An end to it.

Forever Young

(A/N- I actually wrote chapter 9 and 10 ahead of time but didn't have time to proof read until now so enjoy! 😊)

There was only 1 day left till the championships. No one had to be as nervous as Bobby, considering he also hurt his ankle.

~~~~
Bobby got up due to loud knockings on his door.
"Who the hell could it be?" He said annoyed as he walked towards the door to open it. He rubbed his eyes and saw that it was his coach.
"Oh.. morning, coach." Bobby bowed. Coach Jung was aware of the wounds on his face. It bothered him a bit but he knew Bobby was the type of kid to get into trouble.
"Where were you yesterday?" He made his way into Bobby's man cave and skimmed the living room.
"Coach? How exactly did you find out about this place?" Bobby asked.
"The boys told me. Nice place you got here." Coach Jung complimented. He envy how big and well structured Bobby's house was compared to his. It must be nice to have rich parents Coach Jung thought.
"Thanks." Bobby said in embarrassment.
"Is this why you weren't at practice?" Coach Jung pointed towards his face.
"you were causing trouble?" He added.
"I'm sorry coach something important came up." Bobby poured a cup of water and handed it to him.
"Let me know before hand next time. We have championships so there's no missing practice." Coach Jung Explained and took a sip of the water.
"I'm tired of hearing of that." Bobby admitted.
"Hearing what?"
"People telling me that I better get my head straight and practice my off for this dumb championship. Maybe I-" Bobby stopped himself and let out a heavy sigh.
"We don't have to win, of course. I just want you to do your best and have fun so don't stress so much about this. Besides you have a bright future ahead of you, especially with the way you play there's a ton of people who want to draft you." Coach Jung smiled and patted Bobby's shoulder. He sat the cup down and walked towards the door, taking his leave.
Feeling angry Bobby slammed his cup on the counter Breaking it. Pieces of glass flew everywhere in the kitchen. Some pieces were stuck in his hand causing it to bleed rapidly. Even though blood was oozing out of his hand he however, felt no pain. His mind was empty, as if his soul has left his body and wandered somewhere far away. The vibration of his phone snapped him back into reality. Realizing that his hand was bleeding Bobby quickly lifted his hands off from the broken cup and backed away from the counter. He looked at his surroundings and saw glass everywhere. Slowly he lifted his hand up and stared at the blood that made its trail down his hands and onto the floor. This feeling.. It somehow made him feel relieved.
Jennie's POV
Thoughts of Hanbin and Nayeon consumed me. The part where she hugged him kept replying in my head over, and over, again.. I smacked my head trying to get rid of these stupid thoughts. It shouldn't matter anyway.. but it did.
"Jennie...?" Jisoo gave me a worried yet confused look.
"Yeah?" I forced a smile.
"Is everything okay? You're smacking your head pretty hard." She chuckled
"Do You ever have weird thoughts of somebody?" I asked.
"Are we having that talk?...." Her eyes widened.
"What? No!!" I quickly denied. My face grew red from that nasty mind of hers.
"Okay good! Well, yeah I sometimes think of someone and grow angry at how stupid they act. Especially how selfless they are. I don't know I get worried I guess..?" She sighed. I knew she was referring to someone.
"Bobby?" I raised a brow.
"Yeah- W-what?!..." Jisoo defended.
"Come on, we both know how much you care about him." I playfully jabbed my elbow into her gut.
"I-it's Just.. crazy how I've been thinking about him lately. I want to be there for him you know? He's going through a lot and I'm worried he'll do something." Jisoo explained. I could tell she was hurt by the way her eyes drooped lower.
"Then why fight what you feel?" I asked. She looked up at me with her eyes filled with tears. Suddenly she wrapped her arms around me and rested her head on my shoulder. I brought my arms up patting her back for comfort.
"I... I don't want to hurt Bobby. He's already in enough pain. I can't stand to hurt him even more...." Jisoo said in between her sobs.
"What do you mean?..." I asked. I'm her best friend yet I don't even know what's going on?.. wow what kind of friend am I? She must've been bottling something inside for her to burst out like this. Since it was rare to see her cry.
"Jennie what I'm going to tell you right now, you have to promise me that you will never tell anyone." She pulled away from the hug and wiped her tears.
"I promise." I smiled reassuringly. She took a couple of deep breaths for explaining things. Oh god... it something serious..
"Bobby gets abused by his dad and I know how much it hurts him not physically, but mentally. I'm afraid that if I ever fall too hard for him I'll end up pushing him to the edge.. who knows what will happen?!" She let out a quiet sob. I couldn't make sense of what she had just told me. Who would of thought Bobby was going through such a thing? I mean everyone's going through something but I never expected this from him... he always smiled brightly and joked around. He was the mood maker in our group.
"I don't think you'll hurt him by liking him. Jisoo, I think you're hurting him by pushing him away and you're hurting yourself for pretending like the feelings aren't there. I know you care about him but he cares about you, just as much as you do." I explained.
"So what should I do?.." She asked. I heard a desperate cry for help in her voice. It really affected me to see her like this.. it was only my 3rd time seeing Jisoo cry like this throughout our friendship.
"Stay by his side. He needs you." I smiled warmly at her. She nodded her head and returned the smile.
Hanbin's POV
"Kim Hanbin! Do you really think you'll get your way?" The kid smirked.
I woke up from the nightmare, dripping in sweat. I got up and hurried towards the bathroom. My reflection in the mirror wasn't too good. My face was as pale as a ghost and my lips were a bit chapped. My throat was dry from dehydration. I had bags under my eyes. Overall, I just looked like complete crap. I the shower and waited for a couple of minutes for it to turn hot. The room was slowly heating up and the steam was overtaking the room by now. I stepped into the shower and let the water fall on my head and down to my toes. It felt nice and relaxing. It somewhat relieved me. I could feel my headache slowly fading.
~~~~

