Chapter 8

Falling For You

After they finished registering, they headed out, Kayla was amused to see that Lejna had taken quite a shine to Kyu Jong she could tell she wanted to keep talking to him, but didn’t know how to.

“How about a cup of coffee before we leave?” You two up to it?” Kayla offered

Lejna’s eyes lit up, “Yes! Will you join us Kyu Jong?”

He nodded, “Ne, I would like to.”

They headed over to Starbucks, Kayla ordering a large cup of cocoa and Lejna and Kyu Jong both got coffee. They sat and Kayla watched as Lejna and Kyu Jong chatted, she loved the fact that they seemed to hit it off so well. Lejna was a very quiet girl, so she’d had a hard time talking to guys a lot, she didn’t really seem to have that problem where Kyu Jong was concerned and it was understandable because he made it so comfortable.

Kayla sipped at her cocoa, she missed that feeling of having someone you couldn’t wait to be around or see again. She could understand Lejna’s feelings about Kyu Jong, she’d gone through the same thing with Terrance, it felt so long ago though. She rested back in the chair, Kyu Jong watched and listened to Lejna so closely, so carefully, she had his full attention. Kayla sighed softly, he really was so nice.

Just then, her phone went off in her holster, she’d had it on silent while they were inside, knowing she wouldn’t have been able to hear it anyway. She felt the gentle vibration again and pulled it out, checking to see she’d gotten a new text message. Pulling up her threads, she saw it was from Terrance. Slowly she sat up, setting her cup down, tapping on the message; she waited a few seconds for it to load.

“Y r u not answering my clls?”

She narrowed her eyes, he couldn’t be serious. Just then, another message came through.

“I kno u r reading this, I can tell. Say something!”

Kayla stared at the message for a moment before closing out of it and turning the screen off, slipping the phone back into the holster. She wasn’t ready to talk him yet, just then she felt it go off again and then again, non-stop for about five minutes. Finally, her tolerance level at the breaking point, she whipped her phone out and shot off a quick message.

“Stop txting me”

A few seconds later, a call came through, it was Terrance and she sent it to voicemail. He called twice more before finally stopping. Kayla found it funny how suddenly he could call and text when wants to tell her how mad he is at her, but couldn’t do it before. Sighing, she looked up to find Lejna and Kyu Jong watching her intently.

“Sorry, did I miss something?” She asked, picking up her cup and taking a sip.

“No, is everything ok?” Lejna asked.

She nodded, not really but she wasn’t going to tell them that, they were enjoying themselves; she wasn’t going to ruin that. Kayla glanced over at Kyu Jong and stilled, he was watching her knowingly, as if he knew something was going on. Lejna’s phone went off just then and she frowned as she looked at it.

“I’ve got to go, my roommate just called and said one of our friends is having some sort of boyfriend issue and needs me, sorry.”

Kyu Jong shook his head, “Please go, your friend needs you.”

Lejna sighed softly, “Yes, I feel the same, see you Kayla,” she called as she stood.

“Bye, I hope everything is ok with your friend.”

Lejna waved bye to Kyu Jong and hurried out, Kayla looked back over at Kyu Jong who continued to watch her.

“It is too bad she had to go, she’s very sweet.”

“Isn’t she? She really is a great friend, her family is very nice.”

Kyu Jong nodded, finishing his coffee, “Should we head back? I’m sure you must be tired,” he said softly.

She was tired she realized suddenly, but she wanted to spend more time with him, but he had already stood and was throwing his cup out. Sighing, she stood and they made their way out. After practically forcing Kyu Jong to accept a ride home, they were off, both quiet. They arrived at their townhouses, said goodbye and parted ways.

Kayla headed in, feeling at a loss, she was emotional and lonely. She thought about calling Chanile, but decided against it, knowing she had to work and it was too late, not that she wouldn’t talk, she would and end up exhausted the next day. Kayla couldn’t do that to her. Quickly she changed and headed out to the kitchen to get a drink, when there was a knock at the door. Frowning she made her way over, not bothering to look to see who it was, she swung the door open and Terrance came barreling through.

“Terrance! What are you doing here?” Kayla said, her eyes widening in shock.

Terrance was staring at her and she slowly closed the door, watching him.

“I said what are you doing here?”

“Why aren’t you answering my calls?”

Kayla couldn’t believe this, “Excuse me?”

“I’ve been calling and calling and texting, you’re not responding and I want to know why? I don’t like being ignored Kayla,” he said coolly.

