Days have passed since the first day of school. As they were in the senior year already, mini tests were already sat for. As usual, Lee Ji Eun topped her class. Probably because her brain structure was different, she is extremely clever. She can apply the knowledge learnt flexibly and she picks up things fast. Due to her excellent academics and because she sits beside Myung soo, she naturally became the number one enemy on the hate chart among the fan girls. However, she didn’t care about whether she is liked or disliked by them. Instead, she liked it that way.

In this way, she would not have close contact with them and the chances of getting discovered are minimal. Since she is unable to return to her planet, she felt that the only option was adaptation. She had to adapt and live on like a human. She wanted to obey her parents’ last words and live on well, alone. It is during lesson time now. The teacher had finished teaching them and left them to practise a few sums.

Within minutes, Ji Eun was completed. She looked out of the window and at the sky. “Above that sky, those clouds, is home isn’t it?” She thought to herself.  A tear slipped out of her eyes as she thought of her parents. She didn’t know where is the four dimensional space and where are her parents. Maybe… They are in the place called “eavhen”. Her parents told her when she was young that when people vanish, they go to a holy place where there are “gelsan” who will guide them. In there, everyone lives peacefully and happily together, awaiting their other family members.

She smiled at the thought of reuniting with her parents someday as the tear rolled to her lips. Noticing what she just did, Ji Eun quickly brushed off the stray tear and picked up her pen. She continued doing other sums which were not told to do yet. Unknown to her, her actions were all seen by L who just watched silently and looked back. “Why did she cry?” He thought to himself. He was just curious.

Once the school bell went off, Ji Eun picked up her bag and got out of her seat. She strode off to the school gate, ignoring all those irritating fan girls’ murmurings along the corridor. “I should be on time. Shall just get a sandwich from 7-eleven.” Ji eun thought to herself as she walked into the provision shop. “$2.30 please.” The cashier said with a smile. Emptying out the coins in her purse, she paid the cashier and grabbed the sandwich. “Thank you.” She murmured and left the store.

Munching on her sandwich, she was on her way to her part time job. That was the only way she could earn her living and pay for all the fees. Unlike her planet where there was no currency and everyone just did their job to keep the planet running, Earth was different. On Earth, everything is based on one common thing- Money. Regardless of water, food, lodging, schooling or transportation required money.

“Hi, I am here to report.” Ji Eun said and bowed. “Okay, you are on time. Get ready and serve table number 3 his order. “A lady said to her.  “Yes, I understand. Right away~” She said and ran with small quick steps to the staff room. She put down her school bag and changed into the restaurant’s uniform. Going to the counter, she picked up the tray of food and served the customer his food. “Sir, here is your order. Thank you and enjoy your food.” She said with a smile as she placed the food on the table.

After a tiring day at work, Ji Eun was ready to knock off. “You did well today. Go home and have some rest.” The lady from before who is her boss said to Ji Eun and patted her shoulder. “Thank you. See you tomorrow. Bye bye~” Ji Eun slung her bag across her shoulder and waved goodbye. Walking out of the shop and onto the streets, she looked up at the starry sky. “So you think you are cool, huh? “ a loud voice was heard from the aisle. “Trying to go off without apologising ?!”Another voice sounded. “Are you a mute? Do you know who you are messing with, you bastard!” A man shouted. Ji Eun held tightly onto her bag and continued walking. She peeped into the aisle as she passed by.

With the aid of the dim street lights, she spotted a young man being held against the wall. “Isn’t that L?!” Ji Eun thought to herself as she covered . “Stop staring! I said stop staring!” The man squeezed his cheeks with his hand on his chin. “ Bash him up!” The man ordered his people. Four burly men were hitting L fiercely. Soon, he was bleeding and fell to the ground.

His retaliation was useless. There were too many of them. “At this rate, they will kill him…” Ji Eun thought to herself. She was worried. The men continued to hit and kick him like nobody’s business. Ji Eun could not hold it in anymore. She went forward and shouted, “ Stop ! You will kill him!” “Get out of here. This is not your business, little girl !” One of the men pushed her. She knocked into the broken glass bottle and started bleeding. Blue blood was flowing out of her wound as she held it with one of her hand. She held up her bottle with rose and shouted, “Leave you gangsters!” As if possessed, the gangsters obediently retreated out of the aisle and onto the street.

After some distance, they came back to their senses. “What just happened?” The gangster chief said. “Nothing? Hahaha… Let’s continue.” His man said. They have forgotten. “Are you alright?” Ji Eun kneeled onto the cold ground and asked in a worried tone. However, there was no response. L was unconscious and badly injured. “I will bring you to the hospital.” Ji Eun said as she placed his arms around her shoulder and helped him up with much difficulty.

With the other hand, she dailed the ambulance number and laid him down on the main road. “Hello, is this the ambulance? I have a casualty here. His name is Kim Myung Soo and we are along Namdaemun-no 1-ga . Please send an ambulance as soon as possible. He is bleeding profusely and is already unconscious.” Ji Eun said in an urgent tone. “Yes, I have noted down the information. The ambulance is on its way down already.” The voice over the phone said before hanging up.

“Don’t worry. You will be fine. The ambulance is coming. “ Ji Eun reassured the motionless L. After minutes, the ambulance siren was sounded and arrived. L was loaded onto the ambulance and brought to the hospital. After he was pushed into the room, Ji Eun went into the toilet. She took out a handkerchief from her bag and tied a knot over her wound. After some time, a nurse came out and said, “Don’t worry. Kim Myung Soo is fine already. He is transferred to the ward and you are his?” “I am his… friend.” Ji Eun said and bowed to thank the nurse.

“Okay, you may visit him. He should be awake soon after the anesthetic wears off. He is in ward 3. ” The nurse said with a sweet smile. “ Ok. Thank you.” Ji Eun said and gave another bow. After the nurse left, she walked to ward 3. “I think I just called this guy my friend. I must have been crazy to save him with my powers, almost got found out and even call him my… friend!” Ji Eun scolded herself mentally.

Sitting by L’s bed, Ji Eun had a close look at the guy’s face. Indeed, he looks even more handsome in a close-up view. That flawless skin and perfectly crafted features are the creation of god. This must have been his satisfied masterpiece. “Oh.What am I doing?!” Ji Eun bounced back and thought. She was looking at him again like a fan girl. “Altimisso! You better keep away from this guy. You are treating him too well! Because of him you are almost discovered. I shall stay away from him in future…” Ji Eun thought to herself and gave herself a light knock.

Then, she yawned. Today was a tiring day. Thankfully, tomorrow is a Saturday and she can take a break as it is her off day on weekends. She found an empty spot on L’s hospital bed and placed her head on it to take a short nap.

The next morning, Ji Eun woke up. When she opened her eyes, she was shocked! The hospital bed is empty. “Woah? What situation is this now?!” Ji Eun said in a surprised tone. “Looking for me?” A familiar cool voice was heard behind her. “Oh. It’s you? Feeling better?” Ji Eun asked as she turned behind and see L. “Yea, I am. Just went out for a walk.” He explained and sat back onto the bed. “If you are ok, I will take my leave now.” She said and stood up to take her leave. Her duty was over.

As she was about to leave, she heard something that was soft. It was a “Thanks” that was soft but loud enough to be heard by Ji Eun. She continued walking and a light smile appeared on her cool face as she exited the ward. Looking at her back view, a slight smile surfaced on L's face.
