This is regarding arranged marriage stories and as much as I like them, I agree with this peeve.

The stories these days have the SAME reactions!

You should know what I'm talking about.

For instance, the parents finally announce their decision and the lead ALWAYS says something along these lines:

"WHAT?! I'm getting married?!?"

"No! I don't want to get married to this guy!"

It's really predictable and makes me roll my eyes because I see this image of a whining, spoilt girl.

It would be nice to get a different reaction don't you think. Especially one not consisting of those words up there.

For example:

"I refuse to marry and I will forever refuse to marry any man you choose for me" I said with finality.

or

"Argh are you actually kidding me? I've barely finished school and already you're marrying me off to another family!" I shouted, wanting to grab my mom's favourite vase and throw it across the room.

Sometimes their reactions can even be calmer you know. Like, um...

"Him?" I pointed to the man on the sofa, "Andwae!" I crossed my arms like a defiant child.

A lot of things in fanfics like these are quite predicatable so it would be nice to read something thats unexpected and surprises you.
