Chapter 2
Damned LoveTaehee had given me a moment to myself before I joined the party. I was doing everything I could to stall and then there was a knock on my door; it was Daniel with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. My Daniel, my angel, my love. It was such a sweet gesture, but all it reminded me of was the gift store; where JR worked, where I had bought flowers before, where he had befriended me. I shuddered at the thought and Daniel was immediately by my side, pulling me into his embrace. No one had found JR for weeks. That meant he was still out there, planning and waiting for the next opportunity to strike. “I won’t let anything happen to you”, Daniel promised, but that didn’t make me feel better. Because that meant something would happen to him.

Fortunately, there were just a few relatives and my best friends. No sight of any angels, except Guanlin; although why would angels have been at my party. Still, it didn’t mean they weren’t out there; keeping watch. Seongwoo still couldn’t explain why he couldn’t sense me whenever I was with Daniel, but he did say that it had given him a sense of relief knowing Daniel was by my side. If only they had said these things to each other!
I managed to fake a smile through most of the party, but they were too distracted by my boyfriend to pay much attention to me. Daniel had actually become pretty good at the whole human interaction thing, even going so far as to making up his own earthly background stories. I knew it was hard on him as well, having to put on a happy face, while he was worried about Woojin. I appreciated him so much more for being there for me, even though he had his own issues to deal with. Still, the sooner I could get the both of us away from this party, the better.
I joined Ash and Lala, who were deep in conversation with some of Jihoon’s nephews and nieces. They both gave me sympathetic looks, which made me remember that they knew exactly what I was going through. Sometimes it was easy to forget that they now knew everything. I had finally confessed all the secrets that I had been keeping from them for the past few months. It was the day after the battle against Jinyoung. They had burst into Daniel’s apartment.