She couldn’t help but laugh, “Oh really?”

He frowned, “What does that mean?”

“Leave Terrance, I don’t want to talk to you right now.”

“No, I’m not leaving until I get some answers,” he replied firmly.

“Funny, you have time to stand here and demand answers, call and text me non stop, but you barely had time before. Isn’t that weird the way that works out?” She chuckled harshly.

“Just what the hell are you insinuating here Kayla? Huh?”

“Oh, I don’t know Terrance, you claim you’re so damn busy, you blow me off all the time, but when it comes to you telling me how rude and inconsiderate I am, you have all the time in the world. Even now, here you are barging into my home demanding answers and refusing to leave when a few days ago you left me at the in’ restaurant by myself. You make time when it comes to you being supposedly wronged, but for me it doesn’t matter and yet you want answers? Really Terrance?” Kayla announced.

“I told you I had to go, it was important,” Terrance, insisted, frustration clouding his features.

“And I had an appointment Terrance; I made a damn appointment to prevent that from happening. If I’d been anyone else, you would’ve stayed, in fact, it wouldn’t even have happened, you have so little respect for me? Not just as your girlfriend, but as a person to do that?” She stated softly.

Terrance sighed, “Kayla look, you know how important work is for me right now, you know this. I’m trying to build a future for us; it requires me to work long hours.”

“You wouldn’t have left anyone else would you? Would you Terrance?” She pressed.

He said nothing, just stared at her a moment before looking away and she sighed.

“Get out Terrance, I’ll talk to you whenever.”

“Oh, so you’ve dismissed me now that you’re done? You won’t let me say anything else?” Terrance said in agitation.

“You’ve said it all.”

“No, it’s just starting,” he said, taking a step towards her.

“I’m tired, later, just go.”

“No, I…”

“Hey, she said leave, I think you should.”

Kayla looked over to see Shane standing in the door, staring coldly at Terrance. Terrance turned to look at Shane, sighing before looking back over at Kayla.

“This isn’t done Kayla, this conversation isn’t over.”

“Well when you’re ready let me know, have Maria call me to set up another appointment,” she said sarcastically.

Terrance sighed loudly and turned, brushing past Shane and stomped out, slamming the door hard after him, the walls vibrating. Shane looked over at her and she gave him a shaky smile before turning and heading down the hall to her room. She stopped in the center, looking around blankly, her body shaking gently. What’d just happened? She’d never seen him act that way, that look in his eyes, so cold, he almost scared her.

What if Shane hadn’t come?

“Hey…Kayla?”

Slowly she turned to see Shane staring sadly at her. She looked at him for a moment before looking away and she felt him come up in front of her, pulling her into his arms gently, giving her a tight squeeze. She fought back tears, hugging him hard.

~~~
Kyu Jong turned the screen off on his phone and slowly closed the door. He’d seen Shane hyung come up and then heard the door slam, it’d been so hard, he could feel the vibration even in his walls, but all was quiet now, he must’ve gotten things under control. Kyu Jong had heard a raised male voice and quickly realized it had to be Terrance, he hadn’t felt right going down there to see if everything was alright, instead he’d sent a text message to Shane telling him he should come home. It wasn’t like Kyu Jong to pry into other’s business, but this had bothered him, he hoped Kayla wouldn’t be upset. He couldn’t deny the fact that part of him wanted to be the one to go down to her, he was still worried about her.
Something had happened earlier at the coffee shop, she’d been hiding something, he figured it had something to do with Terrance and it seemed he’d been right. He knew it wasn’t really his business, but he couldn’t help but care. Just what was that guy’s problem anyway? He didn’t appear to treat Kayla very well, it bothered Kyu Jong because while he didn’t know Kayla very well, she was a nice person and didn’t deserve this kind of treatment. He was starting to form an opinion of this man even though he hadn’t met him yet.
Just then, he was notified of a new text message. Turning his screen on, he tapped on it and pulled up his messaging threads to see the message was from Shane. He tapped the message to open it.
“Thnx for telling me, she’s ok, sleeping. C u tomorrow”
Kyu Jong let out a breath, feeling slightly better, he headed into his room.
~~~

Kayla was distracted all day at work, she could barely focus, she barely spoke to Lillian, she just wasn’t up to it, she couldn’t help but think of last night. She hadn’t expected him to come by, how could he do that and then act as if she’d wronged him somehow? Kayla didn’t know where they were supposed to go from here, what she did know was that she didn’t want to talk to him, couldn’t even stomach the idea now to even look at him.

