"You look nervous." JiYong grinned that next morning as I stepped out of my apartment.
I did a double take at the sight of him leaning outside, exactly where Myungsoo normally would. Dara stood opposite him, her expression and body rigid. She looked relieved to see me.
"I'm not nervous." I told him truthfully. "Should I be?"
His smile widened and he clapped his hands with a laugh. "You really suprise me sometimes. Here you are, hanging around with Demons calmly. You don't seem scared at all. Why is that?"
"I never said I was calm." I shrugged. "But unless you do something that I should be scared of, I don't see why I should be. You're still people, right?"
He stared at me for a moment, his smile frozen in place until Dara slapped him on the chest, her expression one of warning.
"You. Shut up." She told him. "I thought my brother told you to watch over me discreetly."
"What? And miss out on you and your little Human's inviting company?" She scowled and stormed away from him, hooking her arm through mine like she normally did.
"Let's just go." She muttered. "Hopefully he might get bored of being ignored and leave."
"Doubtful." He added lightly, walking a step behind us.
"Did you get shouted at last night?" She asked me, her expression worried.
"Not as badly as I could have. Look, Dara, I'm sorry for lying-"
"Don't." She interrupted, her expression guilty. "I know why you did it, and I understand completely. I'm just sorry for telling my idiot brother, I should have respected your privacy and not told told him you were gone."
"I'm glad you did." I assured her, giving her arm a squeeze. "Because if you hadn't, who knows what would have happened."
"When will EXO get it into their twisted minds that you don't want to talk to them?" She muttered angrily.
"I'm not sure, but hopefully Myungsoo gave them message loud and clear last night."
I bit my lip, still feeling my curiosity bubbling over Tao's words. Truthfully, I did want to know what he had to say, purely so that I could find out if he did know something I didn't. From what he was asking, from the way he spoke I felt like I was missing out on something big, something important by not talking to him. But I couldn't risk another stunt like last night, especially not now Myungsoo was gone. After we had arrived back at the apartment complex last night and I had climbed off the bike, he had literally driven off without another word. Seeing JiYong this morning had confirmed as much; he'd gone away, like he said he was going to. And he hadn't said goodbye.
Not that I'd wanted him to, but still. It's the polite thing to do, right? It's what neighbours did.
"How's my Trace looking today? Gone completely?" I asked, changing the subject from EXO.
Dara turned and her eyes scanned over me briefly.
"It's pretty much gone. Tomorrow it won't be there at all." She smiled.
I returned it stiffly, my chest squeezing at the thought. Stop it, I chastised myself. It's a good thing that Trace's gone, since it will hopefully calm YoonA down and maybe now everything would go back to normal. I almost laughed at the thought. What was normal for me anymore? It felt like since I'd arrived here in Seoul, my life had been anything but. Baring Myungsoo's Trace had been the norm, having him follow me and Dara around had become something I had gotten used to, too.
But now he'd have no need to keep an eye on me. I was no longer a true threat to Dara.
"You okay?" Dara asked suddenly.
"Yeah, just need my coffee fix." I half lied.
"Let's stop in here then." She offered, already pulling me inside.
We ordered our coffees and as we waited for the barista to make our orders we discussed the festival coming up in our school. Apparently the decisions of making a haunted house has been made long before I had joined, but preparations wouldn't be happening until the exams - which were next week - would be over.
"So... You guys actually do have festivals then, like in the dramas?" I confirmed doubtfully.
So far, all my knowledge of Korean schools were from various k-dramas I used to watch when living in America, and from my time spent here in Seoul I had found that they weren't very accurate.
"We do." Dara confirmed. "And they're really fun to organise after exams.
"And we're doing a haunted house, right? How's that gonna work?"
"Normally we divide it into different sections with different challenges. If they can complete the challenge, they can continue to the next section, and if they complete them all they get a small prize."
"Ooh it sounds cool!" I smiled.
Just then the coffees were ready and we each took them, moving over to the little service counter to add our creams and sugar.
"And we get to dress up, kinda like Halloween. "
"Except the costumes aren't as good, because the sowing club makes them." A new voice announced from my side.
I turn to see a fresh faced, strikingly beautiful girl with long dark, wavy hair, a V shape jawline, double eyelids and tall, slim figure watching us. She was also wearing our school uniform and carrying a cup of coffee, her gaze filled with curiosity as she looked back at me.
"I don't believe we've met." She spoke, cocking her head to the side slightly. "I'm Jung Krystal."
"Her names SooJung, not Krystal." Dara sighed, popping her lid back on her coffee and casting the girl Krystal - SooJung - a withering look. "What do you want?"
"No need for the hostility, Dara." She answered back coolly, her gaze still on me. "I was just introducing myself to the new girl. No harm in that."
"Doing so in your nickname is though." Dara responded, her eyes narrowing. "No matter
