Branded ・ As ・ y o u r sChapter Twenty Four Once Again
Chanyeol was the perfect gentleman.
Not only did he stick to his word and not bring up any of the paranormal drama I was involved in, but he also helped me forget about it all, at least for a little while as we played in the arcade.
"I better get home." I sighed as the night drew on and the time on my cell read 12.30am.
I'd stayed out longer than I'd planned.
"Ah right of course." He nodded, his arm raised so he could rub the back of his neck. "Um... Here, you can have this."
With his free hand he held out the giant puppy teddy he'd won in Kim's Amusements, it's fur a beautiful golden brown and it's eyes shining blue orbs. A husky, I remembered from when I was living back in America. My old neighbors used to have one.
"Oh, no I couldn't-"
"Of course you can." He smiled "It's that or I take it home and have D.O steal it from me."
"D.O?" I echoed.
"Do Kyungsoo. So here, take it!" He the giant plush at me and I had no option but to take it. "And cheer up, Hana. Things will get better."
"I hate that saying; things will get better. Of course they will, but then everything always goes back to being worse."
"Don't think like that." He frowned. "Bad things happen to those who think badly. You gotta be positive, okay?"
"What's there to be positive about right now, Chanyeol? Demons? Your secret little group of Hunters giving me half-truths? Seriously, just what are you guys after? I know you wanna destroy Demons but you must have some higher reasoning other than hatred and your reasoning that their evil, right?"
"I thought we weren't going to talk about that."
"I only said that because I knew you wouldn't tell me anything... Unless you are going to give me some real answers?" He gave me an apologetic smile and I sighed. "Right, like I thought. Goodnight, Chanyeol."
"Shall I walk you home?" He offered quickly.
"I live really close, so it's okay."
"Sure. See ya around, Hana."
I watched his gangly form leave and waved until he vanished into the crowd. Hugging the plushie to my chest I let out a sigh and began to walk the now-familiar streets back to my own apartment block when I noticed a familiar face in the crowd; Dara and Myungsoo's brother from earlier. Eyes wide, I waited as he approached me, his pace as slow as any Human's.
"Why are you still following me?" I asked warily. "Wait, no let me guess... You were listening - because you're always doing that, right." When he didn't answer I rolled my eyes. "What, can't you talk and listen at the same time or something?"
My level of snappiness was through the charts, but my irritation and annoyance at the sight of this man now, of all times, had almost tipped me over the edge. I wanted to scream, shout and hit things... All of which I couldn't do in public. So, massive levels of y attitude would have to do.
"You're very sarcastic." He noted. "It's unsightly in a woman."
"I'm glad you find me unsightly." I muttered. "Shouldn't you be making up with your sister? She seemed upset to see you."
"She has reason to." He smirked and once again, I felt a chill run down my spine.
This man was deadly, maybe even more so than Myungsoo.
"Right well um... I got to go." Turning around I began to rush down the street, my eyes taking in the slowly declining amount of pedestrians the closer I got to the apartment.
No no... Why did I have to stay out so late with Chanyeol! The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end and I couldn't help but risk a glance back... But he was, once again gone. Exhaling I turned back around and came face to face with him once again. My mouth opened in a scream of surprise, but I was silenced by a hand holding a cloth covering my mouth from behind and
