Irene surprised Seulgi with a trip to the amusement park. They spent the day happily with the ride-all-you-can pass until evening. Their last ride was the ferris wheel and the view was breathtaking. Irene leaned her head closer to Seulgi’s shoulder and held her hand tightly.

In a heartbeat, Irene was weeping without any words that Seulgi panicked, turning to face her ad holding her face. But Irene told her that she loved her – so much – then kissed her, salty with tears.

Seulgi’s own tears started to fall even though she didn’t understand any of it, didn’t understand that it was the last time she would ever hear those three words from Irene.

Seulgi was very understanding. When Irene started to become aloof and their dates became less frequent, she kept her distance. She went straight home several days, only interacting with Irene through short straightforward messages.

Irene (3:47 AM): i’m sorry. see you later.

Seulgi (6:02 AM) good morning. sorry for what?

Irene (6:20 AM) nothing big. i’ll wait for you later after class.

Irene wasn’t the type of person who says cliché “We need to talk.” and “It’s not you, it’s me” types of speech. They met after class to go to a new café they would like to try. But, instead of waiting for Seulgi’s class to end outside her classroom, Irene waited inside her car.
