Losing Track

Fanfic Peeves

I dislike it so much when authors lose track of the name's of their minor characters!

 

I might be reading a story that's what 20 chapters long and as I'm trying to catch up, the best friend maybe called Yuna.

And then SUDDENLY, chapter 13 is saying that the bestie is called Rim or something!

I mean, it causes so much confusion and I'm staring at the screen thinking, is this a new character or not??

 

Details other than names are also forgotten. Sometimes, the girl is a orphan and as if by magic, her mom is at home, cooking for her!

If you think that you won't be able to remember then don't risk it. 

Go back to check your chapters just in case or write these small details down so you can refer back to them easily.

 

Sure, you may be lazy like me and think your current readers won't remember or something, but new readers will be reading chapter after chapter and realize that small mistakes are being made.

Chapter 25: omg this really bothers me as well and it makes me give up on the fic because if they use it too much it gets super annoying. I just want to read fluently in English in my head...

Chapter 27: I have two friends who are scared of thunder and they would cling onto me whenever the thunder starts roaring. Honestly it's a bit annoying cause I personally find the sound of thunder and rain really calming. LOL I'm so weird XD