After 20 minutes I got out of the shower and hung the towel up. My hair was damp and messy but it didnt bother me. I flopped on my bed staring blankly at the ceiling.

"Maybe I'm just seeing things?.." I didn't want to believe what I saw on Jennie's envelope. But it was hard to tear away from it.

~~~~~~
I stuck the ear pods into my ear and walked out of my dorm. I needed time to just relax and clear my head. As I was walking I saw Jennie walking back from the cafe.
"Jennie!" I shouted to get her attention.
"Oh hey.." She said uncomfortably which wasn't like her.
"Are you busy?"
"Yeah I have things.. to do." She replied. I wished she would've lied to me and said no. I kind of wanted to walk with her but could tell she wasn't really in the mood.
"Alright, well let me walk you back." I smiled at her.
"No! It's fine. I can walk by myself. She explained and turned her head away from me.
"Is something wrong?" I asked. I was worried. This isn't like her?.. did I perhaps do something?
"Everything's fine." She faked a smile. "But I really have to go." She added.
"Alright.. I'll see you later than?"
"Yeah." I watched as she was slowly disappearing from my sight. I couldn't help but think I had something to do with the way she was acting...
End of POV.
Time lapses- DAY OF THE GAME
Bobby sat on the bench while watching his fellow team mates run back and forth down the court. Each minute made him anxious. His ankle was still in pain and his hand was wrapped up. No matter what Hanbin and Jisoo tried to do to make him rest he didn't listen.
"Alright Bobby! Get in there!" Coach Jung shouted.
"Coach! I don't think he could play!" Yunhyeong said, worrying about his injury.
"Can you play?" The Coach looked at him dead in the eye. Bobby nodded his head receiving a signal to proceed by his coach. Jisoo sat up at the bleacher next to Jennie holding up a big sign that said
"Go Bobby!" With some basketball designs on it. Bobby smiled after seeing how happily she was cheering.
"Aww! So sweet of you to come support the guy you like." Jennie teased.
"Oh shut up." Jisoo replied shyly. Hanbin was two bleachers up from them. He stared at Jennie wondering why she stopped smiling at him like that. He knew he was being over dramatic because it's only been 2 days since they had a full on conversation. But it annoyed him that she would push things to the side and say she was busy. He saw Jennie get up from the bleachers and used the chance to talk to her.
~~~~

"Two corn dogs please." Jennie ordered. She reached into her bag and pulled out some money to pay.

"Thank you." She said and continued walking back.

"Jennie." Hanbin said in a low tone.

"Yeah?" Her voice a little higher than usual.

"Heads!!" The crowd shouted. Hanbin pulled Onto Jennie's arm. She clashed into  his chest dropping the corn dogs. Her heart began pounding. Quickly she pulled away from him and swallowed her thick saliva.

"Thanks." She said and continued to walk away.

~~~~~
"pass it!" Bobby shouted as he tried his best to run for the ball. Yunhyeong passed the ball to Bobby, only for the ball to go out of bounds. He couldn't run any faster due to the pressure he applied on his ankle. From the crowd his dad glared at him.
"You alright?" Yunhyeong ran by.
"I'm good!" Bobby said.
Bobby tried blocking his opponents shot but failed after he was shoulder checked onto the ground.
"Charging! That was a charge!" Bobby shouted. The ref ignored him which pissed him off.
"That was a foul!" Jisoo shouted from the crowd. "You bastard! That was a foul!" She cursed at the opponent and the ref.
"Calm down!l Jennie begged as she tugged on Jisoo's arm.
At this point, Bobby was practically dragging his injured ankle. He couldn't keep up with everybody else while running back and forth on the court. He grew tired, easily.
 "And that's the game!" The announcer shouted. The other school cheered and roared in excitement while Bobby dropped to the ground. He sat there panting heavily. Realizing that he had lost, once again... it was like high school all over again when Bobby was fouled. It seemed that nothing was going right in his life. He looked through the crowd. Only to find that his father was gone.
"Get up." Hanbin said offering him a hand. Bobby looked up and accepted the offer. Carefully, Hanbin helped Bobby to the locker room.
~~~~~

Bobby's dad was in the locker room arms crossed.

