Hyukjae’s sobs came out like coughs, trying to hold it in, but failing miserably. His father hugged him so tightly, and whispered, “I am a few years late, but dad is here now. I am so proud of you.”

Hyukjae didn’t want to let him go.

He didn’t want anyone to see his face.

But when his father finally moved away, he saw that his father was crying too.

His father picked up the microphone and began, “Today, I am here to celebrate with my son his achievements. His lover and I prepared this surprise for him,” Hyukjae looked at Donghae surprised, and Donghae was crying his eyes out as well, “I am proud of him, for what he is, what he has become, and what he has always been… a remarkable, generous and hard working human being, who I am lucky enough to call a son. He came to teach me, and it took me a long time, but I am here to stay, if he still wants his old man in his life. Please, I ask you, to support him like you have done so far. This is the people’s choices, and they chose my son. A lot of his patients are here today, and I would like to thank them for opening my eyes, but especially, to Donghae, my son’s other half, who had the patience and enthusiasm of clarifying a few truths. Here, for the personality of the year, for his remarkable career and achievements, I give this prize to Dr Lee Hyukjae.”

He passed the award to Hyukjae, and gave him another hug.

The crowd went wild.

Hyukjae’s eyes were full of tears that were running freely down his face. They got off the stage and Donghae was waiting for them below. He hugged Hyukjae and said, “Congratulations darling!”

The other just hugged him and cried.

The father patted his back and said, “If you want me on your table, let me know.”

Donghae answered quickly, “Of course he does! You have been separated long enough!”

They both smiled at Donghae.

Hyukjae didn’t let go of Donghae’s hand as he was shaking so much, emotions overbearing.

Siwon appeared from nowhere and he hugged Hyukjae, “I am so happy for you! I am so glad you are here!”

He immediately became serious and offered his hand to Mr Lee senior. Since Siwon was the director of the ceremony
