Dear Omma.
The Love I Never Lost [Hiatus]Eun Kyung's P.O.V
"Eun Kyung-ah..." Omma said with a broken voice.
"Nae, Omma?" I said but I felt the grip of my Omma's hand fading. I shook her hand and held it
tighter.
"Omma... Why are you being like this?" I asked. Omma, once again, ignored the question and only
smiled with her unhealthy-looking blue lips.
"Play something for me." Omma said.
"What should I play, Omma?" I asked, searching for the piano Omma always had at the room.
"Whatever your heart tells you to play sweetheart." She said while I place the electric piano beside her
bed and plugging it.
"Arasso..." I mumbled, having a weird feeling. I took a deep breath and place my hands on the
keyboard. My fingers lead me and played Winter Child as I hummed the song. Omma started singing
bits of the lyrics and soon, I joined her singing. I had my eyes closed through the whole song.
When I stopped playing, I opened my eyes, meeting Omma's. I moved the piano aside and pulled my
chair closer to her to hold her hand.
"You have a nice voice... You should sing more often." It costed her a lot of energy to say so many
words in one sentence. I shook my head.
"I don't have a nice voice Omma..." I said pouting. She only laughed through her nose. We stayed
silent for a few minutes until I felt she moved a little. I looked at her.
"Eun Kyung-ah... Take that box over there..." She made a little gesture to indicate the night stand
beside her bed. I saw a little box with a pink ribbon on top of it. I took it and looked back at her.
"It's for you, sweetheart." She smiled. I looked down at the box and opened it. I found a necklace
where it had a jewel heart. Its outline had encrusted little diamonds. It also had a little silver ribbon. It
was simple but breath-taking to my eyes. I looked at Omma again.
"Happy Birthday, sweetheart..." Omma said, her voice breaking again.
"I don't think this is... the birthday you wanted... Mianhae." Omma's eyes got watery. A tear had
already escaped my right eye as I got closer to her.
"It's okay, Omma. Aslong as you stay, right?" This time, tears rolled down her pale cheeks.
"Omma..." I said. I heard the monitor, indicating Omma's heart rate was quickly decreasing along
with her hand's grip, her eyelids were dropping. I shook her hand and held it tightly with both my
hands.
"Omma... You promised you wouldn't leave me..." I was sobbing, my face drenched with tears. More
tears rolled down Omma's cheeks.
"...Mianhae, sweetheart..." With that said, everything stopped. No more sounds. No expression left on
Omma's face. Her hands were as cold as ice.
I felt strangely empty...
And then it hit me.
There were no more heart beats.
