In their next meeting which is on Friday, Yeri planned to confront both Donghyuck and Seonghwa with this. Of course, she already learned from her past experience in confronting Jungkook. Her mistake was, someone wasn’t there with her side. This could lead her to a lot of things such as being kidnapped or being killed on the spot.

Her plan is to ask them casually after their meeting when the other members are still around. Chances are, they’re gonna say that either they don’t know it or they saw it on the floor. There is a high probability that they will have the same answer so asking them together might show the real owner.

“Donghyuck. Seonghwa.”

“What?”

Seonghwa just looked at her.

“Is this yours?” She showed the picture of the badge from her phone. The real item is left with Aeri for analysis since they planned to track down the one who made this pin.

“Oh I remember that. It was on the floor near you, so I picked it up and placed it near where you placed your bag. So that wasn’t yours?” Donghyuck asked as he pointed to Yeri.

“Yes it wasn’t mine. Seonghwa, is that yours?”

“No. Saw it in my classroom, then brought it because it looks cool. Must’ve fallen somewhere.” He motioned to the direction of his department while saying the word “classroom”.

This is the longest I heard him speak. Anyway, their body language says that they’re telling the truth. They are telling the story while using their hands.  Donghyuck pointed to me, Seonghwa pointed to his department. They are both looking at me when they are saying their alibis. Their hands aren’t sweaty either.

If Seonghwa is telling the truth then we need to find someone in his classroomTheir alibis are not believable at all, in contrast to their body language. Donghyuck’s life wouldn't be true if Seonghwa didn’t say that he brought it here. Donghyuck’s life depends on Seonghwa’s answer since Seonghwa did it first. Wait, I’m confused. If Seonghwa is telling the truth then Donghyuck is also telling the truth then both of their alibis are true. If Seonghwa is lying while Donghyuck is telling the truth, the result can be true. If Seonghwa is being truthful while Donghyuck is lying, the result is... Whatever, I’m doing this wrong. I already forgot the logic tables.

I’m surprised no one denied knowing about the ring. I haven’t told them about their fingerprints being in the ring. Why did no one deny it? Did they predict that we will run a test about it? That means they know about us knowing about them. That sounds weird. Possibly because they saw us with Hyunggu during that crash?

So all I need to do is to search whoever the owner is in Seonghwa’s classroom. Unfortunately, this will be hard since only both of their fingerprints are found. This means that the owner is a very careful person. Wait if the owner is very careful, why did him or she or whatever they are, lose the badge? Seonghwa might be lying. I have to be careful of him. If he is indeed lying, it will be hard to catch him since he can possibly control his body’s reaction to lying. He is probably trained to do that.

Of course she then told her cousins about that. The whole situation became either more complex or easier. Seonghwa is their lead, but then again nobody knows if he is lying or not, thus making this investigation harder.

A week later, volleyball practice started. Unfortunately, Yeri is one of those students who will be participating since she isn’t included in the booth. The booth was decided to be something like a living museum for significant Korean figures. Of course this job includes actors, artists, and researchers. Naeun, as the class president, assigned Yeri to be one of the researchers. She is very excited about it because she managed to finish a week worth of research in just two days. Of course she was helped by Joohyun and her parents back in the mainland since they are knowledgeable in this area. Unfortunately, this caused her to be placed in the volleyball team since her job was done quite fast.

She is sulking about it since she will be attending this volleyball training every other day. These students are taking this competition very seriously. I guess they are also baited by merit points.

Because of losing her mood she didn’t do well in that practice. She is frequently scolded by Naeun and also Donghyuck, who is actually a member of the Volleyball club. Another Volleyball club member from their class is Jung Yunho which coincidentally shares the same name as one of the deans. Despite not sharing the same family name, he is the cousin of Jungkook which means he also belongs in the Jeon family.

“You call that a serve?”

If I am in a good mood today, I would still be bad at this.

The location of the practice doesn’t help either. Since the high school, college, and all kinds of school are place near each other, students often see each other. The volleyball court was situated near the beach. Some high school students were passing by so she couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.

“Donghyuck, are you playing volleyball?” A high school student asked.

Oh I remember her. She’s Minjeong.

“Didn’t I tell you to call me oppa?”

“You’re just a few months older.  Mind if I join?” She said as she began to climb the fence separating the school from the beach.

“That’s illegal.”

“Only if you were caught.”

“Now that you’re here, can you teach her volleyball?” He motioned his finger towards Yeri.

You must be kidding.

“Wait, you’re Yeri unnie right? Jaehyun oppa’s fi-“

“Yes I’m Yeri.” She immediately cut off Mingjeong’s words.

“NO fair, you called her unni, but you didn’t call me oppa.”

