“R…I…N…G!!!!” The alarm clock went off incessantly. “Ahhh~ so… noisy!!!” Ji Eun yawned and hit the snooze button. Opening her bleary eyes slightly, she looked at the time on the clock. “Oh! It is 11.45 am already! I better get washed up before I am late!!” Ji Eun muttered as she jumped out of bed. Running to her wardrobe, she randomly grabbed a set of clothes and started bathing. After some time, she came out clumsily from the bath room.

Standing before the mirror, she checked her attire. “Hmm… It seems a little too casual, huh?” Ji Eun said to the reflection before her. She took out another set of clothes and placed it before her. “This… is too formal?” She continued, tossing it aside. “How about this one?” She took another set from her wardrobe. Suddenly, she turned back and looked at her alarm clock. “ Oh ! I am going to be late.” Ji Eun said to herself.

She quickly changed into the last set of clothes, collected the rest that were lying messily on the bed and threw them into the wardrobe before closing it. “I don’t want to see that cold face turn angry for the whole day.” She thought to herself as she fastens her pace. As she was on the way to the school bus stop, she saw L from afar, leaning on the notice board at the bus stop. He was wearing a simple blue checkered jacket over a simple T-shirt. His hair was perfectly styled up. Timidly, she walked up to L, hoping that he did not realise she is late.

“Hello?” Ji Eun managed a wave and smiled at L. “Hi. You are 5 minutes and 23 seconds late.”L said monotonously. “Hehes… Ehs… come on! You are a man. Don’t be so petty!” Ji Eun nudged him and laughed. Seeing that his facial expression still remained unchanged, Ji Eun knew the plan was not working. “Okay, fine. I am sorry for being late.” Ji Eun said in a serious manner. “That sounds better. I forgive you. Let’s go.” L said as he stood up straight and started walking.

“Aish. This guy is so…” Ji Eun thought to herself as she stamped her feet on the ground. “Don’t do that. They ground will crack.” L joked. “Ah! Sometimes I prefer when it is the quiet L ! This guy is seriously driving me crazy~” Ji Eun shouted in her mind. “Hey. Not leading the way?” L turned around and looked at her with his hands in the pocket. “Okay, fine. Since you beg me I will lead the way.” Ji Eun held her head high and walked past L.

L smirked and followed behind her. After travelling for some time and stopping by the stationery shop to get some materials, they arrived at Ji Eun’s place. Ji Eun opened the door and L followed her in. He looked around briefly and settled on the sofa. “You are supposed to wait for the host to say ‘Please enter and make yourself at home.’ Before you sit down! “ Ji Eun stared at him and said. “You just said it.” L said with a smile. “Ah whatever!” Ji Eun said in an irritated tone as she took the seat beside Myung Soo on the sofa.

“So… You live alone?” L asked as he looked around the house once more. Ji Eun nodded her head lightly. “Which means now… A hot blooded, handsome young man is alone with a girl in her house? What do you think will happen next?” L said and smirked, inching closer towards Ji Eun. He looked at Ji Eun and stared at her again. Soon, they were face to face and only inches apart.“Yah! Start doing the music project!” Ji Eun shouted, breaking the eye contact with him as she pulled her face away.

She felt her heart pound extremely fast. If he moved another inch closer, she was certain her heart would have broken its way out of her rib cage. “That’s not fun at all.” L commented as he leaned back onto the sofa. “ So… What should we start with?” L asked. Ji Eun felt her cheeks burning. Afraid that she is blushing madly and will be discovered, she quickly stood up and got to the computer table. “I will do the research of information on famous pianists, compositions and piano history. You will be in charge of the decoration of the presentation board and final presentation.” Ji Eun said, looking at the computer,  back-facing L. Her cheeks were still hot.

“Okay. “ L agreed as he took out the materials and started. After hours of research, Ji Eun was finally done with her part. She printed out the information and removed it from the printer. “I am done. Your turn.”  Ji Eun said as she stretched out her right hand with the papers in her hands. However, there was no response. She turned the computer chair around and found Myung Soo sleeping quietly on the sofa. He looked like a peaceful angel. Ji Eun could not help but stare at him for a few couple of seconds.

As she realised herself staring at him, she cut the gaze and looked down. She ran her fingers on the presentation board and held it up facing her. The presentation board looked fabulous! He decorated it with black and white paper, fully representing the piano theme. It was so simple but perfect. She placed the papers down together with the board and yawned. After looking at the computer for so long, her eyes are tired and blurry already. She rested her head on the computer table and decided to take a short nap.

During her sleep, she felt a soft thing over her as she wriggled comfortably into it and continued sleeping soundly. The first ray of sunlight penetrated through the glass panels and the curtains before landing on Ji Eun’s face. She opened her eyes slightly and realised that she had slept throughout the night. “How did I end up on the sofa anyways? Why don’t I remember walking to the sofa? And when did I take my blanket along?” Ji Eun scratched her head and wondered. Sitting up, she stretched her arms into the air and looked around.

“Is he gone?” She thought to herself. Then, a piece of paper caught her eyes. On it was some neatly scribbled words. It read:

Hey Pig,
I am leaving first. I am done with the pasting of information. The presentation board is with me. I brought it along to do some final touch up. You better memorise the cue cards on the table well. Don’t screw up and affect my score tomorrow.

PS: Who said that you can sleep during our project discussion?

“What? Who was the one who slept first? A pot calling a kettle black now! And what is with the I will affect your score? You better not affect mine! Hmmps. Blehs!” Ji Eun cursed under her breath and stuck out her tongue at the paper. After which, she laughed at her childishness and stupidity. Within an hour, Ji eun has finished memorising her part well. After all, her brain was really good at such stuff.

The following day…

“So… Now we have Myung Soo and Ji Eun presenting to us the Piano.” The teacher introduced. Expectedly, the applause was thundering because of the almighty Myung Soo. Ji eun rolled her eyes as the fan girls screamed their lungs out. The two made their way to the front of the music room and bowed. “Good afternoon teachers and students. I am Ji Eun and this is Myung Soo. We will be presenting on the Piano. The piano origins can be traced back to the year 1700 back in Florence, Italy. Also, traces of its existence were also found as early as in the 250BC! Piano is…” Ji eun started first. “ Now that you see the beauty of the piano, let’s look at the famous pianists. The world famous pianists ranges from the Johann Sebastian who played the Air on G string with merely the G chords; Ludwig Van Beethoven who played Fur Elise despite being almost deaf and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who composed since he was five. Now, allow me to bring you through the art of piano… I will be performing the piece, Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel.” L finished off the presentation and walked towards the piano.

He played elegantly and smoothly on the piano. “He looks exceptionally handsome when he plays the piano...” Ji Eun thought to herself as he stared at Myung Soo. She allowed herself to fan girl over him for this once as he was really irresistibly good-looking on the piano. After Myung Soo completed, the fan girls cheered even louder than before. “Oppa! You are so handsome~” One of them shouted from the audience. “Oppa!~ You played really well!!” Another of them shouted. L smiled as he walked back to Ji Eun. Even the teacher was amazed by their presentation.  She gladly gave them both an A for the grading.  “Why were you staring at me just now?” L whispered to Ji Eun as they stood in front of the class during the applause. “I…” Ji Eun didn’t know what to say. “How did he know I was looking at him?” Ji Eun thought to herself as she avoided his eyes.
