"Would you like to sit with us at lunch?" Kim Taeyeon asked when the bell rang after maths.
I paused with my bag strap half over my head and bit my lip.
"It's just... I know Dara has a fashion club meeting at lunch on Thursday's." She went on, seeing my indecision. "My best friend has it, too, so just thought instead of us both spending lunch alone, we could sit together." She looked nervous.
"No, I'd love too." I grinned, setting my bag down on my shoulder with relief.
She smiled back shyly and rose out her seat. "Great! Do you need to hit the lunch line, or do you bring yours?"
"I brought some lunch."
"Then would you like to eat on the roof?" She asked. "I sometimes go there because its' quieter."
"Are we allowed?" I frowned, following her out of the classroom and up the hall stairs.
"No, but the janitors my uncle so he lets me up." She admitted. "But please don't tell people. Otherwise everyone will be asking me to get them access and then my uncle-"
"Don't worry." I laughed. "Your secrets safe with me."
What was one more secret on top of the millions I seemed to be keeping lately? Taeyeon had been talking to me since I'd first arrived at school a week ago, but I'd always kept my distance, but right now... I really needed normalcy. Dara was indeed in a fashion club meeting and I had strict orders from a very standoffish and distant Myungsoo this morning on the awkward journey to school to sit with him, JiYong and YoonA at lunch.
Not exactly my idea of good company.
So, having lunch with Taeyeon was perfect, especially if her friend also left her during the lunches the fashion club held. At least this way, during them times we would have each others company and I could spend a stress free lunch without Yoona's y comments, glares and JiYong's innuendos which only seemed to piss Dara off. Then there was Myungsoo, who ever since that day a week ago when... Thing had happened (Lord know what it even had been, I still hadn't gotten my mind around it) he had been giving me the cold shoulder.
Alone with Taeyeon on the quiet, secluded roof, I began my peaceful lunch, where we chatted about school work, classroom gossip and then boys.
"I can't believe you actually sit with Kim Myungsoo at lunch." Taeyeon sighed dreamily. "He's so... So..."
"Infuriating?" I muttered.
She shook her head, her eyes wide.
"Perfect! Seriously, he's gorgeous. So is JiYong, but he's such a flirt," She sighed. "And don't even get me started on Dara and Yoona, they're so beautiful. I'm so jealous that you're their friends."
"I'm only friends with Dara." I pointed out, munching on my kim bap. "The rest just sorta come with the deal. Yoona and Myungsoo can't even stand me, and im pretty sure JiYong doesn't like me either."
"Really?" She blurted, before covering with a blush. "Sorry, it just seemed you were all so close, since you sit with them and walk home with them and just... Myungsoo even warned MinHo away rom you!"
"What?" I coughed, choking on my lunch. "That never happened!"
'It's what everyone is saying." She shrugged, handing me a napkin. "Everyone's saying you're off limits, because Myungsoo has already claimed you or something."
"We'll you can tell them the truth! Myungsoo doesn't even like me, and I don't like him! I wouldn't date him if he was the last guy on earth!"
"You're funny." She smiled. "You're probably the only person I know who doesn't want him."
"Believe me, you would hate him too if heard him open his mouth."
"I don't think I could ever hate him." She sighed. "By the way, what are you doing tonight?"
"Tonight? Um, nothing I don't think." Except being babysat by a Demon.
"A few of us are heading to a karaoke bar, if you'd like to join us?" Again I hesitated, turning over the idea in my mind.
I'd love to go, of course, but that would mean taking Dara, which in turn would mean Myungsoo would probably tag along, since he was against Dara doing anything with people other that his appointed friends (ie. JiYong and Yoona). If Myungsoo went, that would mean total carnage. I wasn't blind, I'd seen the way the girls fawned over him at school and even those from different schools would often take pictures and follow him when we was walking to school. In a confined space at a karaoke bar I was afraid the girls would all hyper ventilate or go completely fan-girl
