The following days went quite fast to Yeri.

On Tuesday after their meeting with Taeyeon and Donghae, she went with Joohyun and the rest upon Seungwan’s request. This was because of the current state Seulgi was in due to her boyfriend. Seungwan decided that she herself can’t solve the problem alone, so she invited the rest thinking that maybe one of them can help Seulgi. Again, Seungwan escaped using the window and was fetched by Hoseok. They agreed to meet up at the library since people don’t visit it often.

“Hi, I’m Hoseok, Seungwan’s friend.” He said.

Hoseok knew the rest of the girls already except for Yeri.

“I’m Yeri, from the Kim’s family.”

“Ah right, I knew your brother. He is Kim Junmyeon right?”

Joohyun flinched when she heard his name, but the rest of the girls didn’t notice.

“Yes he is my brother. Nice meeting you by the way.”

“Nice meeting you too. Anyway I have to go now. Jaehyun might be waiting for me.”

“Jaehyun?”

I should have kept my mouth shut.

“Oh, he’s my cousin. Anyway, bye.”

Hoseok entered his car and left. Yeri then felt the malicious stares from the rest of them.

“What?”

She is interrogated like a spy who was caught in a war for the next hour. Now, everyone knows about Yeri and Jaehyun. Next up was Joohyun. Yeri was a great help in interrogating her since: a) her brother is involved, and b) Joohyun refused to help her when she was interrogated. She did get her revenge by playing the recording of her brother confessing from last week.

“Give me your phone Yeri.”

“Run Yeri. Run.” Sooyoung said.

“Why?” Yeri asked.

“You won’t like her when she is angry. I’ve seen it once when my brother with Junmyeon oppa. He swore to never again.”

“Oh .” She said as she gave her phone without hesitation.

Joohyun reached for it, and found the file in the recording then deleted it. She then returned it back to Yeri.

Little did she know that I could recover the recording back from the trash. I guess she is an oldie.

They all seem to have forgotten about the reason why they were called there. Luckily, Seungwan remembered it and the topic was brought back again.

“Why can’t you break up with him?” Sooyoung asked.

“I can’t. I’m being threatened.”

“What?”

“My family borrowed a huge amount of money from them. This was because our business was almost bankrupt. We did survive the bankruptcy, and then earned tons of money quite fast due to being hired by the Kim family; yes the rival Kim, to build their buildings.”

“Basically, the Kims and the Parks were the reason why you are here.” Yeri stated.

“Yes, they are. Back to the Parks, we started paying back our loans to them, but they suddenly changed the amount of interest.”

“What the .” Sooyoung exclaimed.

“Language.” Seungwan reminded me.

“Sorry.” She said apologetically.

“I don’t know how they did it, but somehow the contract was changed. Of course, we had our own copy of the contract. We had a legal battle against them two years ago, yet we lost.”

“Do you think the judge in the legal battle is paid?” Yeri asked.

“I am speculating about it, but I can’t find proper evidence.”

“Is the judge from the public or private sector?” She interrogated again.

“Private. Why are you interrogating me?”

“I guess I’m curious.”

“The way you were asking me makes me feel like I’m a suspect of crime or something.”

“I’m sorry for my way of speaking.”

“It’s okay, back to the topic. The judge is from the company of the Kims.”

“The Kims and the Parks were in this together I guess. We cannot accuse them when we had no evidence, and also they got a lot of influence on their side so it’s quite difficult to battle them.” Seungwan said.

“Right, we can’t fight them. Wait, wasn’t this about you and Jimin? Why are we talking about legal battles?” Joohyun asked.

“You see, I myself made a plan to get my family out of the debt.”

“And your plan is to seduce Jimin, and hope that he will marry you so that the debt can be forgotten?” She asked again.

“Precisely, of course you all know that it backfired. Breaking up with him may lead to the interest doubling up again since they are close with the Kims. My sister resented me for that.”

“That’s Mina right?” Yeri asked.

“Yeah, she’s my sister.”

“Last question, how did your family manage to still be on rank 11?” Joohyun asked.

“You see, my father has no plans on paying the debt yet.”

Days later, Yeri was invited by Koeun to talk about their old days. She was fetched at her home by Koeun then they drove to the park. Yeri then met Koeun’s friends who were also Mark’s club mates. She met them on video calls before, but this is the first time they met together in person. One of their friends, Hina, arrived late as she is from Japan.

“So all of us were friends before?” Yeri asked Koeun when they were left behind as the rest went to buy food.

“We were. I’m quite sad that you lost your memory.”

No I didn’t. This isn’t my memory.

