Chapter 25

Mending a Broken Heart(REPOST)

Junsu’s POV

“Changmin ah, will you just please stop walking around! You’re making me dizzy!” as I said this, I grabbed my dongsaeng’s hand and pulled him to sit beside me.

“Hyung, Jieun ah’s party’s this Saturday. And I still don’t have any idea what kind of gift to give her. Or clothes to wear.”

“Kim Changmin, you may not be part of the wealthiest family in Korea but you’re family’s rich enough that I’m sure we’ll find more than one pair of nice suits ni your closet.”

“Those are old, hyung.”

“Yah! Since when did you care about wearing old clothes? Besides, I’m pretty sure you haven’t even wear half of what you have…”

Changmin suddenly grabbed me by the arms and my words seemed to have gone unheard.

“Hyung, I know you love me so you’d go to the mall with me right? And help me find the perfect gift for Jieun sshi.”

“But Minnie ah I…” I hissed in protest as Changmin had already dragged me out of the house.

We strolled around the mall. A few hours later I was already exhausted from all the walking and being pulled from one store to another. Changmin still hasn’t found anything yet though.

“I swear I’ll leave you here alone if you still didn’t find anything for Jieun sshi.” I said as I sat down on one of the plastic bench in the food court. I placed the shopping bags I have and motioned for Min to take the seat opposite to mine. I said Changmin haven’t brought anything but I didn’t say I didn’t too, right? I couldn’t help myself when I saw that shirt on display and imagined Yoochun wearing it.

Changmin rolled his eyes but obliged and sat down as well. “Fine. Let’s rest for a while but we’ll still continue looking. Okay, hyung?”

“Even if is no you’d still dragged me anyways, right?” I said sarcastically. Changmin only grinned in return.

“So, what do you want me to go for you, hyung?”

“Just get me the same thing you’ll have.” I answered, looking up briefly to my dongsaeng then back again at my phone. Looking around as I waited for Changmin to come back, I blinked my eyes twice when I thought I saw Dongwook and Junki walking in a restaurant. Before I can take another look and confirm if it indeed was them, Changmin came back with a tray of food in his hand. When I made a quick glance back to the same direction I saw the two they were already gone like they never were there.

“Hyung, hurry up so we can start looking again.” Changmin shook at my hands.

As soon as I smelled the delicious food Changmin brought for us, I completely forgot about seeing Dongwook with Junki.

As we finished with our meal, I lifted the shopping bags from the chair and turned. We started walking around again.

“Hyung, do you think…” Changmin started, eyeing some rings and other jewelries at the jewelry store we passed by.

I shook my head and answered “no” quickly. “I don’t think giving her a ring or a necklace will be a very nice idea for now.

He sighed and pouted just like how Jae-hyung would. I ran my hand on my hair. My dongsaeng’s probably starting to feel tired as well. I definitely am. As I looked up again, my eyes found something from the inside of a store and a grin slowly split my pursed lips. “Minnie ah, I think I finally have an idea of the perfect gift you’ve been looking for!”

Jaejoong’s POV

Days passed by and before we knew it, we’re just a few hours away from attending Jieun ssi’s party.

I stood between Yunho’s legs as he’s comfortably seated on a stool. We didn’t care about the others, particularly Changmin, running around like crazy. We can only watch in amusement as they did so. My eyes fell on Yunho’s face when I felt his arms slide around my waist and pulled my closer. My hands lifted off from his shoulders and I took the initiative to fix his tie.

“You’re 20 and you still don’t know how to fix your tie properly. What a shame.”

“You know I did that on purpose, Boo. I wanted you to do it for me.”

“There.” I said, satisfied. My arms went back on his shoulders as I let my lower lip stick out.

“Boo, you keep on doing that so you can’t blame me if I do this. He’d had taken my face in his hand and pulled my face down for a kiss before I can even ask what he meant. I smiled against our kiss. Our lips would have stayed locked for a little longer if Yoochun didn’t enter the scene and interrupted us with his fake coughing.

“Hyung, we’re ready to go. We can leave you guys if you want more time.” Yoohun said with that devilish smile of his.

“Oh, shut up, Micky.” I glared at my goofy faced friend before I turned to Yunho. “I’ll just go and get my keys.”

“We’ll wait for you guys outside.” Yoochun shouted as he disappeared from the door.

*******************

So far, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves in the party. Not the grandest party I’ve attended, I must say but it’s still a party I won’t forget. I’m sure the guests will also remember the friendliness and the warm host as she welcomes each and every one of them.

“Thank you for coming, oppa.” Jieun bowed, thanking us more than once, more for our attendance than the gift we’ve just handed to her. Changmin greeted last, giving Jieun his gift along with a bouquet of flowers.

