Baby~
Aren't You Suppose To Be Mine?
“I’m sorry Mr. Kim, but we cannot fix your foot. The damage is too great; there is nothing we can do to fix it. You’ll be in this wheelchair for the rest of your life.” Even if the doctor was trying to sound sad and heartbroken he wore a smile. An evil smile that made Yu Kwon shiver despite the tears rolling down his face.
He looked up to see the rest of his Block B members standing at the foot of his bed. They all wore similar smiles, Jaehyo and Kyung even laughing at him.
“It’s a good thing right, Minhyuk hyung? Now that Yu Kwon is out of the way, you’re the main dancer now!” Kyung elbowed his hyung in the arm, Minhyuk nodding and fully agreeing. Did they really hate Yu Kwon this much?
“Yeah! And now I’ll get more parts in songs now that Kwonnie here won’t be with us anymore.” Jaehyo added.
Wait a second. Won’t be with us anymore? Am I..?
“Hate to break it to ya, Kwonnie hyung,” Jiho said with a smirk, “but now that you can’t even stand up by yourself again, you’re out of Block B. We’ve already packed your things.”
Jihoon plopped a couple large bags onto the foot of his bed and high-fived Taeil. Did they really hate Yu Kwon this much? Did they ever really like him to begin with? Why did they put up with him until now? They never said anything mean to him or never even showed a glimpse of hatred toward him. Where was this coming from?
Yu Kwon was now a crying a river, the tears never stopping their flow. He couldn’t comprehend what was going on. He was just kicked out of Block B? How could all of this happen so quickly? The small boy couldn’t even muster up the courage to say anything to them as he was afraid, embarrassed and his sobs wouldn’t let him say a word. He buried his face in his hands hoping that when he opened them that they would be gone.
They were.
Yu Kwon woke up with a cold sweat and tears staining his cheeks. He was breathing heavily and it scared him less that one of them was still in the room. Although he wasn’t laughing or taunting him like in his nightmare, he was sleeping on the side of his hospital bed with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. The sleeping man was still holding Yu Kwon’s hand and his fringe was covering his eyes. Yu Kwon smiled and brushed them off his forehead so he can see the sleeping creature’s face in front of him.
Minhyuk stirred awake at Yu Kwon’s slight gesture and yawned. He sat up slowly, cracking his spine against the back of the chair and stretched his arms over his head, letting go of Yu Kwon’s hand. He then plopped his head right back down on the bed facing Yu Kwon who he then just realized was also awake. He smiled and then frowned when he saw the boy’s wet cheeks.
“Well, good morning to you too, Mr. Grumpy-pants.” Yu Kwon chuckled at the displeased other boy.
“Baby, why were you crying? Did something happen? Are you in pain again?” Minhyuk questioned, worried about the injured boy.
“Baby”? Since when did he start calling me that? That’s a new one for sure…
Minhyuk sat on the bed and used his palms to wipe away the tears on Yu Kwon’s face. He blushed at the sudden touch and pulled the elder’s hands away from his face.
“I’m fine, hyung. I just had a bad dream, that’s all.” It was more like a horrific nightmare. He wondered if he’d have another dream like that again.
“Do you want to tell me about it…?” The elder cautioned not knowing if it was a sensitive topic.
“Fine, it’s not all touchy-feely or anything. It’s just that the doctor came in and told me I wouldn’t be able to walk ever again. Then you guys were here all happy that I wouldn’t be able to and even kicked me out of Block B. It was obviously fake, it was just a shock that’s all.” Yu Kwon assured Minhyuk who looked a little more than worried. He looked horrified that Yu Kwon would even think of having a thought like that. They would never kick Yu Kwon out, how could they?
Yu Kwon noticed his nervous hyung and ruffled his hair and smiled that signature angelic smile. Minhyuk couldn’t help but smile back and he pet the younger’s hair. Yu Kwon couldn’t help but notice the look in Minhyuks’ eyes. It wasn’t a look he’s ever seen before. It looked very soft and caring…
“Mr. Kim I- oh, I’m sorry, was I interrupting something?” the doctor shyly said as he noticed the somewhat intimate moment the two boys were sharing.
Minhyuk took his hand off the smaller’s head and stood up immediately, scratching the back of his head. He looked down in embarrassment and blushed.
“No, it’s fine doctor. You were about to tell me something?” Yu Kwon stated not even realizing what the simple moment they had did to the raven-haired boy. Will he ever know?
“Ah, yes. It seems that they fracture in your foot is worse than I thought and we will have to perform surgery.” Yu Kwon looked at the doctor with terrified eyes and he could feel the tears start to swell in his eyes. He slowly turned his head to the elder who had the same expression but with no tears. He stepped toward the bed and bent down to meet the cat-like man’s sight. He gave him a reassuring smile then stood up and rested his hand on his shoulder. The doctor smiled at the sweet moment between the two friends and looked over at the still terrified Yu Kwon who had a tear escape and run down his cheek.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Kim, it’s nothing serious. It’s just a minor surgery and we’ll do it in about,” he looked down at his watch, “two hours? It won’t take long and Mr. Lee, you are more than welcome to stay although you cannot be there during the surgery.”
