Turbulence

The next morning, they woke up to rain on the roof of the huts. While it sounded nice and was refreshing, it brought a cruel reminder that they were very hungry and no one really wanted to go outside in the downpour. Yixing finally quietly reminded everyone that if they didn’t find food soon, everyone was going to starve; it was that simple. After he had mentioned it, several people started to get ready to go find food. There was no reason to whine about it.
Jessica and Hyuna decided to stay behind, since it probably was not safe to leave the camp unattended. They stayed at the camp for a while, but decided it was okay for them to both go take baths in the spring. No one was around, and they both needed it. It turned out to be very refreshing and relaxing. They also found that they could enjoy one another’s company, chatting as they bathed. Hyuna learned that Jessica was not as much of a barbie as everyone thought. She seemed to like some of the same things that Hyuna did. She was pleasantly surprised. She felt comfortable enough to mention something to her.
“Hey…” Hyuna began. “Do you know what Yuri’s dating experience is? Has she dated a lot in school? I am asking you, because you’ve known her longer than I have.”
Jessica shot her a questioning look, then answered. “You know, I don’t remember her ever dating anyone,” she dunked her head in the water, running her hands through it.
Hyuna nodded thoughtfully. “Thanks, Jessica.”
Jessica grinned at her. “You’re welcome.” She was still confused, but didn’t mention it.
Hyuna got out and dried herself off. “Thanks. I think I’m going to go back to the camp now. See ya.”
Jessica nodded. “You’re welcome…and,” she paused. “You can call me Jess.”
Hyuna smiled. “Thank you, Jess.”
After she left, Jessica stepped out of the water and began drying herself off. When she was wrapping the towel around herself after she was dry, she got the strange feeling that something or someone was watching her.
