Chapter 14 - Autumn

"How was the morning?" Ara laughed when Baekhyun gave her a pained look. "Tiring, I presume."

"They ate everything in the kitchen," Sehun whispered with a horrified look on his face, eyes going distant when he recalled the morning. He shivered and shook his head. "Even when I work out, I eat less than they did." Ara frowned.

"They have been on the run since their pack was wiped out, I don't think they stopped by McDonald's and grabbed a few burgers on the way," she mumbled, and Kyungsoo snorted from next to her. Kai was sitting behind them, head resting on the desk as always. "Are they still in the pack house?"

"Yeah, they're resting right now, we're gonna discuss the beast when we get back home." Ara nodded at Baekhyun, but frowned inwardly. Kai was clearly familiar with the idea of skipping classes; why hadn't he just done it today to settle out the business with the wolves?

"Class has started now, students, put your damn phones away," came Mr. Kim's loud voice, and everyone quieted down. 

After the class had ended, the gang decided to take a small break out on the schoolyard. It was a surprisingly warm day considering that it was October, the sun sending out golden rays, warming up frosted, orange and red leaves.

Some of the students had the same idea as the gang, scattered around the yard, soaking up the warm air. The smell of lit chimneys and burnt wood floated around with a light breeze, and Ara couldn't help but smile, joy bubbling in her abdomen.