She continued to fight back tears all day, she’d always been emotional, but since all this started, it’d gotten even worse. This was not how she’d pictured her relationship going with him. She couldn’t even say what their future was going to be, is this what she would have to deal with going forward? If so, she didn’t know if she could, relationships were work of course, but it shouldn’t be like that.

Kayla clocked out for lunch and headed out to her car to eat, she hoped Lillian wouldn’t take it personal since they usually ate together; she just wasn’t into it today. Kayla turned her car on, blasting the heater. Sighing, she took a bite of her sandwich and chewed slowly. She was at a loss, she really didn’t know what she should do, she needed perspective, she knew she couldn’t really talk to her friends; it never really worked out, who else?

She stilled, there was Kyu Jong, but could she really?  Kayla shook her head, no, she couldn’t bother him with this, it was already awkward enough the last couple of times, and she didn’t know how she’d been able to face him after. Kayla slumped back in the seat, she didn’t know him that well, she couldn’t keep spilling her guts to him that way, he probably thought she was disturbed. A slow smile spread over her lips when she thought of him making her tea and giving her those cookies she couldn’t stop thinking about, they’d been delicious. He’d been so considerate and caring, she hadn’t expected that, it would be so easy to get used to that, so easy. Kayla didn’t know if he should, could’ve just been a one-time thing with him, maybe he didn’t want to hear her issues all the time, but she did need someone, keeping it inside was driving her crazy.

Her phone went off, indicating a new text message had come through. Sighing, she turned her screen on and pulled her messaging threads up, expecting to see a message from Terrance but was surprised to see it was actually from Kyu Jong. Kayla tapped on it and read it.

“Hello, how are you doing?”

She blinked, this was unexpected, she quickly responded back that she was ok. He came back telling her he was on break and had been thinking about her, wanted to make sure she was doing well. Kayla smiled, that was very sweet of him, part of her wanted to tell him the truth, that she wasn’t ok, that she was confused and didn’t know what to do. To him she said:

“I’m ok.”

It was a lie, but she didn’t want to take advantage of his kindness. They were friends, but they were still new friends, she didn’t want to give him the wrong idea about her. All that said, she knew she had to do something, several hours later she made her way inside the townhouse. She changed and made a quick dinner of ramen before heading to the closet, she got out her easel, found her tubes of paint and her palette and set up in front of the window looking out. It’d been at least a year since she last painted; it was a hobby she’d picked up when she was younger. She’d taken classes for several years and was good, very good. Then she’d caught the acting bug and she stopped. Kayla knew she could’ve gone far but she didn’t have the drive for it. Now she did it when she needed to relax or think.

She finished setting up and sat, deciding to paint the skyline. She opened a new canvas and stated, she tried to keep at least two new canvases for when the feeling hit. She worked slowly and methodically, it was second nature to her, comfortable and familiar. A short time later there was a knock at the door, she stilled, the thought that it could be Terrance crossed her mind and it seriously made her consider not opening the door. Sighing, she stood, hesitantly she looked in the peephole, relief washing over her, she pulled the door open to see Kyu Jong.

“Hello Kayla,” he smiled, bowing.

“Hey you! Great to see you, come in,” she said smiling.

He came in and bowed again, “I hope I am not bothering you.”

“Of course not, come get warm, I’ll make you some cocoa, have a seat,” she announced, heading into the kitchen, putting the teakettle on and then looked around.

All she had were chocolate chip cookies; they weren’t half as good as those cookies he gave her though. Sighing, she set few on a plate and got a mug ready, pouring in a packet of cocoa mix ten got the bag of mini marshmallows out as well. Once the kettle started whistling, she poured the water into the mug, grabbing the bag of marshmallows putting it in then grabbed the plate of cookies and started out. She found Kyu Jong looking over at the canvas, his eyes swung to her as she came in and widened. He stood and quickly came over, taking the mug and cookies, setting them down.

“You should’ve asked for help, you didn’t have to do it alone,” he frowned.

Kayla pulled the bag out and smiled, “It’s ok, I do that a lot.”

“You shouldn’t, you could burn or hurt yourself. You need a tray,” Kyu Jong said, looking at her worriedly.

Kayla felt warmth spread through her, he was so kind and seemed to really care. He kept surprising her or maybe it was just because she’d gotten so used to mediocre affection these last few months that she was just super sensitive to it. She was sure he probably didn’t mean much by it, probably was like that with everyone. That said though, it still felt good to be on the receiving end of it.