“Ha---happy birthday, Jieun ssi.” Changmin bit on his lips as he spoke. Judging by the looks on the YooSu and Yunho’s faces, I can say they’re just as amused as I am right now, to see my brother this shy.

“Aaww… our Minnie can’t even talk straight to her.” Yoochun cooed. He then held his hand up quickly when Junsu gave him a sharp look.

We were brought to our table located at one corner. Not far away from the crowd but not in the middle of them either. Jieun escorted us but then left after a while to welcome more guests. After Jieun made a short thank you speech, people stared to dance either in solo or in pairs. Not everyone’s enjoying time in the dance floor, though. Yoochun surely isn’t since Junsu refused to dance with him after catching him flirt with some girls. Or so Junsu claimed. Knowing how jealous Junsu can get sometimes, those girls were probably the one who was trying to hit on Yoochun. Too bad, Yoochun had to be the one to suffer because of that.

“Looks like Minnie ah’s not doing that bad after all.” I followed Yunho’s gaze and nodded. There on the center of the dance floor is Jieun sshi dancing with my brother.

Changmin’s POV

“Yunho and Jaejoong-oppa looks great together…like a married couple who stayed in-love with each other after decades and decades of being married to each other.”

I was too mesmerized by the closeness I have with Jieun. I don’t think I’d make sense if I tried to answer her so I just smiled. As I did so, my eyes was soon glued to her beautiful face.

“Changmin ssi?”

“Mian… mianhae… I didn’t mean to stare…I… you just look exceptionally beautiful tonight.” I said as I felt the rush of blood to my face.

“Thank you. I definitely have to thank my unnie for all the work she’s done for me today.” She laughed out her embarrassment, hiding the redness of her face.

“I hope you’ll like my present.” My eyes met Jieun’s.

“Do you mind telling me what it is?”

“No. But wouldn’t that ruin the idea of it being a present, to have it wrapped and all?”

She let out a soft laugh. “I’ll pretend you never told me afterwards…so?”

“It’s a…perfume.” I answered shyly after a while. “Junsu hyung helped me. He said that giving someone a perfume means they’re special to you.”

I quickly bit on my bottom lips when I realized just what I said. Seeing the expression on my face, I thought if it’s better to make and excuse and let it pass as a joke or if I should just tell her how I really feel right then and there. I decided to go for the latter.

“Jieun ssi… ilikeyoualot.” Whew! Glad I finally let that out. Now, my problem is if she heard it clear enough.

“You do?”

“Ne. And I was wondering, wanting to ask if…Jieun ssi, will you go out on a date with me?”

I waited for her answer. It could only mean what it means and I’m already preparing for myself for the worst. A yes is a yes.

A no is a no. if she says no then I’m going to have to hide for a for some time, try to avoid bumping into her at school because I don’t think I’ll be able to face her once she says no…

“Yes.” And if she says no then..wait,what? Did I hear her correctly? Did she say - “Yes, I would love to go out on a date with you, Changmin ssi.”

“You will? Are you serious?”

“I know I’m smiling but I’m pretty sure I’m serious when I said yes.” She answered with a smile.

“Thank you.” I was speechless just by getting a yes. I pray that I didn’t look as idiotic as I think I appear to be, gaping at Jieun after she answered. She placed his hands back on my shoulder and we continued dancing, staring into each other’s eyes.

Yoochun’s POV

I finally got Junsu to talk and dance with me but that is after Yunho-hyung talked to him. We were dancing near Changmin and Jieun and heard everything, well most of what they’ve talked about, especially when Jieun answered yes to our youngest brother. We heard the relief and happiness in his voice when Jieun agreed to go out with him.

The night would have been perfect if not for the appearance of two people. Everything’s great until I caught sight of them. Since my concentration was slightly taken away from him, Junsu looked up and followed my gaze.

“Is that…” I nodded at the question I knew was coming. Junsu took a quick glance back at ourtable where both Yunho and Jae-hyung are talking animatedly. Both of them don’t seem to have noticed the arrival of Heechul and Junki. If it’s possible, I’d want them to stay that way. Yunho-hyung have his arms around the back of Jae-hyung's chair, his other hand waving in the air as he talks. Hankyung who was with them was staring at Jae hung who was blushing profusely at something, only making the other men around the table laugh harder. At this, Jae-hyung tried to hit Yunho-hyung but his boyfriend was much faster and caught his hands, pulling him in close for a kiss causing hyung's face to turn even redder that I can see how much his face had turned red.

