a/n Jungkook and Rose have the same hair color irl now :3.

Jungkook POV

Jungkook kind of felt bad for Namjoon, but not really; he was much too excited and anxious to feel empathetic at the moment. But he could see things from his coworker's point of view: he'd acted very depressed and distant yesterday, only to become a bubbly, hyper ball of nerves today.

"Can you sit still for a second? I can't focus with your chair squeaking like that."

"Sorry," Jungkook replied, ceasing to bounce his leg for a maximum of two seconds, before resuming the action.

Unlike yesterday, Jungkook was more productive than ever, even though his mind was preoccupied with other matters. He finished doing all his scheduled work within an hour of his arrival. It was a given that the work he did wouldn't be as good as it usually was, but Jungkook still thought it was passable.

And since BigHit was not a results-only company, it didn't matter that he'd finished his work. He would still have to stay at the office until 5 PM.

"Namjoon. You've been friends with Lisa for a while, right?" he asked Namjoon.

"I wouldn't call us friends, really. But we're on friendly terms. So sort of... I guess. Why?"

Jungkook evaded that question for the moment. "So by default, since you're somewhat familiar with Lisa, you should know more than I do about Pa- I mean, Chaeyoung, right?"

Namjoon scoffed, evidently realizing the motive for Jungkook's questioning. "I guess.  Unless you two have been hooking up every day after work, I know more about her than you."

Jungkook blushed involuntarily, even though he knew that that was not the truth. "W-why would you think that we're- that's a preposterous idea!"

"I never said that I did think so.You get so worked up over nothing, Jungkook. Plus, you don't have to be secretive with me if you want to win her over. I'm on your side."

Jungkook stayed silent for a few more seconds. "Do you know what foods or drinks she likes?"

"Oh. As for food, she likes most Korean dishes. And for drinks, just don't get her alcohol. She is very steadfast about not drinking."

"That's easy to arrange," Jungkook muttered. "Thanks, Joon."

"No problem. Now be quiet for a few hours. Not everyone can pump out crappy work like you."

Namjoon POV

While Jungkook was talking, Namjoon received a text from Lisa, who he'd managed to add as a contact without Taehyung knowing..

Lisa: What's the deal with Jungkook? Chae won't tell me why she's so bubbly today.

Namjoon: I think they made up after yesterday. They might be having a date or something today. Jungkook was asking about her favorite foods.

Lisa: Any need for us to help?

Namjoon: Nope. I think our work here is done.

Jungkook POV

Jungkook left at 5 PM sharp, and started to sprint home at full speed. This, of course, meant that he received demeaning looks from passerby, but it was worth it if it meant more time to prepare for the date. He'd contemplated bringing his car to work today, but he reasoned that if Chaeyoung saw him driving home and not offering her a ride, it would make him look like a douche. And that wouldn't be a good impression on the day of their date.

Date.

The word sounded so foreign, even in his mind. He realized now that he had no idea what a date entitled, having never been on one before. But he was still excited, nonetheless.

He arrived at his doorstep two minutes later. "Forty blocks in eight minutes? Could be better," he said to himself, before unlocking the door and entering, making a beeline to his nightstand, where his car keys were. Right now, his task was to buy the ingredients for the dishes he was going to cook, because right now, his refrigerator was undoubtedly empty. He quickly scrambled back outside to his car, before somewhat illegally rushing to the supermarket. He'd already prepared a list of things he had to buy and do, not to mention looked up the recipe for the foods he planned to cook. This was what he'd spent his time at work doing instead of, well, work.

He worried for a split second that he would make the food terribly, but he quickly dashed the thought out of his mind. He was always good at what he did, no matter what it was. Except for talking to girls. That, he would always be bad at. But everything else came easily to him, no matter how challenging it was to others.

*

Chaeyoung POV

As much as it was amusing to see Jungkook dash from his seat like a high school student when the end bell rings, she was quite honestly unsettled with the way Jisoo was eyeing her from across the room. Sure, Chaeyoung liked to think she was strong and independent by herself, but Jisoo was unpredictable and, to be frank, scary. So, with that in mind, she asked Lisa to walk home with her.

"But your house is so far," Lisa whined upon Chaeyoung's request. However, after a few minutes of begging and bits of aegyo to appeal to Lisa's soft side, her friend reluctantly agreed.

The two started on the long trek home, and Chaeyoung's mind wandered, like it always did these days. She wondered what Jungkook had planned for tonight, especially since it was at his house. Normally, Chaeyoung would've been hesitant to spend a first date at a house, but she'd already been in his house before. Plus, she felt that she already knew Jungkook so well with everything they'd done together, despite the fact that they'd only really talked for a few days.

This was undoubtedly the most excited she'd ever been. Sure, she'd been on other dates with other guys before, but Jungkook was completey different. Every thought of him was always accompanied by tingles throughout her body.

"You seem to smile a lot these days," Lisa said, unexpectedly. Chaeyoung realized that there indeed was a smile on her face. She quickly wiped the expression off her face. "I didn't mean for you to stop," Lisa added, when she saw the effect her words had. "I'm happy for you Chae. Even if I'm not the main source of your happiness anymore, I'm happy as long as you are."

"I never said you weren't, Lisa."