“I will look into getting one for sure,” she smiled.

Kyu Jong nodded, “Please, I will worry otherwise.”

Kayla chuckled softly, “Aww, you’re so sweet K.”

He blushed and looked away.

“Sadly I don’t have anything like those delicious cookies you have, I hope you like chocolate chip,” she frowned, sighing.

Kyu Jong sat back down and nodded, “This is fine, thank you,” he said, giving her a small bow.

She smiled and motioned to the marshmallows, “I love those in my cocoa, so good.”

“What are marshmallows? Do you eat them then drink?”

“You’ve never had marshmallows?” Kayla frowned.

He shook his head, “Ani.”

“Oh wow, well try one first and see if you like it,” she suggested, coming over to sit next to him, opening the bag and holding it out to him.

He bowed with his head and reached in, grabbing one and carefully putting it in his mouth.

“What’s the verdict?”

“Mmm, very sweet, kind of gooey…I like it!” He grinned.

Kayla nodded, “Well then…”

She poured a heaping pile on top of his cocoa, “Try that, the heat will melt them and it’s so good.”

Kyu Jong looked at the mound and Kayla could tell he was hesitant.

“Just go for it, really, it’s good,” she promised.

He looked at her for a moment before picking up the mug, bringing it carefully to his lips, sipping.

“Mmmm…” he groaned.

She watched him closely.

“Mmm, very good,” he announced, pulling the mug away, a smear of marshmallow on his upper lip.

Kayla chuckled, “See, I told you.”

Kyu Jong smiled widely.

“You have some…” she gestured to his mouth.

“Hmm?”

“You have some on…your mouth, there’s some…” she gestured again.

He blinked, “I have some what?”

She reached out suddenly, rubbing her thumb along his soft upper lip and he stilled, his eyes on hers.

“You had some melted marshmallow on your lip there,” she winked, her thumb into .

She stood and headed over to the canvas and sat, looking back over at Kyu Jong who was staring out blankly.

“You ok K?” She asked.

Slowly he turned his head to look at her, blinking.

“K?” Kayla frowned.

He cleared his throat suddenly, looking away, “Mmm, yes sorry. It is very good, thank you.”

Kayla chuckled a bit, turning back to the easel, “So how’s it going K? What brings you by?”

“I wanted to see you,” he said softly.

She stilled, her paintbrush in midair. Slowly she turned to look at him, “You wanted to see me?”

He smiled and nodded, “Ne, I enjoy talking to you, I was worried too. I heard when Terrance came by, I wasn’t trying to and I don’t know what was said, but I wanted to make sure you were ok. I texted Shane hyung to have him come by. I’m sorry, I hope you are not upset with me for interfering,” Kyu Jong said quietly, bowing his head.

Kayla stared at him, he’d been looking out for her and here he was checking to make sure she was ok. She let out a shaky breath; she was overcome with the urge to hug him, tight. It took her off guard; she’d never had that happen, not since Terrance at least. She knew she should probably be upset over the fact that he’d contacted Shane, but she couldn’t bring herself to be, not when she realized he cared enough to do something, that and the fact that she had been scared, even a little of Terrance last night.

She must’ve been staring at him longer than she realized because he frowned suddenly.

“I am sorry Kayla.”

She shook her head, “No, don’t be please. I am most certainly not mad at you K I promise. Thank you for caring enough to make sure that I was ok.”

“Of course, you are my friend, I worry for you.”

Kayla turned her head to look out the window, trying to gather herself. A rush of emotion she couldn’t quite place washed over her.

“What are you painting?”

His voice was right by her ear; she turned her head to find his head right next to her right shoulder. He turned his head and looked right into her eyes, suddenly all thought left her as she looked into those warm brown eyes.

“Kayla?”

“Huh?”

“What are you painting?” He asked again, smiling gently.

“Oh…uh, I was going to do the…uhh…skyline…over there.”

Kyu Jong turned his head back, looking out the window, “Ahh I see, I didn’t know you paint.”

She shook her head a bit, “Yes, I used to a lot when I was younger, now I do so only when I’m stressed and I need to focus.”

“Mmm, so you’re very stressed then?”

She blinked and looked back at the canvas; Kyu Jong was quiet for a moment.

“I have always been interested in art and painting. One of my hyungs back home’s wife was teaching me how to paint and showing me all about art. They recently had a baby so she doesn’t really have time for me anymore. It seems very enjoyable,” Kyu Jong finished.

