A/N: Hi everyone!  This is my first fanfiction.  I finally found the time to write a chapter.  Yay!  Um...feedback would be great.  But this is just the first chapter so the story might seem boring at first.  I’ll try to add some action to the plot.  IU should be making her appearance in the story by maybe the third chapter.  Please subscribe!

“Aigu!  I’ll never get this right!” Jaehwa cried out in frustration.

The dancer was working on a difficult routine in one of the Cube practice rooms.  Although idols must work hard for their routines, she felt that backup dancers must put the same amount of effort.  Panting, she walked over to the stereo and switched off the music.

Suddenly, a pair of hands covered her eyes.  “Guess who?” a mischievous voice came from behind her.

Jaehwa groaned.  “Oppa!  I can’t see!”

Her best friend chuckled.  “That’s kind of the point, Jaehwa.”

She rolled her eyes and turned to look at Yoseob.  “Aren’t you supposed to be at practice right now?  With the rest of Beast?”

“Yeah, but they sent me to get you.  We want your feedback on our routine.”

The girl sighed.  He noticed her reluctance and quickly said, “If you come with me, I’ll help you on your dance.  Deal?”

“Okay.”

He cheered and grabbed hold of her hand.  Jaehwa blushed at the contact, but managed to face the opposite way.  He dragged her along the many hallways and corridors until they stopped in front of Beast’s main practice room.  He fumbled with his keys but managed to unlock the door.  “Oppa?  Why are you in such a hurry?” the younger girl asked suspiciously.

Yoseob ignored her and pushed her into the room.  opened in shock as the rest of Beast shouted, “Surprise!  Happy Birthday, Jaehwa!”

Balloons were floating around the ceiling in all corners of the room.  A large stack of messily wrapped gifts stood next to the stereo.  Streamers were strewn all over the floor.  A beautiful birthday cake was positioned in the midst of the chaos.

“Omo!” Jaehwa cried in surprise.  “You didn’t have to do this!”

Junhyung laughed.  “Did you even remember your birthday, Jaehwa?”

She grimaced.  “Erm...actually, no,” she finished with a sheepish grin.

Gikwang caught the girl in a headlock.  “How can you forget your own birthday?  That would never happen to me.”

Rolling her eyes, she countered, “That’s because I’m not as conceited as you!”

He let go of her with a pout.  “Hyung!  She’s being mean to me!”

Everyone except Yoseob laughed at his childishness.  Yoseob smacked Gikwang on the head.  “Yah!  You’re the one being mean to Jaehwa!”

Jaehwa stood off to the side, laughing silently.  She thought, How is it that these immature guys are one of the top idol groups in South Korea?

“Jaehwa!  Open the gifts!”

“No!  I want cake first!”

Sighing, the mature Jaehwa proposed a plan.  “How about we eat while I open the presents?”

Eagerly, the boys nodded and rushed over to get their gifts.  One by one, they handed them to her and then sat down to enjoy the cake.  Dongwoon pleaded, “Jaehwa, please open mine first!”

Hyunseung shook his head.  “No, since you’re the maknae, you’ll go last!”

The maknae pouted and stuck his tongue out at his hyung.  Jaehwa rolled her eyes.  “Aigu!  Will you guys quit bickering?  Why don’t you play a game to see whose present I open first?”

In an instant, the boys were in an intense game of rock-paper-scissors.  “Kawi-bawi-boo!” they chanted as she watched in amusement.

In the end, Jaehwa opened a triumphant Dujun’s present first.  As she easily tore off the wrapping paper, she mumbled, “Is this your first time wrapping presents or something?”

She giggled as their cheeks grew pink.  “I’m just joking...  Oppa, I love it!” she exclaimed.

He had given her Super Junior’s fifth album.  Jaehwa never was able to afford albums due to paying for rent and food every month.  And her favorite band (besides Beast, of course) had always been Super Junior.

Dujun grinned happily.  “I’m glad you like it, Jaehwa.  I even got the Super Junior hyungs to sign it!”

Her eyes widened in excitement, and she quickly flipped the album around.  Indeed, there were ten signatures scrawled on the back.  “Thank you, oppa!” she cheered.

“Okay, okay, is it our turn now?” Gikwang muttered impatiently.

In the end, Jaehwa was given Beast’s latest album, a Super Junior album, an Infinite album, a Teen Top album, and a 2ne1 album.  As she thanked everyone for their gifts, she noticed that Yoseob had not said a word throughout the entire encounter.  Suddenly, she realized that he hadn’t given her anything.  Well, he is very busy.  He must’ve accidently forgotten, she thought sadly.

As the rest of Beast continued to dig into the cake, Yoseob tapped Jaehwa on the shoulder and motioned for her to follow him.  They ended up back at the room that Jaehwa was practicing in earlier.  She looked at Yoseob curiously.  “Oppa?  Why are we here?”

He smirked and said, “Close your eyes, Jaehwa.”

After eyeing him suspiciously, she did as she was told.  “Is there a point to this?”

Jaehwa felt something cold being wrapped around her neck.  She tensed as she felt his warm breath on the back of neck.  “You can open your eyes now,” he murmured.

She looked down to see a necklace sparkling in the lights.  On the silver chain, two stars, gold and silver, were interlocked.  “Oppa...it’s beautiful,” she breathed.

“This is us.  We’ll be best friends forever, Jaehwa.  Don’t forget that,” he said seriously.

Jaehwa flung her arms around him in a hug.  “Thank you, Yoseob-oppa.  You don’t know how much this means to me.”

For a while, they just stood there, savoring the moment.  Suddenly, somebody whistled.  “Are we interrupting something?” Hyunseung snickered.

Jaehwa immediately let go of Yoseob and blushed.  Yoseob’s cheeks also turned slightly pink.  He protested, “It’s not like that, hyung.  Jaehwa and I are just friends!”

The other members grinned mischievously and closed the door.  However, they didn’t close it fast enough, and the two heard Dongwoon sing, “Whatever you say!  Have fun, you two!”

Yoseob turned his head to his best friend.  He quickly kissed her cheek and whispered, “Happy birthday, Jaehwa,” before sprinting out the door, shouting profanities the others.

Jaehwa lifted her hand to touch her cheek and smiled.  Happy birthday, Jaehwa, she thought happily to herself.
