Hiding Place

The Target

Never before was Nam Woo Hyun met with such a situation. The moment he was away from his bodyguards proved to be the opportunate time for someone to try and attack him. The statement from the girl he was with did not make the surreal situation any more believable.   After another second of his silence, Hyun Mi pushed him away from herself, and he took it as a cue to sit upright. He then offered a hand to the girl and helped get her up.   “We need to go now.” She never let go of his hand and pulled him away from the park before he even had the time to dust off his long navy blue trench coat.   Avoiding the situation would not help them advance in any way. He wanted to know what was going on and assumed the girl had answers he sought after. So he tagged along for now.   Hyun Mi fetched her phone and hauled a taxi in the rather deserted streets beside the park. She was quite a multi tasker, he noted.   A vehicle slowed down in front of them, and Woo Hyun opened the door, letting her in first before he followed put. There was an awkward distance between the two who sat far apart now. “Where are we going?” He asked.   “Which hotel don’t you usually stay at? We should go there,” Hyun Mi answered swiftly, still holding the phone in her hand as someone answered on the other side. “Oppa? I need your help.”   He figured she was talking to someone else on the phone now, so he told the driver to head to Ritz Carlton Hotel.   “Please book a suite room for two people at Ritz Carlton under my other ID,” Hyun Mi spoke, meeting Woo Hyun’s eyes who looked at her so puzzled. She cleared and quickly looked away. “One room.”   Woo Hyun’s eyes never left her even as she ended the phone call and avoided his gaze. “What’s going on?” He demanded.   “It seems someone is trying to kill you,” Hyun Mi answered, leaving out the important part that she was one of them.   “Why?”   “That’s what I’d like to know too.” She now properly faced him, her face stern, and completely unaffected by his intense gaze. She disregarded her heart’s pounding when she nearly got lost in those beautiful dark brown eyes of his.   “Maybe you committed a crime.”   Woo Hyun’s eyes widened, and she could visually see him trying to retrace his memories and ponder on his previous actions. Even if he discovered something, he wouldn’t have shared it with this stranger.   The remainder of the car ride was quiet. She changed to a beanie large enough to cover most of her head, an oversized sunglasses, and a black facemask. She then gave the same set of items to Woo Hyun to conceal his identity, which he was forced to wear. And in that silence, the car reached the prestigious hotel.   “I have booked a room under the name Moon Yeon Hee,” Hyun Mi told the staff at the reception. She showed her ID to the female staff who was not weirded out by her fashion. Luckily Ki Bum wasn’t present, or he’d start a whole lecture about her ignorant fashion sense.   Her brother, on the other hand, was so reliable. She knew she could count on Dong Woo to enter her information into the hotel’s computer system and put her false name as a last-minute guest without actually having to book a room.   “A deluxe suite for two people, correct?” The staff asked, and Hyun Mi nodded. The staff started typing some things on the keyboard and soon handed her a card key. “The room is at the 22nd floor. Enjoy your stay, miss Moon.”   “Thank you.” Hyun Mi dragged the card key from the counter and soon linked her arms with Woo Hyun while heading to the elevator. She pressed the button to the uppermost floor.   “What is this?” Woo Hyun proved his agility once again when he fetched the ID card from her hand before she had a chance to react. He studied the person in the picture that somehow resembled her, but not exactly. Several features were similar, but it wasn’t her. “You’re not Moon Yeon Hee.”   “You should be concerned about your life,” Hyun Mi spoke, taking the ID card back and quickly put it away.   The daze was back on his face again, and this time he scoffed a little. “What would a public speaker need a fake ID for? You are far more interesting than I thought you’d be.”   “I suppose I’ll take that as a compliment.” Hyun Mi flashed him a pretentious smile before walking out of the elevator when the door pinged open.   The two headed to the deluxe suite room, which was the only room occupying the top floor. The golden door handles itself were only a preview of the fanciness that lied within. When they pushed the doors open, an interior that looked like a Hollywood movie set taken straight from a lifestyle magazine greeted. Despite the current horror they were situated in, both awed at the splendor of the huge room.   “I’ve been to many hotels, but this room somehow looks more beautiful,” Woo Hyun spoke in amazement and turned to the smaller girl beside him. “Must be because you’re in it.”   Hyun Mi halted her awestruck wonder and found him gazing at her so affectionately again. It took her several seconds to compose her heart from reacting to his line, and began to laugh instead. “Good, cause I don’t know how long we’ll be staying here,” she said and walked around the room to study its detail.   “Why are we staying here?” Woo Hyun still waited for a proper explanation and threw another one of his flirty remarks. “Is it because you don’t wanna be away from me?”   “As a matter of fact, yes,” Hyun Mi said and approached him, stopping when they were only inches apart. “Whoever tried to kill you probably went to your house or any of the hotels you usually stay at. It’s not safe for you to be there.”   Woo Hyun grinned. “And it’s safe with you?”   “Safer,” she corrected him. As soon as he was proven to be a criminal, she had to follow the commands to t

Chapter 24: I finally finished this today.
I should have seen it coming with Ki Bum since I do watch a couple of spy movies/dramas.
I think my favorite part is seeing Hyun Mi threaten Mr. Lee and then her conflicting view on their mission in the plane.

Chapter 21: I love how there's another reference to HIPS with Hee Jin mentioning she nearly killed someone with a curling iron. It makes me wonder if that's where she got the idea to use it as a weapon.

Chapter 19: I love how Hyun Mi and Woo Hyun are closer which makes it sadder with what happens to him in HIPS.

Chapter 17: I like how this is kind of like a foreshadowing of HIPS and love the cameo of Hee Jin and Min Seok.

Chapter 14: I don't think Woo Hyun is lying to Hyun Mi.
I like how Hyun Mi and those close to her want to change what their company does. I couldn't help but think maybe one of the higher-ups in their company or maybe Ki Bum is using them for their own goals.

Chapter 14: Wait whatt that was unexpected... I've been feeling that Ki Bum and Mr. Lee were slightly off though, so I think they're both probably lying. There's no way Woohyun would actually deserve to be killed...

But on a happier note, yay Taemin and Maerin! The hand holding part was really cute XD

Chapter 12: Love the appearances of the other characters from HIPS, Seollin and Taehyung introducing themselves made me laugh.
I think my favorite part is when Taemin touched the check because one thing I learn from a game called "Women's Murder Club: Death in Scarlet" is that people tend to press a bit hard when writing. So whatever they wrote might be indented into the next sheet of paper.

Chapter 11: The part where they nearly got caught is so intense. It reminded me of a level I played in "Hitman 2", where Agent 47 has about at least 3 to 5 minutes to kill his target before his identity gets discovered.
Also, the two finally kissed! I laughed at the part where Hyun Mi realized the others might have seen it from the CCTV.

Chapter 10: Woo Hyun to the rescue! I find it sweet he's there to save Hyun Mi from Sang Gyu since she and the others were stuck on what to do.
