Confession
The Fate of The Red Thread
You stagger to your bed, and fall.
"Im 29." You say with a blank face.
"Thats right. Then to me, you and the prince are children. 23 year old children.."
You shift your body to see the tv, and rest your head on your arm.
You put half of your fist in your mouth, knowing what was about to happen.
A tear drop fell from your eye. You turned up the tv to hide your crying moans.
You then, fell asleep with tears in your eyes.
Today was the day you were absolutely going to tell the royal family you are not Mi-Hyun.
"I'll wear the same dress." You say admiring yourself in the reflection through your tv.
You head out to the mansion, with your shoelaces shoved in your shoes of course.
"Im barely limping." You say proudly.
After transportation, you walked to the mansion.
The guard let you through, knowing you were the "princess".
"The entrance is so far from the house." You mumble, walking towards the door.
Attendants bowed with straight faces on. You bowed back.
They opened the door and you were again, amazed with the inside of the mansion.
You walked towards to the room where you first met the queen and king.
"Where is the king?" You ask someone who is behind a big wooden desk.
"They are out doing charitable events. The prince is in his room practicing the violin. I dont think you would be a
distraction." She says and gestures you in the direction to the princes room.
You bow, and take your leave.
You are in prince Dongwoo's room, by the door.
He is standing, playing the most beautiful sound you ever heard.
It put you so much at ease. You stood by his doorway and admired his playing.
Once the song was over, he turned around and saw you standing by his door.
You stood still. You walked in and said shyly "I like your playing." with your hands behind your back.
He smiled and nodded.
You rushed to his side and grabbed his violin.
"Was that really you playing" You ask examining the violin.
"Yes, and dont hold it like that." He said.
You gently put it on his pillow.
"Sorry."
He nodded and drank from his water bottle.
You spotted music sheets, and you quickly grabbed them.
"Who wrote these?" You asked him, and sat on the bed.
He swallowed the water and said "me."
"No way." You replied.
He laughed awkwardly, showing he was embarassed.
"Pass them here." He said and held out his hand.
"Dont want to." You said laying down on the bed.
This angered him, and he reached for it, only to fall on top of you.
He was on your body, and you met eyes with him. You could see sorry and worry in his eyes.
But his face quickly changed, looking like he wanted to kiss you.
He was looking into your eyes, but your eyes werent looking at his.
Your eyes were looking at Sunggyu, who was standing at the doorway holding a tray of food.
Dongwoo looked where your eyes were looking, saw Sunggyu and picked himself up.
You locked eyes with Sunggyu.
Both your eye talked.
Sunggyus eyes; 'whats this?'
Your eyes; 'this is a misunderstanding.'
"Just put that there." Dongwoo said pointing at his desk on the left of him.
Sunggyu looked away first and set down the tray on the desk.
He stormed out of the room, containing his emotions by putting his hands in his jacket pockets.
You followed him, brushing past Dongwoo's shoulder.
You ran after Sunggyu, who was going out to the backyard.
He turned his head to see you running towards him. He stopped and looked at you.
You stopped 1 meter from him.
"Stop running with an ankle like that." He said with a stern tone.
"Stop telling me what to do. You have no right to be jealous." You replied.
"Whos jealous?' He said and shrugged his shoulders.
You looked down.
"It doesnt matter, anyway. Im not-" You said.
"Mi-Hyun!" Dongwoo yelled out.
He gave a glare to Sunggyu, and held your hand.
"Why do you look so sad?" Dongwoo asked, placing his hand on your cheek.
You gave him a sincere look. Then looked away, keeping a stern look.
"Follow me." You said strongly, and let go of his hand.
You turned around and said "You too, Sunggyu.'
They both have confused faces on, but follow you anyway.
You have arrived in front of the king and queens work room. You knock, and get let in by an attendant.
Sunggyu bows and says "Sorry for disturbing, it seems the princess has something to say."
You bow also.
"I have something to say."
They welcome you and gesture you to sit down.
"Of course. What is this about?" The king asks.
"Thank you for everything up till now, but i have got bad news for all of you." You say turning your head to everyone.
The queen nods.
You take a deep breathe and confess,
"My name is Hana. Kim Hana."
"..i thought it was Kang Mi-Hyun. Did you get it changed?" The queen asks.
"No. Kim Hana was always my name. I'm not Kang Mi-Hyun." You say looking down.
Everyone is confused.
"This may be a shock. But.. Kang Mi-Hyun passed away 3 years ago."
Your eyes watered up.
Sunggyu walked out of the room first.
Everyone was silent.
"..Mi-Hyun passed away." The king said.
You nodded.
"Why wasnt i informed this?" He asked, anger in his voice.
"I told the person who came to get me that she passed. He didnt believe me." You say.
"Mr.Kim?" He asked. "Then how can we be sure that youre not Mi-Hyun? Mr.Kim has been loyal to us for more than
20 years."
You made eye contact with the king.
He got up and said "Ms.Choi, please tell Kim Sunggyu to get evidence of the death of late Mi-Hyun."
The queen was surprised by her husbands reaction.
The prince and queen stayed sitting down.
You kept your head down.
"Is this the truth?" She asked. "Or is it a way to get out of the castle?"
"This is the truth." You said firmly.
"I also tried everything to get out of here when i was your age. I accepted it later, maybe you will be like that too." She replied.
"I am not like that." You said politely. " And right now, i am 29."
She looked surprised.
"Well, at that age i was studying as hard as i can to fit my husbands taste." She laughed.
You smiled.
Dongwoo held out his hand, his face blank.
You looked at him.
"I know your words are true." He said and smiled.
You shook his hand and he held it for awhile. The queen was watching.
"You can stay here one more night while we wait for the documents." The queen said.
You happily nodded.
"Perhaps, in my sons room?" She said playfully. Dongwoo slightly blushed.
"The room i was staying in was fine." You said awkwardly smiling.
'Sunggyu...'
