Saeron, why did you do that?

“Your face tells me that you knew the person who was speaking.” Hayi commented.

“I need a break.”

“Go on.”

She began walking towards her house to ponder what the hell was happening.

This must be the reason why that organization didn’t make a move even though they knew about it. They intend to attack in this way using Saeron. We’re ed, right?”

Realizing that BI isn’t in her house, she began calling his number.

“Bring me to the mainland.”

“For what reason?”

“To meet my dear friend.”

“Let me ask your brother first if this is alright.”

I know he won’t give me permission.

“Wait. I’ll call him personally.”

She knows what she has to do in order to convince him. Ironically, she has to do dirty tactics despite being a disciplinary officer herself. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

“Why are you calling?”

“I need to go to the mainland today.”

“You must have seen that video clip already. I advise you not to investigate this thing by yourself. We already hired some private investigators to do this.”

“I have a lead. I know that person speaking.”

“Then tell me. Who is it?”

“A friend of mine back in the mainland. Kim Saeron.”

“So you are going there by yourself to confront her?”

“Of course. This is an easy way to know the truth.”

“And what if she is armed or something.”

“I trust that she isn’t. She is my friend.”

“A friend who betrayed you. Will you still trust her?”

Yeri is speechless. She then decided not to use her initial plan of blackmailing anymore. She has an ace up her sleeves.

“If you are worried about me, then come with me. It’s Sunday. I’m sure you're at your house today. Unless you have plans with Joohyun unnie.”

“That’s stupid.”

“Of course not. I know you like her.”

“No, not that part.”

“Which part?”

“If the two of us would go there and let’s assume that she’s armed, that means the number of casualties would be higher. It wouldn’t be great if the two of us would be killed.”

“I know. That’s why I’m going there by myself. There’s nothing to lose if she’s armed. I’m only an actress here right? I’m not your real sister so there’s nothing to lose.”

“Fine. Take BI with you. In the meantime, I’ll call someone for the background info of Kim Saeron.”

“K bye.”

It turns out he doesn’t really care at all except for the reputation of this family.

It was 10 in the morning when they arrived at the university dorm of Saeron.

“No, Saeron isn’t here. She moved out about two weeks ago. She also transferred to another school, but I don’t know what it is.” The guard said.

What the hell?

“Do you have any idea where she might be?”

“I think her mother fetched her. She might be with her.”

Next stop was Saeron’s apartment. Yeri had visited this place a couple of times, but she never got to see the inside of it.

The building still looks the same. Why am I talking as if I left years ago? Wait, I still don’t know their apartment number.

“No. That teacher moved out around two weeks ago?”

“Did she tell you where they will be?”

“Nope.”

Yeri decided to go to the university where Saeron’s mother teaches.

“I’m sorry you’re not allowed to enter unless you’re a student or a staff here or a guest with a scheduled visit.”

“This will be quick.”

“You have to schedule an appointment. Who are you looking for by the way?”

. I only recognize the face of her mom, but I don’t know her name throughout these years. Saeron only addresses her as mom, not using her real name. Now I’m stuck.

The investigation is a dead end. Of course she just can’t request to check the security cameras of the neighbouring areas to find where Saeron and her mom currently reside. Resigned to her fate, she ate lunch with BI at a nearby mall.

That’s when she saw Mark in the store opposite their restaurant.

What a good day this is.

“Oh you’re here? What are you doing here?”

“I’m just here for personal matters. How about you?”

Good thing he didn’t notice that BI is with me or else he would be suspicious.

“Same with you. I’m here for personal matters.”

“Are you going to buy your friend a gift?”

“Yeah. Why do you ask?”

“I figured it out since you are in a men’s clothing store. Anyway, whose birthday was it?”

“You don’t know him actually. Jaehyun and the rest also don’t know about him. Anyway, he is from the mainland. We just met somewhere. That’s it.”

“I see so that’s where you've been since yesterday.”

“Yeah. Gotta go. Bye.”

Wait, I forgot to ask him.

“Wait.”

“What is it?”

“Where have you been during the acquaintance party by the way?”

“Oh I was with my friends. We went out since it was too crowded inside.”

His body language tells that he is telling the truth. That leaves us Seonghwa and his friends.

“Oh I see.”

“Why did you ask?”

“Oh someone was finding you.”

“Who?”

