A/N: I got a chance to update! And it took less than a month! ᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏ You know, the chapter is always pretty long on Microsoft Word...but it seems shorter when I actually post it...*shrugs*
Oh and by the way, here are the full lyrics and translation to Jaehwa's song:
---8---
Immediately after the release, Jaehwa’s handphone started ringing furiously. She let out a sigh, preparing for what was on the other line. It’s probably going to be something like ‘Why didn’t you tell us about this?’ she predicted.
”Yoboseyo?” she answered the phone.
“WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL US ABOUT THIS?!” Dongwoon shrieked across the line.
She shook her head in amusement. “Sajangnim told me not to tell. Sorry, oppa!”
“Sorry? Aish!” Dujun’s irritated voice came from the background, “I nearly got a heart attack when I saw your picture on the screen!”
Jaehwa laughed and said in reply, “Orders are orders.”
She heard him huff in mock annoyance as Gikwang took over the phone. “Jaehwa! You sound great! Congratulations! I can’t wait to see your debut performance!”
“Finally, some positive words,” she joked sarcastically, “Oh, thanks for giving those lyrics to sajangnim. You gave me my big break.”
“Oh, that wasn’t all me. Yoseob was the one who told me to show them to him.”
The girl was speechless. “Really?” she asked for confirmation, “Is he there right now?”
This time it was Junhyung who answered. “No, he left right before we called you. He said he had to go somewhere.”
Probably with IU, she thought to herself.
Ding Dong! Jaehwa looked at the door confusedly. Who would be here at this hour? “Someone’s at the door. I’ll have to call you back later, okay?”
“Okay!” Dongwoon exclaimed at the same time Dujun cried out, “I’m not done talking with you, Son Jaehwa!”
The girl laughed and hung up, standing to answer the door. “Yes?” she asked over the intercom.
“Jaehwa, it’s me.”
Jaehwa recognized the voice immediately. “What are you doing here?”
“Just let me in. I need to talk to you.”
The girl unlocked and opened the door, swinging it open to reveal an expressionless Yang Yoseob. A tense silence filled the air as they looked at each other. “Why are you here? It’s so late!” she scolded.
“Why don’t you call me oppa anymore?”
“That’s not an answer.”
“Neither is that.”
Once again, the conversation came to a standstill. She sighed, running her fingers through her hair. “Really, what are you doing here?”
Yoseob hesitated for a second before saying quietly, “I want to apologize. I was a jerk to you that day in the practice room.”
“Look, I’m over that already,” the younger girl lied.
“No, you aren’t. There’s something else, isn’t there? You haven’t talked to me since the awards ceremony!”
“That’s because I haven’t had anything to talk about with you!”
“What do you mean by that?!”
Jaehwa stared him straight in the eyes, unable to tear away from his brown irises. “Yoseob, don’t make this any harder than it already is.”
“What are you talking about? What’s wrong?”
She shook her head. “You wouldn’t understand. Yoseob, please go. I have a busy day tomorrow, and I need to rest.”
“Jaehwa, what did I do?!”
“Sorry, Yoseob,” she said before closing the door, leaning her back against it.
“Something’s up, Jaehwa! I’m going to find out! We’ve known each other for years! I’ll figure it out eventually!” he shouted before storming away.
Jaehwa slid to the floor, pulling her knees up to her chest. “I know you will. That’s what I’m afraid of,” she whispered.