"Stay here." Bobby said. Hanbin nodded his head and waited outside of the locker room.

"Pack your bags tomorrow." Bobby's dad demanded.

"Why?" Bobby asked. His dad grabbed him by the collar and pushed him on the locker. Punching him across the face a couple of times.

"Why? Did you see the way you were playing out there?!? Yet, you ask why?!" He shouted. Bobby couldn't speak as he was spitting blood out from his mouth.

"You're going on that ship. And you're going to think about what you cost me." His dad scolded. Bobby closed his eyes. Just before he could land another punch. Hanbin kicked him away from Bobby.

"What the hell do you think you're doing!?" Hanbin shouted at the top of his lungs. He looked at how petrified Bobby was. His hands and bottom lip trembled in unison.

Bobby's dad got up from the ground and dusted himself off. "How dare you!" He shouted and attempted to throw a bunch at Hanbin but missed. Coach Jung entered the locker room and tackled Bobby's dad onto the ground. Landing a few punches across his face before being kicked off.

Bobby sprinted out the room leaving everyone dumbfounded.

"Bastard!!" His dad shouted. Coach Jung signaled Hanbin to chase after him and that he'd take care of his dad.

"What kind of father beats his son black and blue?!" Coach Jung shouted as he shoved his dad into the locker.

"Mind your damn business! Your jobless scum." Bobby's dad punched him across the face.

Coach Jung couldn't hold back anymore. He began throwing punches and tackling him into the ground. He didn't care if he was going to get fired, thrown in jail, or even sue. What mattered to him the most right now was Bobby's safety and there was no way he'd let him near his dad.

~~~~~
"Bobby!" Hanbin shouted. He checked every corner but Bobby was no where to be found.
"Where is he?!" Jisoo said while trying to catch her breath.
"I-I don't know." Hanbin replied.
"Hanbin! This isn't time for any jokes."
"I'm not joking around! I don't know where he went!" Hanbin shouted in frustration. Jisoo couldn't help but shed tears for Bobby. She was frightened. Where could he be?!
"He can't be too far, especially with his ankle." Jennie explained.
"Right so let's split up." Jisoo added.
"I'm going left." Hanbin said.
"Right." Jennie added.
"Alright I'll go straight. Call each other if you guys see him!" Jisoo shouted. She quickly ran off trying to find him.
~~~~~~

Jisoo walked near the cafe. She heard quiet sobs and saw Bobby in the corner all curled up. Slowly, she approached him and got on his level. There was nothing more sad than seeing him like this..

"Bobby..." Jisoo said lightly. "It's fine I'm right here, it's me Jisoo." She added. He slowly raised his head up. Blood ran down his lips and his almost healed up wound reopened again. "Oh my god...." she said bitting her lips. He didn't say anything, instead stare at her. His eyes begging for help. Jisoo wrapped her arms around his neck, her head resting on his shoulder.

"I-I'm scared..." Bobby whispered.

"Don't be. I promise I'll be by your side through anything.." Jisoo comforted. They stayed in that position. Jisoo didn't mind at all. In fact her heart skipped a beat but it was also tarnished by the view of Bobby. She didn't want to be selfish and keep him by her side but she cared way too much to let him slip away.

~~~~~
Hanbin and Jennie met at the spot where they had all plan to go find Bobby.
"Any sign?" Jennie asked. Hanbin shook his head, out of breath.
"I'll call Jisoo." She explained. Jennie grew frustrated as the call went straight to voicemail twice. She was trying so hard to avoid Hanbin but luck was not on her side today.
She saw Hanbin ruffle his hair. He was frustrated and about to explode but he didn't want Jennie to see that side of him. It was even more awkward since she began talking to him less. She couldn't help but feel bad. She was only doing this because she didn't want to hurt herself.
"Why are you doing this?" Hanbin said. He stared right into Jennie's eyes begging for an answer.
"Doing what?" She replied cluelessly.
"That! Why are you acting this way? Did I do something?!" Hanbin finally exploded. The frustration he bottled in, escaped.
"You didn't do anything and I've been busy." Jennie painted a fake smile.
"Don't use that excuse on me..." Hanbin argued.
"It's not an excuse!" Jennie raised her voice. Hanbin couldn't help but stare at her pink plump lips.
"You're too busy to even have a simple conversation with me? Not even a hello?" Hanbin asked. He was all kinds of confused.
Before Jennie could reply back she received a phone call from Jisoo.
"Where are you?" Jennie asked.
"We're around the corner." Jisoo explained. Jennie turned to see Jisoo on the phone struggling to support Bobby. Hanbin rushed towards them.
"The hideout is the only place we could go to, his dad would probably bust down our dorm." Hanbin explained. Jisoo nodded her head and followed Hanbin to the car. Jennie walked behind them. Kicking tiny rocks as she thought about what happened earlier.
~~~~~

