Chapter 9
This wasn't planned
Another week had passed and the next weekend had come faster than Taeyong had thought.
That Friday, he was having lunch in the cafeteria with his friends.
"Same place tonight?" Kun asked while looking at his phone.
"Yeah." Johnny nodded.
"I won't be there tonight, we're going to pick my father up at the airport." Taeyong said.
"Are you happy ?" Yuta asked him in an exaggeratedly cute voice.
"Yes... Everything's gonna be back to normal." He shrugged.
Doyoung scoffed. "Tae, we know you, it's not gonna get back to normal. At least not for you."
The other shrugged again as a response.
As they were going to class, Ten grabbed his arm as he usually did when he had something to say, which was almost all the time.
"Tonight won't be fun without you."
Taeyong chuckled. "It's nice... but as if anyone will miss me."
"I will."
The older stared at him. "You're lying.."
Ten had a small smile on his face and was looking back at him.
"You know I'm not."
Taeyong raised his eyebrows then adverted his gaze as they arrived inside of the amphitheater. "Anyway, text me if you go outside alone."
"Why ?" The younger cocked his eyebrow.
"Just do it... Please."
Ten smirked and sat down in the last row as usual.
"Why are you smiling ?" Taeyong frowned.
"Oh... Nothing... But you're the one who told me you wouldn't always be there."
-
Taeyong, Seunghee and their mother were waiting in the terminal for arrivals. Their father was supposed to be there soon. He eventually arrived after a 47 minute wait.
Taeyong felt more and more apprehensive as he was nearing them.
His mother threw herself in his arms and they kissed. He then hugged his sister who looked quite excited.
And eventually Taeyong. He felt his body stiffen the span of a few seconds under the man's touch. Then relax again.
"Ah...! It feels so good to be home !" His father exclaimed.
They arrived home around 10 PM and had bought Chinese food on the way. They could finally sit around the table and eat. They chitchatted and Taeyong felt relieved because he didn't have to actually talk.
But then, his father turned to him.
"So, how's it going ? Mom told me college was fine ?"
Taeyong nodded and hummed while eating his noodles.
"And you made a new friend ?"
"Yes !" Seunghee answered instead of him. "Ten. He's really nice, you'll like him."
"Why is it even a subject to talk about ?" Taeyong raised his eyebrows.
"You don't make friends that often, son. It's just like this girl... What's her name again ?"
His son frowned and looked at his food. "Chaeyeon..."
"And is she nice ?" Their father asked.
Taeyong didn't really like where this was going. He nodded slightly.
"Hm hm... Okay." His father smiled and changed the subject.
That was a relief for him because he didn't like to talk about girls nor with his friends neither with his parents. Seunghee was the only one he sometimes talked to but it was always her who started the conversation. And she knew how to make him spill the truth anyway.
They all went to bed early. His father was jet lagged. His mother was tired. And Taeyong and his sister had decided not to go out because their father was back and they didn't want to wake up too late.
Taeyong had taken a shower first but when he came back from the bathroom only in his boxers and his hair all wet, he noticed he had a message.
Ten - 11:32 PM:
I'm in the subway and it .
With a picture of him pouting.
"Ah ! So cute." Taeyong smiled. He then took a selfie and sent his response.
Taeyong - 11:33 PM:
And I'm about to go to bed so I can't be your driver, sorry..
He then put a shirt on and lied down in his bed. His phone buzzed.
Ten - 11:35 PM:
Don't catch a cold Mister !
Taeyong cocked his eyebrow.
Taeyong - 11:36 PM:
What do you mean ?
Ten - 11:36 PM:
Wet hair, no shirt.
"What ?!" His eyes widened.
Taeyong - 11:37 PM:
*dead*
Ten, seriously !
Ten - 11:37 PM:
What ?
I have to go, that's my stop.
Taeyong didn't comment further.
Taeyong - 11:38 PM:
Say hi to the others for me. Night !
Ten - 11:38 PM:
I will, good night !
-
The following day, Taeyong
