Come Back to Us

“Money or your life.”
If the fact that the sharp blade against his throat was not life threatening, he would have laughed at the sheer triteness of the movie-like statement.
He knew the assailant had followed him from the market that mid morning.
But the assailant was too well dressed to be a two bit pick pocketeer, so he let the man follow him home to see what the former’s next move would be.
True enough, the man accosted him, in pretext of asking for money.
And of course the man was defeated in mere seconds.
Brutally enough that he grovelled on the ground, nursing a broken finger.
“Cha Tae-sik-ssi. Sunbae. Anyeong.”
Another man dressed in long black overcoat and two more came out of the shadows.
While the other two went to help their injured friend, the leader bowed his respects to Tae-sik.
“How did you find me?” the Ahjussi asked.
“Your records are no longer hidden now, sir. You have been under our surveillance for a week now.”
He simply stared at the man who was once his subordinate.
He looked well, at the very least, Tae-sik thought, remembering the leader as a rookie in the combat unit he headed.
He must be a superior himself now, he thought.
“You look well, sir. And still have not lost your moves,” the agent smiled.
“Why are you here?”
Always straight to point.
“I’ve been tasked to ask you to come back to us, sir.”