Jisoo and Bobby settled down in the living room.

"Are you hungry?" She asked. Bobby shook his head no but Jisoo wasn't going to take that for an answer.

"Can you two cook up a little something? I'm going to help Bobby." Jisoo explained.

Jennie nodded her head in agreement and left to the kitchen.

"Are you sure you don't need help?" Hanbin asked trying to avoid being alone with Jennie.

"Yeah thank you though." Jisoo replied. Hanbin let out a sigh before making his way to the kitchen.

~~~~~~
Jennie looked around. She wasn't sure what to make but thankfully Hanbin walked in digging through the pantry.
"Ramen with some green onions and meat on the side." Hanbin explained. He didn't dare to look her in the eyes. Jennie filled the pot up with water and started the stove. Letting it sit until it was boiling up. Hanbin opened the ramen wrapping and took the noodles out, carefully placing them into the boiled water, One by one. He then opened the seasoning packets and added them into it.
Jennie on the other hand was chopping up some green onions. She stole glances here and there to make sure Hanbin was doing okay. As she took another glance the edge of the knife connected with her finger, cutting it open.
"Ow!" Jennie said and quickly began onto the wounded finger.
"What happen?!" Hanbin asked. He saw the little trail of blood on her finger and took off into the living room.
Hanbin hurried back with the first aid kit in his hands. "Let me see your finger." He demanded. Jennie slowly moved her finger away from her and placed it out for him to see. He wiped the blood off with a disinfect wipe and lightly blew on it. Jennie couldn't help but stare at how handsome he was. His eyebrows were narrowed down into a serious expression. The smile She enjoyed looking at was drawn into a straight line. She gazed at his perfect lips that had a light touch of pink.
"Be more careful next time." He said while covering the cut with a band aid. She felt her body warming up quickly. It felt stuffy and Jennie no longer wanted to be around him. Her heart could explode at this point...
"It's hot so I'll head outside." Jennie excused herself.
~~~~~~

Hanbin walked to the backyard and saw Jennie sitting by the pool. Her feet was in the water making it look like some movie. He had to put a stop to this, there's no way he's way he was going to let this continue.

"Are you gonna eat?" Hanbin asked. Jennie quickly got up from the pool and walked passed him. Hanbin grabbed her arm pulling her toward him. They were facing each other, something Jennie's been trying avoid. She swallowed her saliva thickly. It was was hard to avoid his brown orbs without Her heart skipping a beat.

"Stop doing this to me." Hanbin's grip grew tighter. "You keep avoiding me and it's driving me insane!" He added, voice cracking at the end.

"I don't want to get hurt..." Jennie admitted. She looked away not wanting him to see the tears in her eyes. Hanbin cupped her chin, bringing her face back to his.

"I would never hurt you." Hanbin said softly.

"Please let me go.." Jennie begged.

"You're selfish.. No. No... I can't let you go. I can't keep this up any longer! I'm tired of not being able to talk to you and laugh. You're driving me crazy, all I think about is you. I kept wondering what I did wrong but nothing could come to mind."

Jennie was taken aback by his sudden confession.

"Hanbin-"

"I like you Jennie.." Hanbin finally let out. The weight on his chest disappeared making him feel at ease. Jennie began blushing at his words. No way...?! Does he really feel the same? She couldn't help but think this was all a Dream. Hanbin knew what Jennie's answer was since she kept quiet. He let go of her arm and a gloomy expression took over his face. He didn't have the guts to look at her anymore.. Jennie leaned in closer to him and cupped his chin. She pecked his lips surprising him. Hanbin's eyes widen at her actions. Jennie smiled shyly "I like you too." She replied. The words that Hanbin wanted to hear really sent him off. With that, he used it as a ticket to proceed the kiss. His hands caressed her face as he leaned in slowly. Closing the distance between them. Their lips connected once again into a soft kiss. Jennie snaps back into reality and processes what was going on and kissed him back. Their lips were in sync, moving perfectly, complimenting each other.
