Branded ・ As ・ y o u r sChapter Fourteen First Mistakes
"Look I know what you're gonna say, so let's just skip the lecturing and go home. It's freezing." I sighed, crossing my arms.
I couldn't look him in the eye.
"Fine." He agreed.
My head jerked towards him in shock, but he already had his back to me as he stalked off, his back rigid. I followed after him and we walked in silence through the city, his footsteps so quick I had to half jog half speed walk to keep up. The silence was beginning to kill me. Never had I spent so much time with Myungsoo without an argument, without some sort of sarcastic comment... This silence was worse than if he had screamed at me. I opened my mouth to ask him his deal when he finally spoke.
"Tomorrow I'm going away. If you pull a stunt like this while I'm gone they'll be no one to rescue you, so I suggest you think before agreeing to something like this again.”
"Who said I even needed you to rescue me?" I retorted out of reflex.
Of course I did. Tonight I had been stupid to leave with a guy I didn't know, and then allowed said guy to lead me to somewhere I had no idea where I was. I had brought what happened tonight on myself with my overly trusting actions, but I wouldn't make the same mistake twice.
“Good" He answered back simply.
I frowned at his calm attitude. Where was the shouting, the glaring and sarcastic retorts?
"How long will you be gone for?" I asked. I could see his shoulders lift in a shrug.
"A week, maybe two. JiYong will be keeping an eye out on Dara when she’s with you, but don’t expect him to save you if you make stupid decisions like tonight. He has no interest in helping you." I cringed at the reminder of my stupidity and also JiYong’s irrational hatred towards me.
Myungsoo was right, there was no way JiYong would have come and helped me.
"Tonight won't happen again." I assured him.
He stopped suddenly, causing me to almost crash into the back of him. As I looked up to ask him what was wrong, he whirled around and grabbed me, his hands on either side of my face. I blinked, stunned at the intensity of his gaze, the set of his jaw and the way his hands held me, causing my skin to heat up and tingle, my stomach erupting in a whirlwind of butterflies. He wasn’t just mad, though his eyes were narrowed at me. He also seemed... Worried?
"You're damn right it won't!" He snapped, clenching his jaw. "Do you have any idea what I went through when Dara informed me you were missing? Do you have any idea how difficult it was to find you with my Trace so weak?"
I opened and closed my mouth, lost for words. Myungsoo, apparently, didn't have a problem finding his.
"I searched everywhere. The only reason I found you was because I ran into TaeYeon randomly, who drunkenly informed me my 'girlfriend' had left the party with another man. Do you have any idea what was going through my mind when she told me that, Hana?" I shook my head mutely, thrown at the word ‘girlfriend’ spoken through his lips when discussing me. "I thought you'd be drunk, that I'd find you being molested by an equally drunk man or worse."
I cringed at the harshness of his words. I was trembling, unable to form a sentence. What he was saying, what his words were implying... Did he... Care?
"Why did you do it?" He demanded, his hands dipping from my face to my shoulders lightly.
"Because..." I cleared my suddenly constricted throat. "Because I wanted a moment to myself. I wanted to feel normal."
"Getting drunk with a bunch of idiots is what you call normal?" He sneered, his hands dropping away from me completely. He took a step back and shook his head in disgust. "See, this is why I don't like Dara hanging out with girls like you. Even without the whole Demon thing setting us apart, you're all the same. You only care about fitting in; getting drunk and having a '
