Cold
The Fate of The Red Thread
You were sitting on a chair by the Prince's bed side. You dumped a cloth in a bowl of cold
water and squeezed out some water from it.
You folded it and placed it on his head.
'Prince. I wonder if you would like Mi-Hyun.' You think while staring at him.
You close your eyes from being tired.
Dongwoo slowly opens his eyes. Starts looking around and sees you.
He carefully your hair with the back of his fingers.
Your face twitches and you open your eyes. You see the prince looking at you.
"Prince! How are you feeling?" You ask him.
He nods and asks "What happened?"
"A lot. You are a heavy sleeper." You say and smile.
"Please start from the beginning" he says closing his eyes.
"Well," You say playing with your nails. "After you used the washroom, you felt really hot, and you fainted.
I had to piggy back ride you here. Thats when your mom came in, she was taking pictures of us and finally came to
help once i was done placing you in bed."
"You carried me here? With that ankle?" He asks.
"Yeah, it wasnt that bad." You say, not wanting him to worry.
"But, u-um" You say.
"What?" He asks.
"Y-your mom came in on us.. you know.." You stutter and start twiddeling your thumbs.
"What?" He asks again.
"She saw us on your bed, and you were holding me." You say.
"You seduced me while i was asleep?" He asks while he gets up, causing the cloth on his forehead to fall on his lap.
"Yah! You were holding me. And lay back down. You need rest." You say.
You picked up the wet cloth and dipped it back in the bowl of cold water.
He layed back down and said "Please continue the story."
You squeezed the cloth full of water and placed it on his head.
"She took a picture and was happy. I struggled out of your arms, and told her you had a fever."
"Why didnt she take me to a hospital?" He asks.
"We both thought it wasnt serious enough to go to the hospital." You say. "Can i continue?"
He nods.
"So then, your mom asked me if i could stay here overnight. Looking at your weak body, i said yes. So im
sleeping here tonight." You say.
"Here? In my room?" He asks.
"No. In the guest room across from here." You reply. "But i cant go now, your mom will unlock the door when she
comes back."
"She locked the door?" He asks.
"Yup." You say and you nod your head.
"I got the attendant outside your door to get me a bowl of cold water and a cloth to cool you down." You say
and you put your hand on his forehead.
"Youre still kind of warm."
"Its pretty dark, arent you tired?" He asks you while covering up his neck with the blanket.
"Are you cold?" You ask him. "It must be a cold."
He turned around, facing the window that had a good view of the moon.
"Sh-should i go now?" You ask him.
He reached his arm out to your hand, keeping his sight towards the window.
"Dont go." He said weak and lifelessy.
You sat there looking at the lonely person, desperately calling for you.
"I wont go anywhere." You said as you placed your hand on his.
'He must have been lonely all these years.' You thought.
You stayed till you heard him snoring.
You lift his hand off yours carefully and set it down on the bed.
You tip-toed/limped to the door and knocked slightly.
"Yah. Hes asleep for tonight." You whispered through the door.
"Sorry, Ma'am. I got instructions from the Queen that you have to stay overnight." The voice replied.
'What?!' You think.
You try to open the door for 3 straight minutes.
"Yah! Ahjusshi!" You shout.
You hear Dongwoo switch his position on the bed.
'Aish.' You think.
You look at the bed with the puffy blanket and silky sheet.
'So tempting.'...
'Just for a while.' You think.
You then limp back to the bed and hit your foot on the chair you were sitting on.
"Ow, ow, ow." You say while hopping on one foot.
Then you fell on the bed full of unique fabrics.
Even though your ankle was stinging, the fabric on the bed made the upper half of your body comfortable.
'Just for tonight.' You think. 'Im locked in here anyways.'
You sat up and pushed Dongwoo over for more room. Once you were done, you spread out your arms and layed down
on the silky pillows, and sheets.
You smiled and covered yourself with the soft, puffy blanket.
