CHAPTER 14

 

When we reached the ferris wheel, both Jessica and Sunmi look at me, like I have to choose one of them.

I glared at Hyuna.

She gulped.

“Let’s all sit together!! One cabin can hold 4 people anyway!” Hyuna said, excitedly.

I nodded my head furiously.

“Ok. But Taengoo will sit with me on one side.” Sica said.

“Taetae unnie I wanna sit with you too!” Sunmi whined.

I nudged Hyuna again.

“I volunteer as tribute!!” Hyuna raised her hand and yelled.

The 3 of us look at her with a perplexed expression.

 

“I mean.. I mean I will sit with Taeyeon unnie! She wants to sit with me too! Right, unnie?” Hyuna shot me a cute but fake expression.

I nodded my head furiously again.

“Fine.” Sica said, coolly. Then she gave me a naughty look.

I feel uneasy. She must be up to something!

“Ok taetae, but you must sit with me during merry go round later kay?” Sunmi winked.

Merry go round?! That’s for children!

But I agreed nonetheless.

“Sure.” I smiled.

Never offend a jealous woman!

 

Hyuna and Sunmi stepped into the cabin first.

When I was about to walk in, Jessica pulled me away and closed the cabin door.

“Hey you cheater!!” Sunmi yelled.

Jessica did a merong to her.

“Let’s sit in another cabin!” She pulled me into the cabin behind.

I can only give Sunmi an apologetic look.

…

Jessica snuggled close to me and put her head on my shoulder.

“It’s like a dream come true..” She murmured.

“Dream?”

“Yes. To be with the one I love on a ferris wheel.”

Suddenly my heart ached. I am just deceiving her feelings! But then I can’t help it, I feel blissful too. LT’s words rang beside my ears..

“…feelings can’t be controlled, Sooyeon.”

Did he plan this right from the start?! He seemed so sure that I would fall in love.

But I’m not Taeyeon! I will just end up hurting other people! So why? What’s the reason?

“Taengoo!!”

Jessica’s voice brought me back to earth. So sweet.

“Hmm?” I turned my head to face her, only to collide with her lips.

Then she pulled away, and blushed.

I noticed that we are at the highest point of the ride.

…

My mind is in a mess; I can only stare into space blankly.

“Taengoo..” Sica said, softly.

She must have noticed my distress.

“Sica.. let’s take this step by step, ok?” I said.

I must find LT to answer all my queries.

She gave me a smile.

“Of course. I have been waiting for years anyway.”

My heart ached upon her words.

Aish Taeyeon you are so blind.

“You know I wish you can let your hair down sometimes. You are always protecting us, always trying to look strong, always trying to hide all your insecurities and troubles to yourself. You don’t know how I wish that I can be your trusted confidant.” Sica held my hand.

My eyes turned watery. Her love for Taeyeon is just.. I don’t know how to describe it.

“Hush, don’t cry.” She used her thumb to caress my face.

And I find myself cupping her face.

She looked at me intensely. And closed her eyes.

I moved nearer and nearer…

 

“Taetae!!!!!”

It’s Sunmi screaming.

I turned around, and saw her slamming the glass panel in her cabin and Hyuna trying to grab her.

I swallowed my saliva.

Jessica on the other hand gave her a victory smirk.

Gosh I hope this ride can last longer!

 

When the ride ended I quickly ran towards Hyuna and hid behind her.

“What are you trying to do to taetae just now?!” Sunmi yelled at Jessica.

“Well as you can see Taengoo cupped my face. You should ask her what is she trying to do to me.” Sica folded her arms.

Sunmi turned to face me with a murderous aura.

Eek.

“Why did you do that?!” Sunmi questioned me.

“I’m just.. I’m just.. trying to measure her head size!” I anyhow gave an excuse.

“What?” Sunmi don’t look convinced.

“I’m gonna buy a helmet for her!”

Sica burst into laughter. Sunmi looked unamused. Hyuna looked stoned.

I nudged Hyuna.

“Ahh, err, yah that’s totally possible!” Hyuna said.

I crossed my fingers, hoping that Sunmi will buy my stupid excuse.

 

“Are you two together?” Sunmi suddenly turned serious.

“Not yet, but on the way.” Sica answered.

“I want to hear from you, taetae.” Sunmi looked at me with her watery eyes.

Geez, why ask me such a difficult question.

“We aren’t together yet, but.. I like her.” I looked down to hide my blushing face.

 

Silence.

 

I looked up again nervously. Sunmi stared at me with an unreadable expression. Hyuna grinned widely. But Jessica is gone!

“Where’s Jessica?” I asked.

“I think Jessica unnie is so touched that she ran to the toilet to cry!” Hyuna said.

Erm? That’s exaggerating.

“Did you mean what you say?” Sunmi asked.

“I guess so.” I looked down.

Sunmi bit her lips.

“Ok. Then I am happy for you.”

“Sunmi..”

“I hope you can be happy, although I’m not the one to bring you happiness. I don’t want to see a grumpy Taeyeon.”

I went over and gave Sunmi a hug.

“Thank you.”

Hyuna came over to hug us too.

“Taeyeon unnie, no matter who you end up with, I wish you happiness!”

I smiled.

“Anyway, do I get a reward for being so magnanimous?” Sunmi pouted.

“What do you want?”

“How about.. a kiss?”

My eyes widened.

“You already stole one from me that day!”

“Well, one more won’t hurt!”

I nudged Hyuna.

“I volunteer as tribute!” Hyuna yelled.

And she kissed Sunmi.

Sunmi’s eyes widened. And her face turned red.

“Sunmi, you got your kiss.” Hyuna said, while her lips.

“Ahhhhh!!!!!” Sunmi yelled and ran away.

“Taeyeon unnie, go find Jessica unnie! See you next time!” Hyuna winked to me and ran after Sunmi.

 

Hyuna you are my hero!!

 

I have a hunch that Jessica will be at the fountain. And I got it right.

I went to sit beside her.

She turned around, trails of tears visible on her face.

“Why did you cry?” I used my hand to caress her face.

“I can’t control myself.” She pouted.

So cute!

“Why did you take so long to come? Did Sunmi kiss you again?” She asked with a frown.

I smiled.

“No, but Hyuna kissed her.”

“Oh. That’s unexpected.”

“Life is full of unexpected things..” I mumbled.

“Taengoo, what did you want to do when you cupped my face just now?” Sica asked.

“You really want to know?”

“Of course!” She raised her voice and stood up, but quickly sat down looking embarrassed when she realized what she did.

I smiled. Why is she so cute!

I cupped her face again. And gave her a kiss.. on her forehead.

“So, that’s the first step? I hope second step will arrive soon.” She smiled, and hugged me.

I ran my fingers through her hair.

 

 

Whatever the future may bring, just let me enjoy this moment.
