Sakura stood in front of Eunbi’s ward door. He had been standing there for 10 minutes, holding onto a bouquet of roses; her favorite but didn’t have the courage to go in. It was only two days since she woke up but every time, she gave that confused look at him, Sakura felt like dying. Why couldn’t she remember him? She remembered everyone including Chaewon and Hodong but not him. Why? Sakura didn’t understand it. If she really had amnesia, why is it only him? Sakura felt someone placed a hand on his shoulder from behind.

“Don’t you want to go in, Kkura?”

“Minju.”

“Everything is going to be okay.”

Minju couldn’t help but lie. She herself had no idea when Eunbi would recover. But she felt Sakura needed that lie. He looked miserable.

“What if she never will ever regain her memory?”

Sakura turned around and Minju saw his eyes glistening with tears. It broke her heart watching her boss like this.

“She will, Kkura, because she loves you. Trust her.”

Sakura searched any truth in Minju’s eyes. What he saw disappointed him. But he knew Minju said so just for assurance. One he needed the most.

“Thank you, Minju.”

“Go inside. I know you miss her.”

Sakura gave a weak node and placed his hand on the doorknob. He hesitated but he misses her. He loves her so much that not being beside her killed him slowly inside. Sakura turned the doorknob and walked inside. Minju didn’t follow and let the guy in. No matter what happened, Eunbi was still his wife. He was still her husband. Sakura got in and closed the door behind him.

“Sakura?”

That voice. Oh, how much he misses it. Sakura looked up and saw Eunbi flashing that familiar smile he had always admired.

“Hi, Eunbi.”

“Daddy told me you’re coming.”

“Ahh, he did?”

Eunbi nodded. Sakura walked towards her and sat down on the empty seat next to her bed. He gave the roses to her.

“I saw it on my way here. I thought you might like it.”

Eunbi took it and smiled again.

“Thank you.”

She placed it down next to her totally not noticing the smile from Sakura’s face was wiped out.

“I don’t really like roses, but thanks anyway. How are you, Sakura?”

She didn’t like it? Since when? Sakura didn’t know what to feel. This is his Eunbi but for some reason, the Eunbi he felt in love for years wasn’t here with him. Sakura hid his disappointment well.

“I’m fine. You?”

“I barely woke up from a comma and have a casted arm. But all in all, I’m feeling okay.”

“Do you want me to get you something?”

Eunbi giggled and it sounded heaven to Sakura.

“I’m fine, Sakura. I can’t let you go all the troubles. Wonyoung already took care of everything.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Sakura?”

“Yes?”

“You no need to come here all the time. I’m only making you put a lot of efforts.”

Sakura couldn’t help but look back at her and let himself drown in her eyes. He knew what Eunbi was trying to say. He was nobody to her so why was he coming here more than he should?

“I-I don’t want you to get bored. That’s all.”

Sakura placed his hands on top of hers, but Eunbi quickly pulled away. She looked away and pulled the blanket closer to her. Sakura reluctantly stood up. He knew that sign. She wanted him out.

“I-I’m sorry.”

Eunbi kept on avoiding his eyes. Sakura sighed. He always screwed up and each time Eunbi would feel uncomfortable with him. Who was he kidding with? He was nobody to Eunbi other than Kwon Changmo’s business partner.

“I’ll go now. If you have…”

“I’m fine. But thank you.”

Eunbi cut in before he could finish his sentences. Sakura gave one last look before walking out of her room. The moment the door closed behind him, Sakura leaned back. It hurts a lot when that one person you love so much was not avoiding you. He had lost her. He had lost Eunbi. Chaewon watched Sakura from afar. He couldn’t let this go for so long. He had to do something. Chaewon took out his phone and dialed a number that he never forgot.

“Hello?”

“Oh, hyung?”

Chaewon leaned back on the wall.

“We have to do something. This is getting crazy.”

“I know, hyung. I’m on it. I have a plan.”

“Okay. Update me on everything.”

“Sure.”

He ended the call and sighed. He won’t let his friend be so torn inside like this. He had to do something. Anything.

Eunbi was breathing hard. She felt suffocated each time she encountered Sakura. His presence itself made her crave him even more. Everything about him made her miss him. His touch, his loving gaze, and his voice. Everything that she had planned was almost ruined, but Eunbi held it in for his sake. She couldn’t cry anymore and let herself succumb in despair of losing him. It was for the best. Eunbi placed her hand on her now flat stomach. She hated losing the baby. The one thing that she feared the most was her baby taken away from her. She had cried her eyes out every time no one was inside her room. She couldn’t tell them that she knew about the baby, so she had to pretend everything was okay.

“I’m sorry I can’t protect you. Mommy loves you. Always.”

If she had more time and if she didn’t marry Sakura, her baby might still be alive. Maybe in the next 3 months, she got to know her baby gender. But Eunbi never blamed anyone for anything. She was thankful. Because of her baby, she had a great marriage and being married to Sakura was a blessing. It was time to let it go. She never deserved it. Eunbi wiped away her tears before it could make it down her chin. She had to remain calm, afraid that someone else might come in and her secret would be exposed.

Changmo and Wonyoung walked inside Eunbi’s ward and Eunbi greeted them with a smile. But Wonyoung noticed her sister’s solemn face. It was just a moment before it was replaced with a huge smile. Maybe she might over think. Both hugged Eunbi and sat down. Changmo took a seat in front of the bed and Wonyoung sat next to her where Sakura had sat early on.

“Sorry, we were late, Eunbi.”

Eunbi shook her head.

“No, it’s okay, Daddy. It is still early.”

Eunbi glanced at her sister.

“Don’t you have school, Wonyoung?”

“Exam ended already. Let me have some vacation, unnie.”

Eunbi just laughed when Wonyoung pouted at her. She then turned back towards her father. She had decided. One that would separate her and Sakura.

“Daddy, can we go home?”

“Honey, you can’t go home yet but I’ll try and talk to the doctor. Maybe she can give us an exception. Plus, I already asked for cleaners to clean our old house in Seoul.”

“No, Daddy. I mean back to the States. Can we go back? I miss my college friends and my life over there. Plus, you said it yourself, I’m only here for a vacation, right? Can I?”

Eunbi saw the shocked expression on Changmo and Wonyoung’s faces. She couldn’t stay here anymore. She couldn’t stay in the same place where Sakura was around. She had to learn to let him go. He had to learn and let her go.

“Please, Daddy?”

Changmo slowly nodded. Eunbi’s health and wishes were his priorities. If she wanted to go back, then he would make it happen.

“Sure, honey. I’ll go and have a talk with the management.”

Changmo stood up and left the two sisters alone. Eunbi forced another smile, but this time Wonyoung sensed something was wrong. She knew her sister like the back of her palm. Something was not right.

“Unnie, are you sure about this?”