Kayla looked back at him, “I can help with that, I can teach you instead, help you learn, it’ll be fun. What do you say? I know you’re busy, so we can just do it when you feel like it or when you have the time.”

Kyu Jong smiled broadly and she found herself smiling back.

“Jinja? That would be really great, thank you.”

“Yeah? Good! Here, I have an idea,” she announced suddenly, standing and hurrying to the closet.

She came back with several things in her arms; she set them down on the table and motioned for Kyu Jong to come over. He made his way over to her and sat.

“Here look, this is an art kit, there’s all different kinds of mediums here,” she stated, opening what looked like a wooden briefcase.

Inside were various tubes, pencils, and such.

“I want you to use this and see what you think. Most artists have a favorite type of medium. Did you get around to figuring that out yet?”

“Ani, not really.”

“Ok then, take this with you along with these notebooks and start experimenting. Try some things out and see what you like. When you’re ready, we can look into techniques and styles, maybe go to a gallery when you have time and feel up to it,” she suggested.

Kyu Jong looked up at her, “You would do that for me?” He asked softly.

She blinked, “Of course I would K, why not? I think it’ll be fun. If it’s something you want to do and I can help, why wouldn’t I?”

He sighed and looked down, “I feel like I’ve done nothing for you though.”

“Who says you have to do anything for me? You’re my friend K, that’s plenty.”

Her eyes widened when he reached out, taking her hands in his.

“Thank you Kayla, it means a lot to me, you offering to help me like this,” he said, looking into her eyes.

Kayla could feel herself blushing, “Nothing to thank me for, it’s not a big deal,” she said shyly, her eyes drifting to their joined hands.

“It is, for me. You could spend your time some way else, but you choose to spend it helping me, I appreciate it and I’m grateful.”

She shook her head, “Stop that, it’s fine.”

He smiled and gently released her hands and she immediately felt the loss and frowned. She watched as he looked the kit over and then the paper. She stood, heading once again over to the easel and sitting. She stared blankly at the canvas, slowly she looked back over at Kyu Jong who was still looking the items over, she realized she wanted to talk with him more, more than she wanted to paint now. Kayla buried her face in her hands, it was getting bad. She needed to talk to someone, but there was no one, she felt like she was going to explode. Just then, her phone rang and she grabbed it, not bothering to see who it was first and tapped on the talk button.

“Hello?”

“So you finally decided to answer huh?”

Slowly she lifted her head, “Terrance…”

She looked over to see Kyu Jong lift his head to look at her.

“So we need to talk,” Terrance said.

Kayla shook her head, “I have nothing to say to you right now Terrance.”

“Oh, so we can only talk when you want to then, is that it?” He said coolly.

She rubbed at her head, “I’ve been trying for weeks to talk to…you know what? Forget it Terrance, just forget it ok?”

“No, you wanted to talk, I have time now, let’s do this.”

“No, in person, not over the damn phone Terrance.”

“Well I can’t do that now.”

“And that’s the problem, that’s always the problem.”

“I don’t see why we can’t just do this over the phone, what difference does it make how the hell we do it so long as it’s done? You’re purposely trying to make this hard so I look like the here,” Terrance said childishly.

“Do you even hear yourself? Seriously Terrance, is it so wrong to want to look into your eyes when we talk? To be near you, I hardly ever see you. This is about us and our relationship, I don’t wan to do it over the damn phone,” Kayla stated.

“Well I’m sorry about that; I don’t know what you want from me Kayla. I keep telling you I’m doing my best.”

“I want you to stop being sorry and do something, fight for this relationship Terrance, if you even want it,” she finished.

There was silence for about ten seconds.

“Sure Kayla, whatever. I gotta go, talk to you later,” he said.

The line went dead.

Kayla looked down at the phone and sighed, she could feel Kyu Jong’s eyes on her and she set the phone down and looked over at him, giving him a weak smile.

“Sorry about that.”

He continued to watch her quietly.

“So what do you think of the kit? It’s not very old so everything should be good still,” she rambled.

“Kayla, are you ok?” Kyu Jong asked gently.

She stared at him and said nothing and he moved down to the end of the couch, closer to where she was sitting. Kayla continued to look at him; she couldn’t bring herself to say anything. He tilted his head to the side, his eyes warm and comforting.

“You need to talk.”

It wasn’t a question, she winced, looking down.

“I am willing to listen if you feel like you can’t talk to anyone else, you can talk to me, I am here.”

