Chapter 7 - Jealousy Sparks
Mind & Heart Affairs“Good morning Kimchi,” Seungjun greeted brightly at the doors of Jihun’s apartment. Seungjun couldn’t help but smile at Jihun’s adorable sleepy face as the other squinted his eyes at the glaring sunlight. This has become the usual routine for them in which Seungjun would go over to Jihun’s house to pick up the latter before making their way to their campus together.
Seungjun caught himself staring at Jihun yet again as the smaller sipped on his juice box on the way to the university. Seungjun had been having trouble sleeping as images of Jihun just would not get out of his mind. Even when Jihun wasn’t appearing in his head, he would appear in the screen of his phone as Seungjun looked back at the pictures that he took with Jihun on their numerous ‘dates’. When they weren’t at school, then they would be hanging out at each other’s houses on the weekends. Seungjun’s heartbeat sped up just at the mere sight of Jihun. He didn’t want to admit it at first, but he has fallen for the younger. Fallen hard. He figured these feelings started ever since the beginning when he felt an immense sense of need to protect Jihun. Seungjun couldn’t understand why he felt that way until now. Seungjun’s in love. The honest talk that they had in the cabin of a Ferris wheel last night was the final nail to confirm his feelings. He knew that it was against his work ethics to fall in love with a patient but hey, who is he to deny his heart’s choices?
There was a nagging bug, however, at the bag of his head which couldn’t help but notice how Jihun is still reserved even after opening up about his past. They were definitely more comfortable with each other but there were still times when Jihun unknowingly backed away. Sure, Seungjun completely understood that the other needs time to be able to completely get over his traumatic experiences, he IS a psychiatrist after all, but he still can’t help the feeling of disappointment residing in his heart.
“Jihunnie, have you heard that there is a new student in our class?”.
“Hmm? A new student in the middle of the semester?” Jihun asked, to which Seungjun gave an affirmative nod.
“I heard that he transferred from another unive-OOMPF”
“SEUNGJUNNIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”
Seungjun froze.
That loud, high-pitched voice could only belong to the one and only. And it was currently ringing in his head as the intruder held him in a surprise hug from the back. Seungjun remained frozen in shocked as a million question flew through his mind. Why is he here? Why is he hugging me? Why is Jihun looking so damn cute when he tilted his head in confusion?
“Ya, did you missed me? Why have you not call me for so long? I missed my Seungjunnie a lotttt” the intruder said as he continued his hold on the guy that was obviously flustered at the sudden turn of events.
“Seungjunnie why aren’t you answering me? Are you sick? What happened?” the unknown said as he busied himself with checking on Seungjun’s forehead for any tell-tale signs of a fever. “Aish…there goes the bell. Seungjun-ah, I have to go to the administration office to settle some admin stuffs. But don’t worry you will see me in class later okay?” With that the stranger gave Seungjun a huge smooch to the cheeks before floundering off towards the admin office.
“…hyung? Are you okay?” Jihun asked, deciding to speak up for once when the stranger had left them.
“Y-Ya, I’m fine. Just a little shocked I guess. Let’s go Jihun, we are going to be late for class.”
Jihun had a bad feeling about this.
“Class, we are having yet another new student. His name is Jeong Inseong and I hope that all of you will get along well together. Now, Inseong-ssi, how about you sit next to Heejun right there next to the window?”
“Ahh, I hope you don’t mind but can I please be seated next to Seungjun? I was hoping that he would be able to bring me around for a school tour since I already knew him before this and all,” Inseong said as he waved towards Seungjun. Seungjun gave a chuckle at the other’s antics before waving back from the back of the class.
“Sorry Inseong-ssi, but the seating was already arranged. I trust Heejun would be able to do an excellent job in getting you used to the school’s facilities.”
Inseong sported a pout as he looked sadly at Seungjun. Jihun glanced towards the taller sitting next to him and was surprised to see him pouting back while mouthing ‘it’s okay’ to the newcomer. Jihun thought the other looked sad that Inseong wasn’t able to sit next to him.
Then what about me? Jihun thought sadly.
He could feel the disappointment radiating off Seungjun as Inseong sat next to Heejun instead of sitting on the other side of Seungjun. Jihun could feel a nasty feeling choking his heart and he didn’t like it one bit.
Oh, Jihun has a REALLY bad feeling about this.
Jihun have had enough of the walking loudspeaker by lunchtime. He had interacted with Seungjun at every chance he got. Making eye contacts and whatnots. Jihun has NEVER been ignored by Seungjun before and he certainly did not like this feeling of neglect. The last straw was when Seungjun invited the newcomer to THEIR rooftop for lunch. That was the place where Jihun felt the most comfortable in the whole goddamn school and they have made a lot of memories there together and then this beautifully-bronzed, entertaining, hilarious guy is just going to come to their sacred place?
HELL NO.
He can go eat with the microphone if he wants to, Jihun thought as he excused himself from the duo. Jihun just have to find new friends to eat with since his only friend had decided to change boats. Pfft. No big deal. Except it WAS a big deal. How the hell was Jihun supposed to find new friends when he can’t even talk to a cashier without stuttering? Jihun had half a mind to turn back to the rooftop when he saw Inseong hitting Seungjun’s toned arms as they laughed at a joke only both of them would find funny. Nope. There is no way he’s going back there.
Jihun woke up feeling grouchier than ever the next morning. He left the campus alone for the first ti