“Yeah. It is unfortunate that I couldn’t remember what happened years ago.”

“You know what, you were the one who actually told us to audition at the club.”

“Me?”

“Yes. It was your idea to join the club. Actually, most of us were quite shy at that time, so we disagreed with it. Then you left, without saying goodbye. We ended up joining the club because of you.”

“So that’s what happened.”

“We were in 8th grade at that time I think. By the way, you were Jaehyun’s fiancé, right?”

Why are you bringing up this topic out of nowhere?

“Yes.”

“It’s arranged right?”

“Yeah.”

“Do you know that you two were close years ago?”

“We were?”

“You two were inseparable. You weren’t in a relationship, but you two were very close friends.”

“I can’t remember.”

“Understandable. Anyway, he actually joined the club because of you.”

The power of Kim Yeoreum. I can’t believe she made him join the club.

“Oh right, he was actually sad when you left. You got into an accident during Mark’s birthday. Every year on Mark’s birthday, he refused to go out and celebrate.”

“What exactly happened years ago?”

“Your family didn’t tell you?”

She shook her head.

“Okay, maybe your family doesn't want to tell you about it. Wanna know?”

“Please tell.”

“Okay. I think this happened six years ago. Wait. Do you wanna hear the facts or the rumours first?”

 “The facts first.”

“Okay. So you got into an accident years ago, but on the same day, another incident happened.”

“What?”

“A kidnapping of a teen.”

If the accident and the kidnapping are connected, then I might be living a life poorly written by a bored teenager.

“Scary.”

“It is. More details, Lee Taemin, whose family used to own a large investment company, kidnapped a teen. On the same day, a man was found dead.  He is believed to be an accomplice of Taemin who is shot by the police. The man who was shot is Park Kyung, a member of the Park family who owns a lending company. The kid was nowhere to be found. Along with the teen, his older cousin was nowhere to be found after this. This caused his family in a severe depression, which forced them back to live in the mainland. They were soon replaced by the Kang family, who owns a construction firm. Coincidentally, the kid and his older cousin bear the same family as the new family although they aren’t related.”

Their conversation was cut off when the rest of the girls came back with food. They all had fun at the park for the rest of the afternoon. The happenings made Yeri realize that there are a lot of things that she needed to learn in order to live here. The list of these things will soon be added as the opening of classes will come.

The classes began on March 4, a day before the said birthday of the girl Yeri is playing as. She prepared for her classes days before by buying school supplies and telling herself to calm down. Then the classes had started.

Since it is the first day of the class and she is a freshman, the whole day will be dedicated to orientation, thus she ended up not bringing any notebook. As usual, she rode with her cousins using the van. They arrived minutes early before the orientation started.

The whole morning is really boring. It is an opening program full of speeches which Yeri really dislikes. The first to give the speech was their chancellor, Lee Sooman, who has the same name as the robot in the governor’s hall. She then learned that Lee Sooman is the uncle of Lee Eunhyuk, so this makes sense. Then the names of deans of each college were introduced. In Yeri’s college, she learned that their dean is Boa Kwon, one of the youngest deans in the whole university, the other being Jung Yunho, who is a cousin of Jaehyun, according to Mark. The program ended during lunchtime.

In the afternoon, the first year students were each oriented at an auditorium in their respective departments. The upper years were also in there. One of the upper years was Joohyun, who was sitting next to a good looking man. They waved upon seeing each other. I shouldn’t assume things like this. Joohyun unnie already has Junmyeon as her fiancé.

The afternoon program was also boring. The first part was mostly about what subjects are supposed to be taught to each level. The subjects required to be taken by their college were History, Economics, Sociology, and Law. History is her most favourite subject so she is glad about it. The subjects that are required by the school to take are, Basic Math, Home Technology, and Information Technology. Music, Physical Education, Art, and Language were also required by the school.

In Music, you get to learn the basics in the first semester, then choose an instrument to play in the second semester. Art has choices ranging from what medium of art it is like, painting, sculpting, animation, and many more. Physical education is quite similar to art; you are free to choose what sport you are going to play. Yeri chose chess due to it being the least physical activity, although they are required to warm up exercises which she found weird. Lastly, the language subject must be different each year. For example, in the first year you chose English, but in the second year you need to choose a language other than English. That’s how complicated their system is.

The last part is what everyone is most excited about. It is a school festival competition. Almost everyone likes to compete. People are shown to be agitated during competitions. This also serves as a break for students who are tired of learning.

A competition can be anything. It can be sports or other things such as music or art. The university doesn’t host competition
