Fourth Movement (Part 2)

The Target

No further explanation was needed to understand the logic of Mr. Lee’s plan. The SM-Zero virus would be released in the air once the trombone was played during the fourth movement. Therefore, they had to prevent the fourth movement from happening.   “You better hurry up, the third movement is about to end,” Maerin said as she clenched Tae Min’s hand in hers, relishing her panic through that one squeeze.   “Go talk to the security guard to stop the performance, or else we’ll have to stop it by force,” Dong Woo instructed, and the two younger ones obeyed.   “Any sight of Mr. Lee?” Woo Hyun questioned.   “We haven’t spotted him yet,” Dong Woo replied. “What about Ki Bum? No leads from him?”   “The top floor was filled with Mr. Lee’s minions, but no sign of the man himself.”   “We’ll tell you if we spot him,” Tae Min said, motioning to the girl besides him.   They got up from their seat, earning some shushes from the people behind whose view they were blocking. Tae Min had his fingers latched in hers as he carefully guided her near the side wall. They had to find a security guard, soon spotting the one they had seen earlier.   “How are we even going to ask him to stop the performance?” Maerin asked when they descended the emergency pathway at the side. The security guard was located right in front of the performance stage, keeping his utmost attention to the peacefulness of the surrounding.   “You’re good in Spanish,” Tae Min encouraged her, smiling sweetly and so oblivious to the truth.   Right, Maerin had to once again bluff a little to keep up her dependable image in front of her crush. With her head majestically tilted high, she tapped the back of the earlier security guard and took a deep breath when he spun around. Time to show her wisdom.   “Bomb! Bomb! Big boom!” She spoke, her eyes widening along as her hand motioned all the explosive movements. Then she proceeded to make unintellectual noises to represent a bomb going off. Her determination in relaying the epic message faded when the security looked uninterested, and her voice toned down on its own.   “Vete!” The security guard repeated what he had said earlier. He took Maerin by the collar and was about to show her the way out by force.   “Hey! You don’t touch my girlfriend like that!” Tae Min uttered in annoyance. He exerted some strength to prey the guard’s hand away from Maerin, giving him the best intimidating glare he could muster.   The security guard looked surprised at first, but then he made motions to shoo them away. He didn’t like those meddlesome kids.   Tae Min wrapped an arm around Maerin and led her away before an entire commotion would erupt. “I guess he wouldn’t believe us,” He said, moving his eyes to her. It was then when he realized her disconnect towards the mission, completely immersed in her own world when a derpy looking grin crossed her face. He couldn’t help but chuckle.   “Did you mean that?” She asked, unable to look him in the eye. She didn’t even know when her hands started twisting together in a coy manner, and her legs began curling against each other.   “What?” Tae Min blinked.   “About the girlfriend thing.” It was quite embarrassing for her to say so herself, so she couldn’t help but dramatize a few coughs here and there between the words she spoke.   Tae Min only smiled at her odd antics, finding it absolutely adorable in his eyes. “I thought we were dating since the confession at the airport,” he said, pinching her cheek affectionately.   “The airport?”   “I said I liked you. Doesn’t that indicate we’re dating?” Tae Min blinked in confusion.   Maerin couldn’t stop her grin from stretching wider across her cheek. Technically, that wasn’t how the common procedure went, but she’d accept anything when it came to Tae Min. If he said they had been dating since the airport confession, so be it. She was now officially his girlfriend.   “This is really great and all that, but we have a virus to stop,” Dong Woo’s suddenly interrupted in their earpiece before the new lovebirds could hug it out.   “You heard?” Maerin panicked in embarrassment.   “Yup. You forgot to turn off your microphone,” Hyun Mi said, laughing at the younger one. At least it was an enjoyable short intermezzo before having to stop the concert.   “Oh! They’re done playing the third movement.” Hee-Jin remarked.   As Tae Min and Maerin turned around, they saw the musicians turning over the music sheet on their individual music stand. Realization hit them that time was running out, and they grew more desperate to succeed.   “There’s a virus! What part don’t you understand?” Maerin still tried yelling, but the same security guard was blocking the way. His large built body managed to stop her or Tae Min from moving forward.   From the corner of her eyes, she sighted the other comrades appear at the entrance at the back of the seat. Everyone looked equally panicked, awaiting a command to proceed to the next move.   “This won’t do. We need to do it by force.” Dong Woo instructed. He searched the control panel for one particular button that was guaranteed to stop everything. But everything looked similar, and he wasn’t sure which button would do the trick.   “They’re about to play it!” Hana noted, watching the trombone players position their lips against the instrument. This was dangerous.   In the short span of time, Woo Hyun quickly searched Hyun Mi’s clutch and pulled out some smoke bombs from it. He bit the handle off with his teeth and randomly threw several of them into the auditorium. White fog began to appear to draw people’s attention, including the trombone players.   “Bomb! Bomb!” Maerin yelled once again, and this time people were willing to listen. She looked smugly at the security guard with an ‘I told you so’ attitude.   The smoke bombs continued to unleash a thicker white smoky mist, covering nearly the entire area. People soon began to yell in horror, terrified at the sudden threat. It didn’t take long before frantic cries filled the auditorium and people began crowding towards the exit. Security guards were busy ushering everyone in an orderly manner to escape.   Then came the emergency rain from the water sprinklers Dong Woo finally managed to activate. More people began shouting when they started getting soaking wet. This act prompted the musicians to leave the stage as well, leaving their instruments unattended.   Woo Hyun was the first one to sprint towards the stage as Hyun Mi quickly followed from behind, careful enough so her tall stilettos wouldn’t slip in the rain. He easily jumped his way unto the stage, examining the trombone. He inserted his hand into the tube of the instrument, pulling out a plastic sack with white flour like powder inside. The plastic was punctured with large holes, and he had to carefully hold unto it to not accidentally blow against it.   Hyun Mi grabbed an unattended plastic bag someone left behind, apologizing to no one in particular when she emptied its content to the floor. She then followed Woo Hyun to the stage and held the plastic open for him to deport the virus in.   They repeated the search twice more with the other two trombones present. Apparently Mr. Lee had divided the virus bit by bit into the three trombones. They managed to obtain it all, and Hyun Mi quickly tied the bag as tight as she could to quarantine it as soon as interpol got here.   But to their greatest shock, a sudden power pushed Hyun Mi towards Woo Hyun, and took the plastic bag from her hand by force.   “Kim Ki Bum!” Hyun Mi easily identified the culprit. Thankfully, Woo Hyun’s reflexes were fast enough to prevent her fall. He was quick to release her after ensuring her safety and immediately chased after Ki Bum who was on the run.   She got up on her feet, scanning the entire auditorium once again to find a way to block Ki Bum’s escape. But instead, her eyes sighted a familiar figure on one of the balcony seats on the second floor.   “I see Mr. Lee!” She relayed to her comrades. Her movements were rushed when she grabbed the gun she had hidden beneath her long gown, doing her best to aim it to Mr. Lee. But instead, Mr. Lee was the one who fired a bullet towards her instead. If it weren’t for Tae Min and Maerin quickly pushing her aside, she would’ve gotten hit.   “He’s leaving the seat from the second floor,” Tae Min spoke.   Their eyes were fixed on the runaway fugitive with his loyal secretary by his side. Mr. Lee looked back once, flashing them a malicious smirk, before heading through the door.   “I’ll find him,” Dong Woo spoke, grabbing another gun he had managed to sneak inside. He pushed the door of the control room open, thinking of the next tactic.   “What do I do?” Hee-Jin questioned.   “Stay in touch with Mr. Kim from Interpol. Tell him to get here as fast as he can. It has turned into a code red emergency,” Dong Woo said, passing his personal smartphone to his cousin. “I’ll be right back.”     His shirt was entirely wet from the water sprinkles, and Woo Hyun had removed the blazer from himself to get rid of the unwanted weight. He was still constantly chasing Ki Bum who descended the emergency staircase with trained steps. It was just the two of them as loud echoes of their footsteps resonated inside the silence of the closed off space.   “Woo Hyun, where are you?” He heard Hyun Mi speak through the earpiece. Her voice was so concerned he couldn’t not grin at it.   “I think he’s heading to the parkin

