"That's My Girl"
World Changed By Him
"I got money now.
I can buy Grannie that chocolate bar." I smiled at the thought.
Then I skipped back at the convenient store to buy the chocobar.
I bought 2 of it and happily headed home.
Our house is just big enough for us three.
Living with me is my grandpa and Gongchan.
I love them very much.
Gongchan's younger by a year.
Grannie had been my mom and dad ever since he found me at 'Home for lost Angels' orphanage.
"Grannie I'm home!"
"Apo(grandson/granddaughter)!" he greeted back.
"Here. I bought you chocolates." I handed him the chocobars.
He happily opened it and took a bite.
"hmmm. Taste good.
Where's yours?" he asked.
"ah. I already ate it."
I lied.
Seeing my grannie look satisfied, makes me full and relieves my stress.
"What do you want to eat gran?
Do you want fried chicken or pork?" I showed him the foods I bought.
"Oh? Where did you get those?
It isn't your salary day yet.
Hara! Did you-" he was suspecting.
"Eh. Grannie.
I didn't stole this.
I'm a good apo so I always obey my lolo (grandpa).
I just saw a guy drop his wallet.
And as you always say, give back things to the owner.
And so I gave it back to him.
Then he gave me php5,000 as a thank you gift." I explained.
He was eating while listening to me.
"That's my girl." he ruffled my hair.
I smiled at him.
Grannie had always been a great 'lolo' for me.
He has full Filipino blood and he married my lola (grandma) who was a Korean.
Lola already passed away, while umma and appa have families of their own, separately.
Grandpa and Gongchan are the only relative I have 'cause our other relatives lives in Pampanga,Philippines.
We have an older sister, but I don't know where she is now.
Gongchan is working too. He's a service crew. He often come home late at night.
And yeah, speaking of Pampanga, this place is known for the best foods made by the 'Kapampangan' [A/N: called for citizens living in Pampanga].
Back then, when we still have money and when we still are a happy family, Umma and Grannie used to cook Kapampangan dishes and 'sisig' was one of our favorites.
We were happy back then.
And I miss those times.
I miss my parents, and mostly, I miss my ate (unnie/noona).
I wonder where she is now.
I hope she's fine.