“Junmyeon oppa. I don’t know the reason why he is looking for you.”

I know Junmyeon oppa can make u an excuse for this.

“I’ll ask him later. Bye.”

“Bye.”

There was something that caught Yeri’s attention. While talking with him earlier, she saw something inside his bag.

Why does he have a prison visitation pass?

As soon as she went back to the isles, she immediately started studying. I cannot be distracted by the all this s going on. Actually, she was.

Who the hell is he going to visit in the prison?

She immediately went to Hayi’s house.

“Mark went to visit someone in the prison?”

“You don’t know about this? I thought you were siblings?”

“Not by blood. He’s adopted just around six years ago, so we weren’t that close. Anyway, do you know who he visited?”

“No. I don’t. But I do remember what prison it is.”

“Let’s just put that thing aside. We don’t need to investigate him since he isn’t related to that organization. Study for your exams for now.”

“Wait, Mark is adopted right? Which family is he from?”

“I don’t know actually. My dad came across him on the mainland, the same day of the kidnapping incident.”

“This is more of a reason to investigate him.”

“He doesn’t remember where he is from. When they found him, he got blood oozing from his head. CT scans also show that his head is severely affected from this. I think he was smashed in his head or something.”

“And nobody looked for him?”

“Yeah. I remember that we waited for a couple of weeks for someone to pick him up or to report a missing person case, but nobody did. In the end they adopted him.”

“I see. Didn’t you investigate further on where he was before he was found?”

“He was kicked out of the car, a moving one. That car turned out to be stolen, so they can’t pinpoint who used it. The police can’t figure out where or when Mark entered the car, and the man driving it wasn’t seen to get out of the car. So this is a dead end.”

“Can’t he remember anything about this?”

“He has retrograde amnesia. He is unable to recall memories before that happened since a part of his brain was severely damaged by an impact of an object.”

“That’s unfortunate.”

“Wait, I think I recall something.”

“What is it?”

“There was a time when my dad was asking what they are going to name him. He gave Mark a list of names for him to choose, and he chose Minhyung.”

“Minhyung is his real name?”

“He rarely used it though. After mom learned about his adoption, she got so angry. My parents had a break, and dad went to Canada bringing Mark along. That’s where he got his English name. He liked it so much that he wanted to be called Mark by the time they went back here.”

“I see. Anyway, I think we should keep an eye on him.”

“Are you considering the possibility that he faked his amnesia?”

“I guess so.”

“Okay. I guess we need to do this for security.”

Yeri then went back to study after that. During the evening, she is instructed by his brother on how to handle the gossip of the people they will receive, and how to properly respond to it.

“Repeat after me.”

“Okay.”

“No, I don’t know who that person is. It might be a scheme to throw our family off because of the upcoming election.”

“No, I don’t know who that person is. It might be a scheme to throw our family off because of the upcoming election.”

“Good girl.”

Why does Joohyun unnie like this guy?

The next week is full of exams and it was called by the students as hell week. Luckily for her, she is gifted in written exams; the problem is the practical exams. In their English class, they have to perform a twenty minute skit in full English. She can understand English, but she doesn’t know how to pronounce it well. At least, I’m grouped with Donghyuck and Mark.

Exam results were up in the following week. She ranked eighth in their whole batch. The first place belongs to Mina. Mark belongs in second place and Chaeyoung in the next. Surprisingly, Eunbi and Yeeun ended up tied for tenth place. The rest are nowhere to be found since only the top ten are announced.

“Finally I’m free.” Donghyuck  said.

“At least we have a break. Only for a week though.” Yeri responded

“Don’t get too distracted by it. We need to work for the incoming International Festival.” Mark commented.

“The festival is still in June.” Donghyuck said in an annoyed tone.

“June is already next month.”

“That’s the point. It is already June next month.”

The two go on bickering about it which leaves Yeri confused. What’s the International Festival by the way?

When she went home, she then asked her brother if he knew about it.

“Right, you don’t know about it. Anyway, it is when the nations which have their own Elite Isles come together annually to commemorate the founding of the Isles. Yeah it is a big event since the royal families of other nations will also come. The location changes every year and this year it will happen here. So a huge amount of preparation must be done.”

“Now I’m pressured.”

“Of course you must be pressured. You will be serving royalties after all. Wait, I almost forgot. I will be officially announced as a governor candidate after
