Oppa!

I Think I Am Falling for My First Love’s Best Friend

HyeYoung sipped water from the glass that had been given to her with a smile. She began to feel the moon necklace that Jaejoong had given her nights before. It felt so smooth beneath her small fingers. The waiter came by, asking if she was ready to order, but HyeYoung refused to and told him she was waiting for her boyfriend. That was what HyunJoong was right? The word left a strange taste to . She couldn't help but scrunch up a bit after saying it. Sighing, she looked up at the clock to see how much time had passed already. It had already been 40 minutes. She shook her head, trying to not think bad thoughts. It was probably that HyunJoong was stuck in traffic or that he was running late. It was probably just that. Besides he had something important to tell her, so that meant he would have to come no matter what.

[-Flashback-]

“HyeYoung”

“Hm?” HyeYoung turned around, seeing HyunJoong get off his car.

“Are you doing anything this Tuesday?”

“Ahni. Waeyo?”

“Meet me in this restaurant.”

“But-”

“I have something important to tell you.” He flashed that charismatic smile of his that could make millions of fangirls swoon. By the time HyeYoung opened to respond, HyunJoong had already entered the car and shut the door.

[-End Of Flashback-]

Her pink cellphone began to buzz over the table. HyeYoung grabbed it in seconds, hoping it was HyunJoong calling her or telling her he was running late. Something simple like that. She opened the flip phone and saw the image of a message with wings that indicated she had a new message. With her index finger, she clicked open to begin reading it.

I'm not going to make it.

-HyunJoong

HyeYoung clicked end and in the main screen she saw the picture of Jaejoong and her sticking out their tongue. She couldn't help but smile weakly at the picture. Jaejoong had always been there for her.

When she had needed him the most. HyeYoung had tried to do the same for Jaejoong but it had been difficult. Ever since she had started going out with HyunJoong, Jaejoong had slowly drifted away.

Unexpectedly, HyeYoung suddenly felt pathetic. She wasn't sad or heartbroken. There was nothing to feel bad about. HyunJoong just hadn't been able to make it today. That was all. Not such a big deal.

He probably had some event to attend. Being the star he was, he had a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders.

[-Flashback-]

HyeYoung laughed as Jaejoong tripped over a small stool in the store. He narrowed his eyes at her, “That wasn’t funny.”

“It wasn’t?” Her face was so red and she couldn’t stop the bursting laughter.

“Yah!”

Her eyes drifted to a camera store. A smile appeared on her face and she looked at Jaejoong. He followed her gaze and when he saw what she was looking at, he grinned. He pulled her in the store and took a camera in his hand. Before HyeYoung could ask what he was doing, he began to snap random pictures of her. She threw her hands up in the air to cover her face. He chuckled when he looked at the pictures he had taken. “Yah, you keep closing your eyes!”

“Well why did you randomly start taking pictures??”

He smirked and grabbed her phone.

Startled, she tried to yank it back. “Yah!”

He made a pouting face, “One picture, please?”

“Araso. Just one though.”

Smiling he placed an arm on her shoulder and put his face next to hers. The two of them stuck out their tongue at the sudden flash.

[-End Of Flashback-]

She stood up from the table and picked up her bag. Looking back at the other clients, she observed couples smiling at each other, being happy. With a sigh, HyeYoung walked out to call a taxi to take her home.

--------

HyunJoong sighed as he clutched his fingers around the brown mug. "Why are you here again Yuri?"

"Oppa, to see you of course!" The girl smiled as she clasped her hands together in joy.

HyunJoong couldn't understand this girl. Her honey-coated high pitched voice frightened him. "Well I'm here. And?"

"Aish oppa, so forgetful aren't you?"

"Waeyo?"

"Did you forget the deal that our managers made before our debut?"

"Deal...?" He couldn't remember the deal she was talking about.

"You never change oppa. Forgetful like always. Before we debuted our managers said that to get more publicity we'd start going out. For our companies to seem like they were collaborating together."

HyunJoong nearly fell off his chair in bewilderment. Had he heard right? "I--well..."

---------

Jaejoong fell back on his bed, tired. He shut his eyes and rolled around in his bed, unsatisfied. He had been avoiding HyeYoung for long enough now. He missed hearing her laugh and being socked playfully in his shoulder by her. Looking to the side, he glanced out the window.

There was nothing outside. But was it like that just because he wasn't looking closely? Because he wasn't going outside to take a good look for himself?

----------

HyeYoung tied her hair back as she walked over to the swings that were out in her backyard. They had been there ever since she was six. She laid her head against the chain that held the swing together. Her eyes slowly shut as she began to remember her childhood. Her past.

--------

Jaejoong jumped up off his bed. "Aish. I can't do this anymore." He grabbed his black hoodie and slid it on. He just had to see her at least once. Just once. Even if she didn't see him.

He walked out the door, bumping into Xiah. Xiah looked at him and asked, "Hyung, where are you going?"

"Xiah, I'll be back later. Tell the others to order in food. Pizza or anything."

"Araso. If they ask where you went, what do I say?"

"I'm just going to a friends house."

"Perhaps...HyeYoung?"

Jaejoong smiled and patted his shoulder. He then left the apartment to call a taxi.

"Where to ahjussi?"

"This address please."

"Ye."

--------

"But why?! I don't even remember that agreement!" HyunJoong exclaimed.

"Your manager owes a favor to mine and well long ago they made this decision. I can't change it. Besides it won't be for too long, just a year maybe."

"A year?!" HyunJoong brought his fist down on the table. "Aniyo! I don't agree."

"HyunJoong, there's nothing you can do. I can't even do anything. But I promise you that I'll try to be the best girlfriend ever."

"G-girlfriend?"

Yuri smiled as she leaned in to give him a kiss on the cheek.

HyunJoong had turned around and hadn't noticed Yuri getting closer to him. By the time he realized what had happened, her lips had already lightly touched his cheeks. "Yuri-shi!"

"Anyeong oppa!"

He shuddered once more after seeing her bounce away. Such frightening behavior. What he needed to do now was confirm everything. He needed to make sure that everything she had just told him was just a simple joke. It couldn’t be possible that his manager had made that deal. It was like as if he had just been traded, sold for the image of the company. Like as if HyunJoong weren’t a human.
