it freezes before I have a chance to paste it into Word to print it. I chose the wrong computer. I always choose the wrong computer. The boy next to me leaves and I jump onto his.
Oh. Of course the Korean gets the computer thats operating in English. How is that even fair?
Now I am operating two computers. This one seems to be working. As soon as I see the other computer begin to function I exit out of my e-mail. A screen filled with Korean pops up. Oh, I suppose this is a force quit screen. I'll just click this…nope! That's not it. If this was my own computer I could just shut it down the improper way. Screw it.
I manage to print my speech and as I wait for the man behind the print counter to get my sheet I turn and notice everything force quit appropriately. Thank God. The man hands me my paper with a strange look on his face and the paper of course has the wrong thing printed on it. My g-mail homepage that happens to be a photo of TOP has been printed for me with my speech in small print laying over it. It's all in black and white though so of course I can't make any of it out. I pay him his fifty won and rush out of the store. Great, I have an illegible speech printed on a photo of TOP. That'll be cute to show to my professor.