“Whatever, come on unnie let me teach you.”

Then their training session began. As the days pass by, Yeri is slowly learning about volleyball. First she had to do the ball control, in which the ball must not touch the ground for as long as you can. Then she learned how to serve, but it was a couple of days until she was able to do one perfect serve. Only one though. After that serve, they had a break. For the past few days, she had been socializing well with Minjeong. They occasionally talk about things that they like.

“Do you know the idol, Beomgyu?”

Ah , here we go again. Wait, she’s part of the Kims. Is this bait? I’ll assume first that she’s innocent.

“Yes I knew him.”

“Look how cute his pre-debut pictures were.” She said as she showed her phone to Yeri.

This is bait. When my pictures with Beomgyu come later on I’ll be doomed.

“He looks the same up until now.”

“Right. Look, here's the picture of him with her sister.”

Oh , my life depends on how I will answer this question.

“Her sister looks kinda familiar though. Maybe I crossed paths with her.”

Are you teasing me?

“If you did, then you are really lucky.”

“Her sister looks like she isn’t a Korean. She looked Japanese.”

Excuse me?

“How are you able to differentiate a Japanese from a Korean?”

“You’re a Korean yourself. You should know that. Here, take a look.”

Yeri took a closer look at the picture.

That doesn’t look like me.

She knew exactly what to do during that night.

“Hayi unnie can I also try the regeneration device you have?”

“Of course, why so?”

“I don’t know. Maybe I have hidden memories. I’ll just want to experience it.”

“I know you are hiding something. Fine. Tell your reason when the right time comes.”

She is indeed hiding something. Her diary, the old pictures, and Beomgyu’s request for her not to be active on his fanclub. It is all coming together.

Now I understand why Beomgyu doesn’t want me to be at his fanclub. He doesn’t want me to see the pre-debut pics. I just realized that I haven’t even been shown a single childhood picture of mine. I don’t even know what I look like when I was young. All that I know is that the girl in the picture looks far from my face. This could be plastic surgery though, but I don’t think that’s the case. The fact that Minjeong mentioned that the girl looks familiar means that there is a high possibility that the girl is also elite.

Aeri. There’s a high chance that it’s her. She is close friends with Minjeong. She met Beomgyu that day. She probably has the same mother as Beomgyu, but they broke up.

Wait, she did mention that Jonghyun is her cousin. This means that Beomgyu is also from the Kang family. And also mother.

I don’t know what to call her now.

That means they must be elite. That is probably the reason why they let me adopt that easily. I wonder why they didn’t tell me about this.

Where do I fit in this?

Wait, how about the diary? From what I’ve observed, my memories were all written in the diary. That means they are fake right? The diary was used by someone else, possibly Aeri. Mother probably erased several details about this revealing either Aeri or her father. I guess this explains the cleanly cut pages.

How did I go to them?

What happened before? There are two possibilities regarding the diary. The first one is, I got a memory loss and I was taught that it was my own diary. The second one is, by altering my memories. A three hour mental torture in CIA can convince a person that he is guilty of a crime that he didn’t committed is possible, so this might be also possible.

Where was I from?

If I end up to be someone important, like Yeoreum maybe, then all I can say is what the actual ?

She obviously can’t share this information to her cousins since it is her problem to deal with. Her cousins have nothing to do with their family situation.

She was absorbed by her thoughts that she didn’t know that it was already the Sports Festival.

Her days of training with Minjeong will finally be put to the test. Their first game will be played at nine in the morning. It’s too early, but they need to fit the entire match within the day.

Luckily for her, Donghyuck didn’t choose her to play yet. Of course, she is really happy. Unfortunately that happiness only lasted for the first set of the game since she is going to play for the second set. Before playing, she ate some of her mint candies, which is a placebo effect for her to perform better. After a few minutes of serving, receiving and other s in between, they made it. This is mostly due to Yunho’s powerful blocks and Donghyuck’s accurate spikes.

That was only for the first match though. She is in two minds whether to let her team fail or to work hard and make their team win. I really want to get this over with, and go enjoy the booths and other s. At the same time, I want my team to win. Of course everyone likes extra credits.

Second match was between them and the fourth year of the first section. Among them was Joohyun.

“Hi Yeri. I won’t go easy on you today.”

As much as she wanted to respond, please don’t go easy on me, I want to get this over with, she can’t due to the fact that she will destroy the spirit of her team.

Unfortunately and fortunately they lose. Haechan is no match for their ace player and also his volleyball clubmate, Choi Minho. Yeri had seen him before seated with Joohyun during the orientation. He is Yoojung’s older sister, and is also the heir of a weapon manufacturing company, one of the top families in the organization. Obviously I can’t confront him without a real plan. Better lay low for a while.
