CHAPTER 9

 

I feel something weird in the atmosphere.

Ok the only weird ones are Tiffany, Jessica and Yuri. The others seem oblivious.

Tiffany and Jessica seem to avoid me. They seem to be avoiding each other too.

Yuri, on the other hand, totally ignores me!

LT has gone USA to visit Taeyeon, and he told me to take care of myself.

I really feel like calling him.

Just when I am about to call, he messaged me.

“Well queries will remain as queries if you keep them in your heart.”

URGH. This mind reader!

Alright, I shall solve it myself.

 

I saw Tiffany alone in the kitchen and went to approach her.

Then I heard her speaking English on her phone.

Well I’m a top student in English so I can perfectly understand her.

“Alright, I’ll take care of myself. You too. Bye.”

Her voice sounds so annoyed.

When she saw me, she looked kind of shocked.

“Talking to Nickhun?”

She nodded.

“Is there something wrong?” I asked again.

“We are fine.” She quickly answered.

That doesn’t sound very convincing. But well that’s not the main point.

“I’m not talking about you and Nickhun. I mean us.”

She looked a bit stunned.

“Erm..”

“There is a problem right?” I asked again.

“Well Taeyeon, maybe you should talk to Jessica.”

“Why?”

“Just talk to her.” She said and left.

Fine!

 

I asked Sunny for Jessica’s address. She drew a map for me.

“Map? Just give me her address, I’ll take a cab there.”

Sunny looked speechless.

“Gosh Taeyeon ah it’s just a 10 minutes walk from here!”

Oh.

 

I slowly walked to Jessica’s house, thinking of what I should ask her.

“Hi Sica, Tiffany asked me to ask you what’s the problem between me and her. Do you by any chance know the reason?”

Neh, sounds stupid!

“Hi Sica, what’s wrong with you?!”

Neh, she’ll probably slam the door in my face.

Unconsciously, I reached her doorstep.

Her sister, Krystal, opened the door after I rang the bell.

“Hi Krystal, is your sister in?” I asked her in English.

Well, she’s an American too.

She looks kinda amused.

“Wow Taeyeon unnie, your english improved a lot! You even have a british accent haha.”

Well my english teacher is a british.

I smiled like a dork rubbing my neck.

…

Jessica looked surprised to see me.

We went into her room.

“So.. why did you come?” She asked.

I decided to go straight to the point.

“Well I believe there is some kind of tension between me, you, Tiffany and Yuri.”

She looked expressionless.

Eek.

“Did I do something wrong?”

“You think you did something wrong?” She questioned back.

Her icy words made me shiver.

“Well I..” I don’t know what to say.

She sighed.

“Maybe you should talk to Yuri.”

 

What~the~hell.

And Yuri will probably tell me to ask Tiffany, and I will never get to know the truth.

Suddenly I thought of something.

Is it the Sunmi incident?! Only Yuri knew that.

I jumped up from my seat.

“If it’s about me kissing Sunmi, it’s just a misunderstanding!”

 “How can it be a misunderstanding when you two are kissing passionately?”

What?!

“Hey she initiated the kiss, and I didn’t even kiss back!”

“Really?” She raised her eyebrow.

Suddenly I feel annoyed.

“Hey why am I even explaining this to you? It’s not like I had committed some crime right?!”

Her face darkened.

“Kim Taeyeon, you are a jerk!”

She pushed me out of her room and slammed the door.

Oh great.

 

I stormed all the way to SMent.

Why did Yuri say that?! That’s maligning!!!

I knew where she would be. The gym.

When I pushed the door in, I regretted instantly.

 

Yuri was kissing a girl passionately.

They both stopped and look at me.

“Sorry.” I looked away.

Yuri gestured the girl to leave.

I took a quick glance at her. It’s Yuri’s yoga teacher.

 

Then Yuri sat on the floor looking at me like nothing happened.

“You look anxious. Something happened?” She smirked.

“Why did you tell Jessica I kissed Sunmi passionately?!” I yelled.

“Didn’t you?”

“Hey, you saw me pushing her away!”

“Well, who knows what you two did after I left?” She stood up and took a dumbbell.

Why is she being like this?!

“Yah! Why are you making assumptions?! Now Jessica misunderstood me!”

She suddenly looked furiously at me.

“Well, are you mad that I ruined your image in Jessica’s heart?!”

She walked towards me.

“You must be very mad right? You thought it is a great chance for you two to be together after I broke up with her right? Did I ruin your plan?”

I stepped back.

“What the hell are you saying?! I never thought of being with her!”

She smirked.

“Oh really? You knew she liked you right from the start right?! That’s why you asked me to give up on her. Then you can fill up the space! You are such a hypocrite!!!” She yelled in my face.

ARGH. She’s mad!

“Why are you accusing me?! It’s not my fault that you two broke up anyway! She did not have any feelings for you!!!”

 

Her faced turned so red.

Omo what should I do? Shouldn’t have angered her further.

With this small body I don’t stand a chance of winning her!

 

I thought she might punch me. But she walked around in circles talking to herself instead.

“Yuri, it’s ok, calm down, she’s your leader, you can’t punch her, it’s not her fault anyway. Yuri, it’s ok, calm down, she’s your leader, you can’t punch her, it’s not her fault anyway. I felt a bit dizzy hearing her repeating the same thing over and over again.

“Yuri, are you ok?”

She turned around and stared at me.

I gulped.

Then she bowed.

“Sorry.”

Phew.

“It’s ok. Why did you do that?”

 

Yuri sighed.

“I guess I’m too jealous till I can’t think straight.”
