"You can't be serious!" Minjeong yells to announce her presence inside the living room where her parents are relaxing in the comfort of the fireplace to ease the chilly breeze of Italy's autumn afternoon.

"What's with the shouting, Minjeong?" Her mom answers calmly despite seeing her in such a furious state which made Minjeong more upset than she already was.

Minjeong raises her left hand that was clutching her father's phone. "Early? I am in no way near early because why am I just finding out that I am engaged?!" She exclaims at her parents.

Her mother stands up and places her tea cup on the mini table in the center of the living room before straightening her skirt. "I don't understand your reaction really. You already know this ever since you learned how to walk. And it's almost time, Minjeong. You're of age and is already on your last year of college starting next month. I don't see the problem here." She says like it's the most normal thing in the world.

For the first time in her life she's raising her voice at her parents, specially her father. For the first time in her life the calm and collected Minjeong have been thrown inside the drawer and is currently locked to give way for a far more different and vocal Minjeong. "You don't see? You both could have given me a heads up. But no. I have to find it all out on a message that wasn't even for me. Ridiculous." Minjeong answers after putting her father's phone on the table where earlier she accidentally read a message which reaffirms her engagement in courtesy of her parents.

Her mother sighs loudly and walks slowly towards her taking her own sweet time. "Minjeong can you calm down for a bit. It's not like you're getting married tommorow."

"Calm down? Are you serious mom?" Minjeong tried to help it but her body seems to have a life of its own when her eyes shot up and immediately rolled as she heard her mother's words.

But it seems like her mother have mastered the art of annoying her that every breath that she takes just irritates the hell out of Minjeong. It's a wonder how she could bear to be in the same room or space as her creator.

"I've said it before and I'm going to say it again, you already know that this time will come so I really really don't get it why you're so upset right now." Her mother answers much slowly this time while enunciating each word for emphasis like she was talking to an eight year old Minjeong.

"You ar—" But before Minjeong could even finish her sentence, her mother ask her a question that even she herself wasn't sure what to answer.

"Are you dating someone, Minjeong?" Her mother blurts out and the sudden pause in Minjeong's breathing told her that she have struck a chord.

It took Minjeong a few more seconds, a few more blinks for her mother's words to register in her system.

"What do you mean?" She finally answers in the normal voice that she uses daily. And this reaction alone tells her mother that she was beginning to lose her hold in the argument. 

"You're all so worked up over something that you know is bound to happen that I can't help but come to the conclusion that you're already seeing someone." Her mother says innocently but Minjeong knows that there's more meaning behind those naive eyes and playful tone of her mother's voice. 

Because one thing is for sure, her mother is surely isn't clueless on what's happening in her life. And the thought alone is already bringing unexplainable fear in her core.

"Is that right, Minjeong?" Her father finally speaks up after removing his reading glasses and putting down his paper. He was silent all this time but decided to be vocal when the topic of dating arises which in no way help Minjeong's case.

The fire that was in her after seeing that certain message about her engagement earlier have been put out and it can be felt inside the room. The sudden silence of speaks more volume than her words but she can't help it. She can't answer something she isn't sure of. She doesn't want to rush just for the pleasure of answering back.

In another word, she have lost the fight she have started. She never have guessed that her mother would pull of the dating card. She have been so careful. So silent about it so no suspicion in her household would arise. She kept her performance in the company, she didn't slack, not even once. But somehow her mother still seems to know everything.

"Who is he? Come on, tell us. We might consider adjusting our previous agreement if you have someone more favorable than our current setup." Her mother asks again to further pressure M
