“Do you really not remember what happened all those years ago?”

“What?”

“You didn’t even react when the incident years ago was frequently mentioned in our conversations the days before.”

“Because I don't know what it is. Sure, I know that we and Yeoreum used to be close, but that’s it. I don’t even know what happened.”

He looks straight into her eyes.

“How can I be sure that you aren’t lying to me right now?”

“I promise. I can’t remember a single thing about a remarkable incident that happened years ago.”

“So you can’t even remember Hyunggu? We were together when it happened. The four of us.”

“I’m sorry. I can’t really remember.”

“You’re a hopeless case. I guess they sent you to therapy after that. Unlucky me, my mother didn’t.”

After that Yeeun drove back to her house and left Jaehyun confused.

The next day, the election campaign started. The campaign was rather short actually. It only lasted for three days then the voting day is up. Of course, Yeri voted for Mark.

Mark actually won the election by a small margin. He got around fifty percent of the votes which is a close fight against his opponent, Mina.

The morning after the winner was announced, Mark came to visit Yeri.

“Hey, you want a job?”

“Who wants to do something?”

“Me. Of course I want to do something that’s why I ran for the election.”

“So why are you here?”

“To offer you a job.”

“About?”

“I want to hire you as a Disciplinary Officer for the batch.”

Lol, what?

“Accept this. This may be good for your experience if ever Junmyeon hyung wins.”

“Why me?”

“For experience. And you were also able to stop that fight between Doyeon and Tzuyu during the enrolment. I’m sure you can handle it.”

“That wasn’t intentional. I am only tired of waiting in line during the enrollment.”

“It is still intentional. I know you can do it.”

“Your encouragement doesn’t help actually. It is quite a heavy job. Not only should I be able to stop fights, but I also should be one of those who will discipline the students in cases such as cheating, vandalizing, and even making out in public.”

“Ew. Why did you include the last one?”

“It is a fact of college life. There’s a lot more things that a disciplinary officer has to do other than this.”

“So you are refusing my offer.”

“Yes. I gladly refuse your offer.”

“If that’s the case then why did you even accept Junmyeon hyung’s offer? Isn’t it harder to discipline the whole Isles?”

Come to think of it. Why did I accept his offer in the first place? Pretending to be someone and actually holding a position in the Isles? Why am I doing this? Why are they asking me to do this? Was it because we got second place in that debate competition? Was it because I have a stronger sense of justice than most of the people? Why did they offer billions of won? Why did they let me live here? Why do they want me to pretend to be their child? Why am I here? Why did my parents send me away to pretend as someone? Why did they accept that offer?

I guess this was in order for me to have a better life. My parents agreed that I should live a life of a fake in order for me to experience the luxury of living as a rich person in a capitalist country. Of course it’s not like I don’t want to, but something is wrong. I guess I accepted this offer because I want to live like a rich person, but why did the Kims offer this to me? Why me? And why ask someone to pretend as your dead daughter instead of telling others the truth? Unless I am your dead daughter. That would make sense right? This idea may seem too far-fetched from real life. Plus, I had memories when I was young. It will be impossible to have memories of different places which happened at the same time right?

Who am I kidding? I will probably be deposed when Junmyeon oppa loses or when the four year term ends. This isn’t my life. I only borrowed it from the dead girl. I will return it to her soon.

“I’ll take your silence as a yes.” Mark spoke after Yeri’s five minutes of silence.”

“Fine. I’ll try.”

During the afternoon, Mark asked her to come with him to visit the new office which will be located at a building solely for the student council officers, which also include students from the other grades.

It was an office which Yeri expected to be. There are six cubicles here for individual work. There is also a table which is for group meetings. It had a projector mounted above and a white board in front. There is also a sofa when the officers are tired. There are bookshelves which contain the guidebook for the university. There is also a small restroom and a mini kitchen for breaks. It is a regular office with the most expensive furniture and equipment.

“Oh. The others are still not here. Wait here, I’ll call them.”

Minutes later, they arrived one by one. Yeri expected to be introduced to new people, but the opposite happened.

“Hey Mark. Oh Yeri is here too?” Donghyuck said.

I really do hope that he isn’t part of that organization.

“Hi.” That minimalist greeting came from the princess herself, Chaeyoung.

I am working with her sister, now I’m gonna work with her?

“Hi Yeri. Hi Donghyuck. Hi Chaeyoung.” Mina said.

“How about me?”

“Did you hear that? Whose voice was that?”

I guess she’s still bitter that she lost, but congrats for her improvement with Chaeyoung. I guess they needed to communicate well since we’re all gonna work together.

“You should be glad that I offered you a position to work here.”

Before Mina could reply, someone entered the office.

He’s the last member?

“Park Seonghwa.”

The room was then filled with hellos from the other members.

He is the only one I hadn’t met. I probably saw him, but I can’t remember.

