Stay With Me

It was Christmas Eve.

Snowflakes were falling outside her window as they piled up with the white snow that was already in her front yard. She could hear the shuffling of footsteps downstairs, and the chattering of her mother and Namjoon as sound travelled upwards.

She turned to her left and heard soft snores coming out from her lover as he slept with his mouth open, one hand laying loosely on her waist. Moving closer to him, she recalled the events of last night as he asked with puppy eyes whether he could sleep in her room.

They had done sleepovers before as she had sneaked Jungkook in once or twice into the Ravenclaw’s girl dorms when Mina had snuck out and slept over in the Slytherin’s dorms with Jimin instead. That was when Jungkook realised that he could sleep better when Jihyun was beside him.

She could barely resist, and honestly, she liked that idea too. Being close to him after their ‘talk’ felt weird at first, but she soon warmed up to his comforting hugs and kisses as she snuggled close in his embrace - falling asleep to his soothing singing voice.

Tracing his face from his eyebrows to his lips, she wondered how she had gotten so lucky to be with a kind and understanding boy like Jungkook.

“Seems like someone really likes my face.” Jungkook opened his eyes slowly as his lips twitched into a smile, “You were awake!” Jihyun wagged a finger as she backed away from him before he pulled her back into his arms, hugging her tightly as if she was his bolster.

“Mmhm, five more minutes.” He murmured as he rested his chin on top of her head, dozing off to sleep.

Jihyun was about to fall back to sleep as well, before the door slammed open and there stood Jin in his navy blue bear pajamas, shrieking loudly when he saw the two cuddled together on the bed.

“Yah, Jeon Jungkook! Get away from my sister!” He shouted as he threw a pillow towards him. Jihyun jumped out of bed but the boy remained unfazed as he missed the pillow narrowly, “Morning Hyung.”

“I should have suspected something was amidst when you didn’t come back last night, I-”

“Nothing happened last night, Jin.” Jihyun rolled her eyes before calming him down. “All we did was sleep.”

It took a moment for Jin to register that the couple was still fully clothed, and rationalized that they probably were not lying since they wouldn’t have time to prepare for his surprise attack.

Nevertheless, his protective brother instincts appeared as he narrowed his eyes towards the two before pointing his fingers at Jungkook, “Just because you’re my favourite doesn’t mean I’m letting you off.”

“Wash up, breakfast’s ready.” Jin simply said before skipping out of the room, and Jihyun couldn’t help but chuckle at her brother’s quick mood swings.

“Merry Christmas, love.” Jungkook whispered into her ears as he engulfed her in a back hug. Her heart skipped a beat when she heard the nickname, and she beamed as she turned around to face him.

“Merry Christmas, Koo.” She said as she landed a kiss on his nose.

“Now go get ready, your breath stinks.” She teased as he tickled her, “Yah!”

--
They had some down time after breakfast, and Jihyun had asked Jungkook to come outside after he was done. After bundling up in his winter wear, he trudged outside to see Jihyun sitting on a bench in the front yard.

She hadn’t seemed to notice him as she continued admiring the falling snowflakes that were dipping and disappearing into the grass.

“It’s the first snow.” Jungkook said as he settled down beside her. Turning around in surprise, her hands found her way to his arms as she snuggled close.

“It is.” Jihyun said before continuing, “Do you know what the first snow means?” Jungkook merely shook his head while waiting for her answer.

“Legend says that when you witness the first snowfall with someone you like, true love will blossom between the both of you, and the love will last for a long time. That’s why so many couples promise to meet each other on the first snowfall so that their love would be eternal.” Jihyun said blissfully, unaware of Jungkook’s smile.

“I wanted to see the first snow with you.” Jihyun gave a shy smile and Jungkook couldn’t help but pull her closer.

The thought of being together with Jihyun for a long time was definitely something he wanted.

“Promise me that our love is going to last till eternity?” Jungkook asked with round eyes while Jihyun broke into a laugh, “What a romantic.” But she hooked her pinkies with his nevertheless.

“We will always be together, I promise.”

--
Everyone was excited to open the presents, but Mrs. Kim stood with her hands wide open and a wand in her arms while pointing at the four teenagers warily, “Christmas day is tomorrow. You will have to wait for the rest of the boys to come over before you open them.”

There was an audible groan in the room when they registered the news, but Mr Kim soon distracted them with a day out to Central London to soak in the Christmas atmosphere.

Everyone was psyched about the idea as they rushed to put on their warm coats and grabbed their belongings.

It was the time of the year where the streets were decorated with the Christmas lights which would soon be lit up later in the night, and Jihyun couldn’t wait. She gazed at the shop windows which had been decorated with reindeers and santa - the iconic Christmas decorations which none could miss.

Right in the middle of Oxford Street in Central London stood the tallest Christmas tree she had ever seen, and she made a mental note to come back here later in the night to enjoy the view.

“We have till dinner to do any last minute Christmas shopping, and you kids are free to enjoy! We will see you back here at this spot around 7pm.” Mr. Kim said with a smile as the four teenagers nodded excitedly.

“Enjoy your date, mom and dad.” Namjoon said as he pulled them in for a hug while the other three did the same.

They could see the giddy look of joy and a small blush forming on Mrs. Kim’s face - Christmas Eve was one of her favourite days because it was the first time that Mr. Kim had asked her out, and they always commemorated it by spending it together on a full day date. Mr. Kim gave a wide smile before holding his wife’s hands in his - something that Jungkook didn’t miss.

He wished his parents had a loving relationship like Mr. and Mrs. Kim as well.

“Run along, you kids.” Mr. Kim said as the couple bade them goodbye and walked towards the other direction.

“They still act like two teenagers crazy in love after all these years.” Namjoon shook his head, albeit still wearing a large grin on his face as he talked about his parents.

“I know, right? They are so disgustingly in love.” Jihyun knew that Jin talked about it as if it was a joke, but she didn’t miss th