Yu Kwon’s eyes quadrupled their size within seconds. He hated to sound like a girl but he was terrified. Yu Kwon would run out of that hospital as soon as he could, screaming at the top of his lungs. But he physically can’t which is why he was there in the first place.
He looked to his hyung again but Minhyuk did the same thing. He smiled and slightly squeezed the younger’s shoulder. He had to be the mature one right now, didn’t he? He couldn’t express his worry. That would only make Yu Kwon worry as well.
“So after the surgery how long do you think Yu Kwon has to stay here? It shouldn’t be long, right?” Minhyuk asked with Yu Kwon still gaping at him.
“At most, a week. But if Mr. Kim does well with the recuperating and it doesn’t pain him much and there are no problems then he can be released within a couple of days. He also has to have some training with crutches since he will be using them for awhile.” The doctor told Minhyuk more than he told Yu Kwon even if this information was about him. Yu Kwon didn’t seem in the right place of mind right now. Minhyuk never saw him so afraid of something before. It’s not like he’s afraid of hospitals or needles or anything of the like. He’s afraid that something wrong will go on in that operating room and he can never dance again. Block B is a priority but once Block B eventually disbands he’d still be dancing. Dancing has been with him his whole life; in face it is his whole life. Without it would be the equivalent of death to him… although that is a little bit of an exaggeration.
“Alrighty then, I will send various nurses to get you ready for the operation so don’t be alarmed if a different nurse comes in every five minutes. I will also send in the doctor who will be performing your surgery-“
“Wait, what? You’re not doing my surgery?” Yu Kwon seemed to snap back to his senses and questioned the doctor. He wasn’t sure if he really trusted another doctor.
“No need to be alarmed. Mrs. Kwon has done many foot surgeries and like I said, it’s very minor, it won’t be hard at all. Well, good day to you, Mr. Lee, Mr. Kim.” The doctor said those last words while slightly bowing then left the room.
Minhyuk sighed and let his hand drop to his side and started to walk away from the patient’s bed.
Yu Kwon grabbed his wrist before he was too far and it seemed that tears were about to fall from his eyes again. “Wait, Minhyuk. You said that you would stay with me…” He looked down, somewhat ashamed that he was so scared of surgery when he was 20 years old.
“I’m not leaving you, Kwonnie.” He smiled and the redhead let go of his wrist but Minhyuk continued to walk away from him.
“But-but…then where are you going?” He didn’t want the only person to comfort him to leave. He would be lonely and what if he didn’t return?
Minhyuk chuckled and put his hands on his hips. “I’m going to the bathroom, Yu Kwon. Don’t worry; I’m not leaving you here alone. Then I need to get me some food alright? We both haven’t eaten since breakfast yesterday so I bet you that our stomachs will start to cave in if we don’t eat something soon. Lucky for you though, they’ll bring you food but I have to go buy mine.” Yu Kwon let out a small laugh and nodded in agreement.
When Minhyuk was done with his business he bid Yu Kwon goodbye so he could go get himself food. He wandered around until he found a cafeteria and stepped inside the large room filled with doctors, visitors and some patients. He walked over and grabbed a red tray and started filling it with food. The cashier gave him a questioning look as if she knew him but he didn’t notice it as he was searching for his wallet. He patted his pockets and checked his jacket pockets. Nothing. He sighed and looked at the cashier who had a look of impatience across her face. He leaned in close and tried to put on the best seductive face he could.
“Would you mind… holding these for me? I’ll only be a minute.” He could feel the lady get red so he pulled back and smirked. She nodded and put the tray away from the other food so that it wouldn’t get mixed up with anyone else’s food. He winked and walked toward the door from which he came.
He was approaching his friend’s room but stopped as he heard the familiar voice talking. He must be talking to one of the nurses; I’ll just wait till she comes out. But…that doesn’t sound like he’s talking to a nurse…
“But yeobo… Yes… I know… But if we just tell everyone then it wouldn’t be a problem now would it? I just want to see you. I barely see you and now you can’t even see your boyfriend in the hospital because the press might find out? Why don’t- Yes… I know that they might not like it… I don’t know what the fans will think, either… No, I haven’t told the members but I can tell they’re starting to get suspicious. And it’s not like they’ll tell anyone! They’re idols too!.... Minhyuk hyung? He’s getting food, why? ...Hmm ok…alright. Maybe I’ll see you soon? Bye, noona.”
It didn’t even matter if Minhyuk was listening anymore. He was frozen in a state of shock, depression, anger, and confusion. He didn’t know what he was feeling but he knew he felt betrayed. He was finally getting over the whole issue because he really missed Yu Kwon. He missed being able to talk, laugh and dance with him. He liked sharing intimate moments and having skinship with him even if it was fanservice. But now that he knew the truth will it be the same? Can Minhyuk get over his love and deal with the fact that Yu Kwon loves someone else? He doesn’t know. All he does is put a hand over his mouth to try and muffle the sobs and tears pouring down his face while sinking to the floor.