They all started to socialize with each other, except for Seonghwa since he is the silent type. It wasn’t that hard for Yeri actually since he already knew most of them, again except for Seonghwa. Minutes passed and she started to learn who he is. He is actually a cousin of Jimin and Rose. He is also in management like Chaeyoung. She is the one who properly introduced him to everyone. They soon split up into pairs because of several topics.

“I think there is something wrong with my sister.” Mina said.

“Same.”Chaeyoung replied.

At least they are agreeing on something right now, but I can’t say if it is good or not.

Mina and Chaeyoung unusually got along with each other. Maybe only Doyeon and Tzuyu are the ones who are fighting. The rest seems to be in gray area. They probably hated each other because their friend told so.

Mina and Chaeyoung continued to talk for the rest of the day. They are sharing their burden of being the younger sister. Yeri can’t agree or disagree with them actually. She was the older sister months ago, but things changed and now she is the younger sister.

“Don’t you hate it when they pass their job to you?” Chaeyoung asked.

“Of course I really don’t like it. It’s their job, why are they making me do it?”

“You know what we might have been close if Doyeon and Tzuyu weren’t at war.”

“Yeah I agree. We can start now, right?”

“Definitely.”

For the rest of their stay, she can’t seem to talk to the others. She feels out of place since the group started talking in pairs. Mark is talking to Donghyuck while Mina and Chaeyoung are talking to each other. The only person who doesn’t have someone to talk to is Seonghwa.

To Yeri, he looked like an anime character that isn’t fond of talking or socializing. He got long bangs which covered half of his face. He is playing on his phone while using his headphones. Everyone is amazed when he talks. He is the quiet kid in everyone’s classroom. However, like what the memes say, you should always be scared of the quiet ones. She knew this through Chaeyoung and Mark.

The reason why Mark offered a position to him is because of his skills in math. His family, the Parks, owns a huge lending company worldwide. Because of this, he is used to accounting when he is still young. This developed his math skill as well. He is always one of those top students in his class. He can solve difficult problems mentally. That’s why he is the finance officer of their year level.

The job for being the Vice Batch Representative is given to Mina. Mark chose her because he hardly defeated her.  This might be also to make amends to her for beating her in the election. Apart from that, she also has a good sense of judgement and is able to make decisions fast.

Chaeyoung is given the position of External Affairs like her sister. Apart from the fact that she is fluent in four languages other than Korean, he is also very charismatic in meetings. External Affairs jobs include talking to everyone outside of their year level which may include the Governor. She accepted this as a training when she will be old enough to be given foreign-related jobs as a princess.

The Internal Affairs Officer position was given to Lee Donghyuck due to his charms. He has this smooth way of talking which enabled him to communicate with everyone from their year. Apart from that, she also got this nice singing voice which adds to his credentials. His charm is irresistible.

Yeri heard them mention Koeun’s name when they were talking. It would be weird not to ask the why they talked about Koeun right? I am acting as a person who was Koeun’s friend. I guess I should ask them.

“You heard that?” Donghyuck asked.

“Yes, I did hear you say Koeun’s name clearly. What was that about?”

“Oh about that you see, during the opening of classes, Koeun con-.''His mouth was covered by Mark’s hand.

“Don’t mind him. Go back to what you are doing.”

“I’m not even doing something earlier. Thanks to Donghyuck, now I can enter your conversation.”

Mark released his hands from Donghyuck’s mouth.

“Thank God, I can breathe. Hey Yeri, do you want to enter our conversation right?”

“Yes, why?”

“Someone told me that they saw you fighting with Jaehyun during the acquaintance party. So is that true?”

Why are you changing your target suddenly? I thought we were both going to attack Mark?

It’s not a fight actually. It was more of a petty argument.”

“I see. Well back to Mark.”

“Listen here you little piece of .”

“Why should I be afraid of you?”

“Throughout my whole life I haven’t met someone as stupid as you.”

“What do you mean by whole life? As far as I remember you bumped your head somewhere, got amnesia, and your mother found you in the ditch.”

“Lol. I don’t understand. This is probably a joke that only people with low IQ will get.”

“Do you know that it also includes you?”

She did enjoy the rest of her stay. It is fun to watch Mark and Donghyuck bicker. At times, she is targeted by the two of them. She did manage to fight back against them with the mouth of hers. Unfortunately they both can’t defeat Donghyuck with that sassy mouth of his.

They all stayed in the clubroom until six o’clock, and then they went home. Mark made a final announcement before they went home.

“Let’s start planning for the school festival next week.” After that, Yeri went to the parking lot.

BI and Yeri were now on good terms, but it was still awkward. She can survive in the car with him, but she can’t communicate with him properly. It will take some time I guess.

The next morning, she received a text from her Beomgyu that he is on a break. She still kept her old sim card in
