Yoseob slammed the door shut when he returned to the dorm hours later.  He had waited over an hour for his girlfriend and then spent the rest of his time wandering around the city.  The members looked up at him in surprise.  “Yoseob, what are you doing here?” Hyunseung spoke up.

Yoseob looked at him with narrowed eyes.  “What?” he shot back sharply.  “I can’t even come home now?”

Dujun placed a firm hand on the younger’s shoulder.  “Calm down, Yoseob,” he warned.  “Aren’t you supposed to be at Cube?  Didn’t you get my message?”

“What message?  I turned my phone off,” Yoseob muttered, throwing his cell phone onto the couch.

“Aish,” the leader groaned, running a hand through his hair, making it stick up in all directions.  “Jaehwa is still at Cube waiting for you so you guys can practice!”

The main vocal’s eyes widened in realization.  He cursed and snatched his phone out of Hyunseung’s outstretched hand before rushing out of the dorm.

Dujun tilted his head in amusement, glancing over at the members still sitting around in bewilderment at Yoseob’s sudden entrance and exit.  He chuckled, collapsing next to Hyunseung on the couch and picking up the remote.  “What should we watch?” the leader asked casually as he flipped through the various channels.

On the subway, Yoseob scanned through his messages, his sunglasses making it slightly difficult to see the screen.  He skipped IU’s apologetic text messages, not in the mood to speak with her after she stood him up.  Instead, he opened Dujun’s frantic text that was sent earlier.

You have practice with Jaehwa soon.  Where the hell are you?!

Yoseob shook his head, deleting all of his messages whether he had read them or not.  He then sent a brief text to Jaehwa, telling her he was on his way.

The idol leaned back against one of the seats, his hood and sunglasses covering his face to avoid any unwanted attention.  A sudden jolt of the train caused him to stumble forward, but he quickly regained his footing.

Approximately fifteen minutes later, Yoseob found his way through the familiar hallways until he reached the correct floor.  However, he had no idea which room Jaehwa was waiting in.

Yoseob huffed in frustration, reaching out for the first doorknob to check inside.  He poked his head through the doorway, surveying the room.  Empty.

After searching the eighth room, Yoseob cursed Cube for making so many hallways and rooms.  He was about to give up and just call Jaehwa.  Why didn’t I just do that before? he grumbled, his bad mood still not ceasing.

Finally, to his relief, the Beast member heard a muffled female voice singing.  He pumped his fist into the air in celebration before composing himself and pushing open the door.

The back of Hyuna’s head faced him as she carefully monitored her friend’s performance.  When she heard Yoseob enter, she whipped around, eyes narrowed.  “What took you so long?” she hissed, smacking the back of his head with her hand.  “Jaehwa’s been practicing nonstop.  I can’t get her to take a break.”

Yoseob clenched his teeth in disbelief, rubbing his head.  “She’ll strain her voice if she continues for any longer!” he exclaimed before barging into the recording room.

Jaehwa stopped immediately at the sudden interruption.  “Oppa, you’re finally here,” she said coolly, her voice not revealing any emotion.

Yoseob didn’t know what to say.  He stared into Jaehwa’s piercing dark eyes.  “I’m sorry,” he finally admitted.  “You need a rest or else you’ll get vocal cord nodules,” he added, reaching his hand out to feel her neck, checking for any signs of strain.

Jaehwa’s breath hitched at the contact.  The more experienced singer touched his fingers tenderly against her neck, brushing lightly against the necklace.  Jaehwa blushed and turned away, unable to meet Yoseob’s eyes.  The Beast member smiled a bit before straightening up and gesturing for her to follow him.  “Come on,” he said. “Let’s go get something to eat.  How about some ice cream to cool your throat?”

Jaehwa nodded, the blush still on her cheeks as Yoseob led her out of the room.  As the two left the room, they completely missed Hyuna, who leaned against the wall, watching them.  She chuckled to herself.  They’re perfect for each other, she thought happily.

“What would you like?” Yoseob asked Jaehwa as she scanned the tubs of ice cream in front of her.

Jaehwa bit her lip in thought.  “Peppermint, please,” she told the server.

The server, flustered at meeting the idol in person, nodded and stuttered, “O-of course, Jaehwa-ssi.”

Jaehwa smiled sweetly, thanking him as he filled her order.  Yoseob frowned, slightly irritated as he watched the boy stare at Jaehwa adoringly.  He cleared his throat.  “I’d like to order, too.”

The server’s head snapped towards him, startled.  “O-oh, mianhae,” he apologized, bowing quickly before asking, “What flavor would you like?”

“Strawberry,” Yoseob said shortly, his annoyed gaze trained on him.

“N-ne,” the server stammered, returning to his work.

Jaehwa raised an eyebrow.  “Oppa, what’s with you?” she questioned, flicking him in the arm.

“Ow,” was his answer as he rubbed his arm, a slight pout appearing on his face.

Jaehwa laughed.  The action reminded her of their friendship before the falling-out.  Eventually, Yoseob gave up, reluctantly sliding the money to the cashier.  “I’m paying,” he changed the subject.

The younger girl opened to protest, but Yoseob had already accepted the receipt.  His eyes twinkled mischievously as he handed the ice cream to her.  “Eat up,” he prompted.

A few minutes later, his phone suddenly buzzed.  Yoseob looked up, but Jaehwa had not noticed, too absorbed in her ice cream.  He pulled the phone slightly out of his pocket, keeping it out of Jaehwa’s sight.

Oppa, I’m finished for today.  Do you want to go somewhere together? –IU <3

Once again, Yoseob felt torn.  Jaehwa turned to face him, the ice cream clutched in her hand.  “Oppa, is something wrong?” she asked, taking in his troubled expression.

“A-ani,” he answered, sending her a reassuring smile.

“Oh…okay,” she said, returning to eating her ice cream.

Yoseob stared at his best friend for a moment before looking back at the text message.

“Oh, and oppa?”

Yoseob looked up again.  “Ne?”

 “Your ice cream is melting,” she reminded him, playfully pointing to the strawberry ice cream in his other hand, a cute smile on her face.

Yoseob chuckled, quickly typing a reply on his phone before taking a bite out of the cold treat.
