Dreaming, New Job and Chocolate Abs

…and then, I Became Cho KyuHyun’s Personal Translator

 [3rd Person’s POV]

“We’re now at Seoul’s Incheon Airport. The local time now is 10.15pm and the ground temperature is 11 degree Celsius. We thank you for flying with Korean Airlines and hope to see you again.”

A smile formed on HyunRi’s face; although she terribly missed Cera and Jas it sure still feels great to be back in South Korea!

[Byul HyunRi’s POV]

My bedside alarm clock went off and I reluctantly kicked off the covers and yawned. It’s my first morning in South Korea after spending five years studying in Singapore.

I went to the bathroom, which was connected to my bedroom to freshen up. After changing into a blue long-sleeved hoodie and dark skinny jeans, I padded downstairs into the kitchen, grabbed a cookie and stuffed it into my mouth. Then, I slipped into my dark blue Converse shoes and slung my KyuHyun bag over my shoulder.

I’m on my way for to an appointment at Seoul’s Job Agency; a worker there called in at 11pm yesterday night to inform me about the appointment.

After a good 25 minute walk, I reached Seoul’s Job Agency building. Self-consciously, I entered the waiting room and approached the information counter. The lady that was stationed there told me that she had informed her boss about my arrival so all I have to do is to sit at the waiting area and wait for my name to be called.

The waiting area was pretty packed; I sat down beside a man who looked like he was in his late thirties. I saw him eye my KyuHyun bag pack before looking up at me with a slight grin on his face. Okay...

I crossed my legs and patiently waiting for my turn to be called…

“Miss Byul HyunRi, please proceed to Counter 3 now.” The speakers boomed. I jumped up, went to Counter 3 and sat down.

A piece of paper was pushed towards me the middle-aged woman who was working at the counter said, “Congratulations! With your professional qualifications, we managed to help you secure a place in Seoul’s top fashion designer company!”

My eyes twinkled in pure happiness and victory. I got it! I got it! I got my dream job as a designer!

The crowd of people who were in the waiting room stood up and clap for my success. I bowed to them with tears of joy in my eyes.

WOOHOOOOOOOOO~ IN YOUR FACES, JAS AND CERA! I’M INVINCIBLE NOW! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

“Umm… Miss Byul HyunRi?” I felt someone tap my shoulder lightly.

Arghhh… Go away; can’t you see I’m currently having a celebration for getting my dream job?

“BYUL HYUNRI-SSHI!”

My eyes flew open. What? What? What happened? Why aren’t there people clapping for me?

Slowly, I realized that I had accidently dozed off while waiting and it was just a dream.

“It’s your turn now! Please proceed to Counter 7!” An assistant hissed at me.

I let out a heavy sigh and went over to Counter 7. At counter 7, a bald man smiled warmly at me and gestured me to the chair in front, “Byul HyunRi-sshi, please take a seat.”

“Congratulations! We managed to help you get your first choice of job!” Mr. Baldy Man announced with a happy grin, “I would like to introduce you to your new boss, Mr. Lee SeungHwan.”

I looked beside me and saw the man who I sat beside in the waiting room awhile ago. Okay, so what does Mr. Lee do? Is he the CEO of Seoul’s top fashion designer company? I was still confused between dream and reality.

Mr. Baldy continues, “Mr. Lee is the manager of a boy band, Super Junior M, and is urgently looking for a Korean-Chinese language translator for their up-coming long stay in Taiwan. The matter is so urgent that Mr. Lee’s company is willing to pay thrice the salary of an average translator.” Mr. Baldy Man scans my KyuHyun bag, leans in, winks and whispered, “You’re in luck.”

Super Junior M’s Translator?! What?! This is another dream, right?! I pictured Cera and Jas laughing smugly. AAAAAAAAAH! MY HEAD IS STARTING TO SPIN! (Not literally, of course. That'll be gross, you know.)

“Please read through the terms and conditions. If you decide to take the job offer, please sign here.” A pen and paper was pushed towards me.

What should I do? Should I sign it? SHOULD I? But I’ll be betraying my dream job! AAAAAAAAAAAH! SHISUS HELP ME!

Great timing to panic, HyunRi. You and your stupid brain.

I gripped the pen and guess what happened?

I quickly signed the agreement contract and then my eyes rolled back into my head and I fainted.

*

“HyunRi-ah!” Someone was gently shaking my shoulder.

I groaned and forced my eyes open and found myself lying on the backseat of a van.

“HyunRi-ah! I’m so proud of you!” I heard appa said.

What is appa doing here? I frowned and pushed myself and saw appa’s grinning face hovering beside mine.

“Appa, what happened?”

“Oh, don’t you remember? Back at Seoul’s Job Agency, you fainted after signing the contract to become Super Junior M’s translator.”

I frowned and rubbed my head, “So it wasn’t a dream?”

Appa rolled his eyes, “No, HyunRi, you did sign the agreement to become their official translator. Now, we’re in Mr. Lee’s van on the way to Super Junior M’s dormitory. Well, he’ll drop me off at our apartment first before sending you there.”

I blinked.

Then, my father put his arm around my shoulder, “HyunRi-ah, I think you made a really good decision. Through your new job, you’ll get to meet your idols and get paid at the same time! The best part is that, the food and transportation costs and paid by the company.”

“What do you mean by ‘food and transportation’?” I asked. Why am I so clueless?

“HyunRi, don’t you know that you’ll be flying with Super Junior M to Taiwan for their up-coming long stay in a week’s time?” Appa said in a how-can-you-be-unaware-of-something-major-like-this way.

“What?!” I almost screamed. “But I just arrived in Korea!”

“Ah! We’re here at our apartment already. I’ll be going now, HyunRi. Have fun at SJM’s dormitory! See you at home later!”

With that, appa climbed into the front seat, thanked Mr. Lee for the ride and slide the door of the van open before stepping out. And with that, I was left behind in Super Junior M’s manager’s van on the way to Super Junior M’s dormitory. It was quite unbelievable.

About 17 minutes later, Mr. Lee parked the van in a basement car park and I grabbed my bag and followed him into the lift lobby. It was a bit awkward as I had totally no idea what to say to SJM’s manager. I mean, what could I say?

‘Hello, I’ve been a fan of Super Junior since November 2005.’?

He’ll probably think that I’m a stalker-fan and fire me before I even start my job.

The trouble was saved as when we entered the lift, Mr. Lee said, “I called earlier to inform the boys that you’ll be coming over. I have to warn you; they can be a bit messy at times.”

“What do you mean?” I asked curiously.

“You’ll see,” Mr. Lee smiled. “Are you a fan of KyuHun?”

“I’m only carrying this bag because my best friends forced me into it!” I told him.

The lift chimed and the doors opened. I followed Mr. Lee out and we stopped outside Super Junior M’s dorm door. He pressed the doorbell and I waited with my heartbeat increasing as the milliseconds passed.

Then, before I knew it, the door swung open.

“SiWon-hyung, you’ve forgotten your shir—” I heard and recognized the high-pitched voice. It belonged to no other than Kim RyeoWook.

Oh. My. Shisus.

And I mean it, literally.

Choi SiWon stood there in front of me, without a shirt, greeting me with legendary chocolate abs.

SiWon smiled and waved awkwardly, “Um… Hi?”

*************************************************************************************************************************************

About Super Junior's manager, I know Mr. Lee SeungHwan probably isn't the manager that accompanied the boys to TaiWan. But he is the only SJ manager that I know of, so might as well put him into the story.