When I shifted my head back to where I saw the other couple, they were noweher to be found. And I didn't want to bother looking for them BUT I did try scanning through the crowd, just in case. Su and I forgot about seeing them for the next few hours or so, hoping, on the back of our heads, that the appearance of those two won't cause any trouble for our hyungdeul.

Jaejoong's POV

I splashed water on my face once more, trying to the wash away the effect of the light alcohol we we're drinking back outside. I sighed when I took a glance at my watch and saw the time. It's almost 12 midnight, no wonder I was also starting to feel sleepy. As late as the time might seem for me, the party seems to only be starting, really, with all the people that's still arriving.

When the door to the men's room creaked open, I didn't bother opening my eyes to see who it was who entered. It might just be just another of Jieun ssi's guest. My eyes only flew open when I felt an unleaving presence behind me.

"Jaejoong?" Lifting my gaze up, I found Junki's reflection staring back at me from the mirror. His voice was devoid of the arrogance and mockery that I'd always hear in his voice whenever I'd encounter him. The last one being months ago that I couldn't really remember.

Not knowing and not really having to say to the other, I turned to make a move towards the door. Junki quickly stepped up, blcoking my way. "No, wait, Jaejoong." I look at the hand that was suddenly holding me on the arms. "I need to tell you something. Can we please talk?"

"We have nothing to talk about, Junki." I said with a steady voice. If this happened a year ago, I bet I would have break down by now and have made a complete fool of myself. Things are different now. None of those things I thought will happen now.

"Look, Jae...I know that we weren't exactly parted ways as friends. And I've been wanting to apologize, to say sorry...for everything I did."

My browse knitted, having so used to how rudely he acts before, of course I was taken aback by what how he's acting now.

Plus, Junki is... apologizing… Is it the end of the world? Lee Junki doesn't know how to admit his mistakes, much more to say he was sorry and now...wow! I would have made a sarcastic remark if I didn't hear the sincerity in his voice. Sure, he isn't the time to apologize and all, he also isn't the type who let people know of his real feelings but if he does, he means it.

"I know what I did to you was...unforgiveable... but I'm still hoping that in time, you'll be able to forgive me." Junki finished. A small smile made its way on my face as I finally meet his eyes. Patting him in the shoulder, I finally made my exit from the men's room.

----------------------------------------

A sigh escaped my mouth the moment I was out. Having told Junki, somehow, that he's forgiven felt really really good, it's like as if a heavy burden was lifted off of my shoulders.

My smiled went wider when I caught sight of Yunho as I made my way back to our table. As if feeling me nearing, Yunho moved his head towards my direction and smiled, his smile turning into a silly grin as I finally sat down beside him. My arms s around his waist as I leaned my head against his chest.

"Yunho-ah..." I whispered softly.

"Hmm?"

"Sarangeh."

----------------------------------------

Later that very same day, somewhere in Seoul.

"I saw you. You and Jaejoong." Heechul confronted his lover while gritting his teeth. Junki had his back on Heechul, removing his clothing off, his face reflecting his annoyance. Heechul has been repeatedly bugging him about that since earlier.

"Chul, it's not like we did anything behind your back."

"Oh yeah?" Heechul snickered. "You two were in the men's room for a couple of minutes and you'll tell me nothing happened?"

"What do you want me to, Chul?"

"I want you to tell me the truth, Junki!"

"I AM telling you the truth but you won't believe me so believe whatever you want for all I care!"

With an accusing look, Heechul stood up from their bed. "You still love him, don't you?"

"I'm not even answering that."

"Why not? Because it's the truth, isn't it?" Heechul had pulled Junki by the collar of his polo shirt.

"Look, I'm tired. Let's just talk about this tomorrow when you're sane. For now, I'm going to sleep at my house and wait until you cooled down."

"Trying to avoid the question, huh?" Heechul pressed in further. "Just admit it, Junki! You still love him don't you?!"

Junki raised both of his hands in the ear and in a nearly screaming voice, answered. "Fine! Just so you'll shut up. Yes! I still love him! I'm crazy about him. I never stopped loving him! Are you happy now?!"

"I see. Thanks for telling me the truth."

Junki saw the pain in his lover’s eyes and he nearly took his words back.

"If that's the case, why are we still together then, Junki?" Heechul looked up to his lover.

"Chullie ah, please, let's talk this out"

"Goodbye, Junki."

Sighing in resignation, Junki knew Heechul won't talk to him, not when his mind's clouded with jealousy. "Call me when you're ready to talk and listen to me. I'll wait for you."

When Junki stepped out of their shared home, Heechul bit on his bottom lips, letting the tears he's been trying to hold escape his eyes. "Kim Jaejoong, you'll pay for this!"
