"I didn't know you could drive." Minju passes the latter's jacket back to her. Yujin waited till she entered before closing the door and going to the driver's seat. The mall wasn't too far from the cafe where Yujin parked.

The younger girl started the engine, adjusting the brunette's seat so it wasn't too far back, just nice for those fairly long legs of hers. "I took my license the moment I turned eighteen and this car came with it," she says. "A hand-me-down from my mom." It was a white, five-seater Audi. "Can you drive?" She saw Minju shaking her head.

"You don't want to or you can't?"

"Let's just say I prefer to be a professional passenger."

"So, you're a passenger princess." She snickers. "I think that suits you." She reverses the car, checking the side mirrors.

"I don't trust myself. I'll definitely crash into something if someone makes me drive."

"Have you tried?"

"I better not. My sense of direction is not the best, so I should be a passenger. For the safety of others."

Yujin glances at her with a smile on her lips. The brunette looks out the window to see buzzing streets. As they leave the city, peace fills the atmosphere. The stars begin to twinkle above, their distant light punctuating the darkness.

"Do you like night drives?"

Minju leaned back in her seat, a fond smile tugging at her lips. "But I didn't get to do it a lot."

"Why?"

"We didn't have time."

"Did you two go to different universities?" Yujin stole a quick glance, making sure the aircon didn't directly blast into the girl's face. "She drives?" That earned her another nod, now knowing why Minju's a professional passenger.

"Driving along the coasts was the best thing to do after a long day," the brunette says. "You do nothing and listen to your favourite songs. It's pleasant."

"You do nothing but the driver has to drive."

"And that," Minju responded with a gentle laugh, acknowledging her role as the passenger princess.

"Should we go to the beach then? Are you a beach person?"

"Absolutely."

Yujin turns to another route that leads them to the beach. "I don't think there are many people now."

"I have an important question."

Yujin chuckled at the sudden announcement. "Ask away."

"Are you rich?"

Minju's seriousness caught the girl off guard. "I guess I have a competitor in the category of being straightforward."

"Does your family own any business?"

"I wish."

"I'm being serious."

"No," Yujin says in the middle of a chuckle. "Unfortunately, even with this car, I have nothing but dreams. I question if I live in my imagination most of the time."

"You don't have to take over anything?"

"I'm not the most involved with things revolving around my family. They're just there for support, I guess. If that's enough for you—I don't know why that matters." She mumbled towards the end.

"Okay." Minju seemed satisfied with that answer yet the taller girl was left in the dark.

"What was all that?"

"Nothing."

Yujin had no idea how she should take in that whole minute. "Did I really just declare how broke I am?" She mutters under her breath. It felt like a speed interview for no apparent reason.

She reaches into the compartment and passes her phone to Minju.

"What do you want me to do with this?"

"Your number," the younger girl glances at her.

"I don't feel like giving it to you." Minju plays around yet she has Yujin's phone in her hands. "Why should I give it to you?"

"Do I actually need a reason?" she pondered aloud. She sensed Minju's nod and continued, her gaze fixed on the dimly illuminated street. "For insurance purposes."

Minju couldn't help but laugh. "What kind of reason is that?"

"In case I get blinded by you. You'll have to compensate for being too pretty."

"Did you just try to use a pick-up line on me? It's not going to work." Minju shakes her head and hears a light chuckle.

"It's fine if you don't wanna give it to me. I'll always know where to find you. Should I do that? I think it's more exciting." Yujin's eyes lit up. "I don't think we have a normal relationship either."

"What relationship?"

"You're not my friend, you're not a stranger. Yet you're my date for today."

"We can be friends."

"You said you didn't want to be just friends."

"You know what I mean."

Yujin wasn't clueless. She could tell Minju was trying to open up to someone new after going through a breakup. Yujin was also moving on and fully understood what the girl wanted.

"Do you want this whole thing to be exciting, or do you just want to give me your number like everyone else would?"

"You want an honest answer?"

"Yes, please." Yujin parks the car at the designated area and looks at Minju. The girl politely returns Yujin's phone with two hands. "Okay. You like fun." She unbuckles her seatbelt.

They got out of the car, immediately greeted by the vast winds blowing past the shores.

"Wow." Yujin felt the chills run down her spine as the cool air slithers all over her skin. "You're not cold?" Minju wore her beloved light blue cardigan.

The brunette couldn't help but nod frantically, making Yujin laugh. "She's cuter than I thought," she mumbles, taking the jacket from the back seat. "We can just stay here. I'll open the boot." Yujin gave her outerwear to Minju before going to the front so she could open the boot.

The younger girl shifts her school stuff away, letting Minju sit. "What's all this?" The brunette examines the tubes a person can find in an art room.

"Like you said. I draw. This is how I keep them." Yujin rolls one of the tubes further in as she sits next to her. She saw that look whenever Minju was curious about something. "Do you want to see it?"

"Can I?"

Yujin snickers when her intuitions are right about her. She reaches for one grey tube, opening the top of it. "Be gentle with it. I spent hours doing this one." She pulls out a roll of paper and hands it to Minju.

The brunette carefully unrolled and was astonished by the details of this house drawn just above the shore of a river. Two-storey cement building with a big glass window facing the vast river. "You drew this?"

"Isn't it nice? Imagine waking up to mountains and rivers. I think it'll be the best retirement plan." She motions her hand across the beach in front of them.

"What about crocodiles?"

Yujin's smile was wiped off. "Why would there be crocodiles?"

"Don't crocodiles live in rivers?"

"Not in this one. Why would someone build a house at a place infested with crocodiles?"

"You said river."

"I did. Not swamps." Yujin sees her face of realisation. "I forgot you're a doctor, not a zookeeper. I think we'd all be dead if you were one."

Minju slaps her arm as her nose catches a whiff of floral perfume. Yujin caught it too, the moment the sketch unrolled, in fact.

"It's coming from your drawing." Minju noticed. She didn't smell the paper but it was intense.

Yujin lets out a small sigh. When a person leaves you, there are still ways for them to linger around you. Her scent was the one thing that stayed with Yujin. "Perfume," she says, recalling the nights she spent doing this project with her ex.

Minju heard the flatness in her voice just from one word. "Ah, it's not yours." She came to realise what Yujin meant.

The younger girl st

Chapter 45: Awww. First time yujin hurt her (unintentionally). But totally understandable. :( at least at the end of the day they are still putting their partner’s feelings before themselves. Being selfless. Thanks for the update author. I love this story so much and it definitely deserves a thousand upvotes. Fighting!

Chapter 43: Oh my god. Thank you for this update. But god, this is so heartbreaking. 😭 especially since he feels like he’s actually Yujin’s father. What an update. I never would have expected this from the title. You actually kept me on the edge all throughout so I thought that our dearest couple would be experiencing their first fight, but I never expected someone dying. May God bless his soul. And if he really is who I think he is, then I hope our couple gets even more stronger. Thank you so much for making the time to update despite your busy schedule author. I’ll b waiting with respect for the next one. Fighting!
