It's frustrating when a fanfic skips around their storyline too much.

It gets really confusing for a reader because

1. You don't know what's going on

and 

2. All the above.

I understand that it's hard to get every thing you want in a chapter and you miss details.

Before I said too much detail is boring but too little can create holes in a story.

Brainstorming individual chapters help because then, you know exactly what's going to happen and nothing is missed out.