Lisa changed the subject, not bothering to defend her point. "You're still letting Jisoo get to you. I told you not to."

"You've heard the stories too, Lisa."

"But they're exactly that: stories. Nothing has been proven against her. If you're really adamant about her being a stalker or whatever, just bring a voice recorder or something wherever you go. Problem solved."

Chaeyoung didn't respond, though she couldn't find any faults in Lisa's logic.

"Be happy, Chaeng. I don't want to see you sad, like when we first met."

The words "when we first met" were partnered with a bunch of memories of her father that she didn't feel like remembering at the moment.

"What do you think he has planned for you?" asked Lisa, effectively distracting Chaeyoung from her thoughts.

"I don't know."

Jungkook POV

"I don't know what I'm doing wrong," said Jungkook. He'd successfully procured bibimbap and samgyeopsal, as well as a kimchi dish, but right now, he was completely stumped. He was trying to set the table, but whichever way he arranged the three foods on the table, it didn't look right. The table would only look a way that Jungkook was satisfied with if it looked at equilibrium, yet that was hard to do when  the plates were all different sizes.

He knew that his problem was very miniscule compared to what he should be worrying about, like an outfit or making his house less messy, but he was a perfectionist with everything he did. Including setting tables.

After fussing around a bit more, he decided to add a water pitcher and a vase of flowers to even out the distribution of the table, finally appeasing his picky heart.

But now, he had to pick his outfit. That was going to be a nightmare. He decided to stall by doing chores, which took him slightly less than an hour. This was very detrimental, as the time afterwards was 7:30, leaving him only 30 minutes to dress. And he needed every minute to figure out an outfit that wasn't just a T-shirt and skinny jeans.

*

In the end, Jungkook decided to wear all black, going for a formal yet somewhat laid back look.

At exactly 8, the doorbell rang, and Jungkook almost tripped over his own feet trying to get to the door. He excitedly opened the door, and to say the least, he was outdressed yet again. Chaeyoung hadn't worn anything similar to him; instead wearing somewhat casual clothes that made her look like a fashion model.

He was only able to stop salivating over her exposed midriff and skinny jeans when she started talking.

"Hi," she said simply, the mist coming from reminding him how cold it was outside and that he should let her in instead of blocking her way like an idiot.

"You look gorgeous," he replied before stepping aside and letting her step in, before locking the door. "Do you want me to take your jacket?" he added.

"Yes, please," she replied, her voice sounding like it was on the verge of laughter.

"What?" Jungkook asked while carrying her coat to a coat rack he may or may not have just bought.

"You're so cute when you're being a gentleman."

"Thanks," Jungkook said, leading the way to the dining room and pulling out Chaeyoung's chair for her to further his gentlemanliness. "I'm not the best cook," he warned, "but I tried my best. And it won't taste as good as you do."

Chaeyoung, who was just about to sit on her seat, almost fell out of it. "What di-"

Jungkook enjoyed the reaction he received from teasing her. "Yeah, the food won't taste as good as the pasta you made yesterday."

"Oh right. My nickname." She looked relieved. "I thought you meant-"

"But your lips taste pretty great, too," Jungkook added, knowing he might be pushing his luck, but going through with the flirtation anyways. He casually started piling food onto his plate while Chaeyoung just looked shocked. "Oh shoot, I forgot," he said, getting out of his seat. He took the water pitcher and poured water into both of their cups. Plopping back into his seat with a content sigh, he waited for Chaeyoung to fill her own plate.

But she didn't do so, apparently more affected by his words than he'd anticipated.

"I'm sorry if-"

"Don't apologize," Chaeyoung interrupted him, her voice noticably deeper by a pitch. He saw something change in her eyes, like a flame was lit up behind her irises. She started to pile the food he prepared into her plate, taking almost as much food as he had. Then, looking directly into his eyes, she slowly her lips, before delving into the dinner.

Jungkook kept staring at her lips much after she started eating, and he knew that was the reaction Chaeyoung wanted from him. However, he didn't mind. If this was going to be a battle of teasing, he would be sure to win.

*

The three dishes were completely gone before he knew it, leaving him slightly bitter that the date was going to be shorter than he wanted it to be. But he still had another, although stereotypical, activity planned.

He led her to the living room, and they took a seat, Jungkook grabbing the remote for the television. "What kind of movies do you like?" he asked.

"Guess," she replied, and spontaneously rested her head on his shoulder as if it was natural for her. Oh right. The teasing.

Like she probably planned, Jungkook was very distracted by the contact. The bristles of her hair made it feel like hundreds of tiny electrical sparks were being conducted on his skin. Even though he knew that she knew that she'd gotten her way, he tried to play it off.

With his remote he scrolled down through the list of movies on his screen. They were organized by genre. "So I'm guessing you don't like action or thriller." He ducked his head to her ear and. "Am I right?"

Chaeyoung started a bit, not expecting him to be so close. But she recovered, much quicker than he would've if she'd done that to him. "Yup," she stated.

"Comedy and mystery are too cheesy these days, so I'll cross that off the list. Documentaries- I don't have any on cute animals, and the others are too boring, so that's out, too. So that leaves animated, romance, and drama."

"Huh. That's really accurate. But I'm getting kind of bored here." She then feigned a yawn, but Jungkook hurried up with his conclusion anyways.
