"Hey, Yoon-Hana?"
I looked over at the speaker, but didn't recognise her at all. Just another face among the hundreds in this school I did not recognise and yet, they all seemed to know me. Such was the curse of being the New Girl.
"Um... Yeah?"
"Somebodies looking for you in the courtyard." She shrugged, looking bored.
"Okay, thanks?" I frowned as she walked out of the gym changing rooms.
I wasn't the last one inside, but I may as well have been the way the other girls were avoiding me. Tired of the whispers and, if I was honest, curious about who the 'somebody' was, I took off out of the changing room in my gym gear to the courtyard. Typically, it was empty and I wondered if this had been some sort of elaborate plan to make me late for gym and get in trouble when somebody cleared their throat behind me. I turned around and came face to face with Pretty Girl, Yoona, dressed in her own gym gear. She, of course, made the pale grey polo shirt, black shorts showing off her slender legs and white knee length socks looks glamorous. Just standing opposite her, I felt like a short lump.
"What did you want to talk about?" I asked, a little put off by how close she was standing to me.
"Not here." She looked around. "Follow me.." She began to walk down one of the courtyard paths and I hesitated.
My instincts were screaming at me that this was a bad idea. Everything about it seemed off, but my pride was urging me forward. I couldn't let her think she intimidated me so... I followed.
"Why the secrecy?" I asked keeping my tone bored.
"I don't want your little bodyguard to interrupt."
"Who?" I remembered the incident when we had met. "You mean Dara? She's not my bodyguard."
"It sure seemed that way when she was deciding who you can and can't talk to."
"I think you'll find that was Myungsoo." I laughed bitterly.
YoonA whirled around, her eyes blazing.
"Don't talk about him so casually." She warned, her tone icy.
I raised an eyebrow in surprise. Wow... That was an over exaggeration.
"Whatever." I sighed, looking around and standing still. "I'm not walking any further so you either say what you want to here or I'm leaving."
We were on the narrow pathway at the back of the gym sheds with a metal link fence at the other side that would eventually lead to the football pitch further ahead. YoonA stopped and turned towards me, her expression murderous and I stepped back in suprise.
"You think you're really something, don't you, Jung Yoon-Hana?"
"What?"
"Clinging to Dara and Myungsoo like the little primate you are."
I held up my hands in a surrender gesture.
"Wow wow wow... Hold it right there. First of all, primate? Seriously is that all you can come up with? And secondly, I'm not clinging to anyone. Dara is my friend and Myungsoo... Well, he's her brother. I have nothing at all to do with him."
"Liar!" She screeched, and in a flash she was suddenly standing right in front of me, her hair brushing against my face.
I stumbled away shocked.
"What the- How did you-"
"Cut the crap!" She growled.
As in, literally, she growled. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end and I could feel the goose pimples rising on my arms and exposed legs. I backed further away.
"You think you have me fooled?" She laughed, stalking closer. For a fearful moment I was convinced I saw fangs in . "Because you don't. I know what he's done; I can smell him all over you!"
"What are you talking about?" I demanded frantically. "Smell who?"
"Myungsoo!" She screamed, reaching out.
Her arms shoved my chest with so much force that I was literally lifted off my feet and sent flying back into the metal link fence, where I bounced off and smacked onto the ground in a heap. My adrenaline spiked and despite the various gashes and scrapes on my hands and knees from the fall, I leaped up quickly and took off at a run. I had no idea what was going
