~10 years later~

Sandara's POV

"I'm coming after you, Dara!" Youngbae said as he was chasing me around the field. It has been ten years since the incident that nearly ruined his whole life. We had moved from that area, out to a more quiet and open place. Bae and I found this little field we could always hang out at whenever we were bored or whenever we wanted to let out some steam.

"Oh no you don't B-" He swiftly lifts me off my feet and he spins me around.

"Ahh!" I was getting dizzy, but I couldn't help but laugh.

Bae was still working as one of my dad's workers, and his job was to basically take care of me, as my own personal guard. He has always protected me from the smallest things, and that includes boys talking to me. I don't know why he is so over-protective. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know that I have a secret crush on him. He has been my best friend since we were little. I healed his broken heart, but along the way I couldn't help but fall for him, which is silly because he only sees me as his noona, nothing more, but I always thought of him as my prince. I didn't care if he was rich or poor.

Youngbae's POV

"Hahaha! Aren't you going to miss this, Dara?" I couldn't help but think that she was going away to college. I was going to be left behind because I could never afford to go. I was lucky enough that Mr. Park took me in. I'm glad that I was here for Dara, and that she was there for me from the beginning. I was going to miss my noona. I don't know if she knows this, but I have a secret crush on her. Ever since the day she vowed to heal my heart, I vowed to be there for her whenever she needed me. I always got jealous when another guy talked to her. I have always wanted to confess my feelings for her, but I didn't want to risk our friendship, and I didn't think that I would ever be good enough for her.

Dara's expression changed from a smile to a frown. "Of course, Bae..."

"Dara, I didn't mean to upset you, mianhe."

"No, you didn't, I was just thinking about all the fun times we had, and how I'm going to miss all of this." She said as she raised both hands in the air, referring to the open field that we had found and made special memories in.

"Bae?"

"Yes, Dara?"

"This is a silly question, but do you have a girlfriend?" She asked curiously.

I was shocked with that question.

Sandara's POV

l can't believe I just asked that question. I can be so stupid at times.

"Umm actually Dara, I don't... Haha Why?" He showed me his cute eye smile, which really made me feel warm inside.

"I was just wondering, can't your best friend ask?" I teased.

"Of course, Dara, you can always ask me anything. So, um, what about you? Do you have any crushes?" He asked.

"Umm.." I wanted to tell him that he was my crush, and that I wanted him to be my boyfriend. Instead I just kept it inside, and said, "There is actually one person who has already captured my heart, but I don't think he notices yet."

"Oh.." That was all he said. All the sudden his smile disappeared, and he became serious. 

"Dara, I have a question..." He looked at me right in the eyes.

"What is it, Bae?"

Youngbae's POV

I didn't want to hide it in anymore. I didn't want to lose her, and I didn't want any guy to have her but me. I had to ask her.

"Dara... Would you ever be with someone like me?"

She was surprised by that question, but she gave me a smile. She looked at me right in the eyes.

"Bae, who wouldn't want to be with a gentleman like you?"

I turned red and she continued. "I've always had a crush on you..."

"But what about the guy that you said who captured your heart?"

"It's you, Bae!" She giggled.

I was really happy. I'm glad that I had asked her that question. I hugged her tightly in my arms, not wanting to let go. I wanted to freeze time, and keep it at this moment.

"So is this your way of asking me to be your girlfriend, Youngbae?" She teases.

"Who said I was asking you to be my girlfriend?" I laughed. " I just wanted to know your opinion."

Her smile disappeared, and I quickly got up and took her hands.

"Dara.." I kneeled on the ground.

"Omo! Bae, what are you doing?"

"Relax, Dara! I'm not proposing or anything." I continued to smile.

"Then what are you doing?" She asks.

I took out the rings that I had always kept in my pocket. They weren't just any rings though, they were promise rings. I had saved enough money to have them made. I put mine on, and I took Dara's left hand.

"Dara, this is my promise to you that I will always love you, and that I will someday ask for your hand in marriage. I vow to be your best friend, and to never leave your side. Will you be my girlfriend?" I said truthfully.

Sandara's POV

I can't believe that he got promise rings. I was speechless after what he said. I was really happy at that moment. I started to have butterflies in my stomach, and I decided to answer his question.

"Bae, I would love to be your girlfriend, and I would have been a fool to say no. You have always protected me from everything. You have always been by my side. All throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school, you wouldn't let anyone touch me. I'm glad that you chose me as your best friend, and I couldn't even imagine a life without you in it." I kneeled down, level with him and I faced him. I leaned in to kiss him. Finally, he was mine.