Chapter 24: I finally finished this today.
I should have seen it coming with Ki Bum since I do watch a couple of spy movies/dramas.
I think my favorite part is seeing Hyun Mi threaten Mr. Lee and then her conflicting view on their mission in the plane.

Chapter 21: I love how there's another reference to HIPS with Hee Jin mentioning she nearly killed someone with a curling iron. It makes me wonder if that's where she got the idea to use it as a weapon.

Chapter 19: I love how Hyun Mi and Woo Hyun are closer which makes it sadder with what happens to him in HIPS.

Chapter 17: I like how this is kind of like a foreshadowing of HIPS and love the cameo of Hee Jin and Min Seok.

Chapter 14: I don't think Woo Hyun is lying to Hyun Mi.
I like how Hyun Mi and those close to her want to change what their company does. I couldn't help but think maybe one of the higher-ups in their company or maybe Ki Bum is using them for their own goals.

Chapter 14: Wait whatt that was unexpected... I've been feeling that Ki Bum and Mr. Lee were slightly off though, so I think they're both probably lying. There's no way Woohyun would actually deserve to be killed...

But on a happier note, yay Taemin and Maerin! The hand holding part was really cute XD

Chapter 12: Love the appearances of the other characters from HIPS, Seollin and Taehyung introducing themselves made me laugh.
I think my favorite part is when Taemin touched the check because one thing I learn from a game called "Women's Murder Club: Death in Scarlet" is that people tend to press a bit hard when writing. So whatever they wrote might be indented into the next sheet of paper.

Chapter 11: The part where they nearly got caught is so intense. It reminded me of a level I played in "Hitman 2", where Agent 47 has about at least 3 to 5 minutes to kill his target before his identity gets discovered.
Also, the two finally kissed! I laughed at the part where Hyun Mi realized the others might have seen it from the CCTV.

Chapter 10: Woo Hyun to the rescue! I find it sweet he's there to save Hyun Mi from Sang Gyu since she and the others were stuck on what to do.