It felt like he was throwing her a lifeline suddenly, she wanted to grab it so bad.

He nodded, “It is ok to Kayla, I am here.”

“He’s…he’s becoming colder, I don’t know what’s wrong with him. I’ve never seen him like this before. I somehow feel like I’m the bad guy here, he wants things done when he wants them. Everything has to be his way and on his timeline, but he always wants to take the easy way out,” she blurted out, she couldn’t stop herself now that’d he’d given her the ok.

Everything was just pouring out, she was helpless to stop.

“I don’t know what to do K, honestly. I’m so confused and angry. I can’t bare the thought to talk to him, let alone look at him. When he came over last night I…” she stopped.

“You what?” Kyu Jong questioned gently.

“I was angry; I didn’t want to see him. I was actually mad he was here. I wasn’t ready to see him and he forced his way in. I’ve been ignoring his calls and texts since the whole restaurant thing. He made some remarks I didn’t like, suddenly he has all this time to hound me about what I did and to tell me how wrong I was to do things the way I did, but didn’t have the time to talk about us.”

Kyu Jong sighed, nodding.

“Just now he wanted to talk over the phone, but I would rather in person and he said I was trying to be difficult and make him seem like he was being mean. When I told him he needed to fight for this relationship, he had to go and hung up on me. I’m so mad at him K, really mad. I don’t know when he became such a jerk, but I’m not liking it at all,” she finished.

“I’m sorry Kayla.”

“Why? It’s not your fault.”

“No, but you are in pain and that bothers me. He doesn’t seem willing to work on it; you’re trying your best. I can understand why you are so upset. I know you said you don’t know what to do but what does your first instinct tell you? You’ve already said it,” Kyu Jong stated.

“What, you mean not talking to or seeing him?”

Kyu Jong said nothing, just looked at her.

“I don’t know if that’s right, I’m supposed to be fighting for this here.”

“Yes, you are, but you shouldn’t alone. It is his turn now.”

She nodded, “Yeah, have him come to me for a change and it gives us both time to cool off and think.”

Kyu Jong smiled suddenly, “Ne.”

“Hey yeah, that makes sense. I know I’m too emotional to do much now and honestly I don’t even want to be bothered by him.”

He nodded.

“Alright, that’s what I’m gonna do then, I’m not going to say anything, I’m going to let him make the first move if he will and go from there. Thanks K, I appreciate you listening, it can’t be fun.”

Kyu Jong shook his head, “I do not mind, it’s what friends are for. You can come to me anytime, I am always here to listen or help if I can.”

“You are so sweet; I didn’t think guys like you existed anymore. Turns out you live in a different country,” she chuckled.

He blushed and looked down, “Ani, I’m just me, nothing special.”

“I disagree, you’re very special. I promise to make it my duty to make sure you realize it too.”

Kyu Jong looked up at her and gave her a soft smile.

a/n: Hey there all! Sorry it's taken me so long to update, had a lot happen in a very short time frame and well I wasn't able to write for awhile. Aside from losing a close friend of over 10 years unexpectedly which devistated me as she was the one I first started writing with over 10 years ago. We've written stories together and for each other, some finished, some not, that will probably never get finished now, I don't know that I could bring myself to without her. She was there for me during some of my darkest times and vice versa, she left two young daughters and to no longer have her here has been extremely difficult. I struggled with writing after, because in some ways, it sort of started with her, the fanfic portion of my writing anyway. I miss her everyday, she'd want me to go on though and keeping that in mind, I will continue to write. I recently developed an infection under my right arm that put me on antibiotics that have left me reeling and also developed to a trigger finger on my left hand which happens to be my writing hand, things have been crazy. Hopefully it won't be long for my next update, thanks for waiting!!

Another telling chapter, Terrance is digging himself to a deeper hole, he seems to not be aware or not care, whatever the case, it's not looking good. I feel bad for Kayla, she's at the end of her rope, or so she thinks and doesn't know what to do. I have to ask, what would you do? It seems like such an easy thing, but you may be surprised if you stop and think about it, it may not be as easy as you think. Again we see Kyu Jong step in even though initally it's from far away, he's slowly becoming more involved and he's disturbing Kayla's world gently. I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback and comments always appreciated. Welcome to all new subscribers, I hope you enjoy the story and please feel free to comment!

Until next time!

Chapter 36: I haven’t been on this platform since 2015, and just got back into SS501 after a dream I had of their comeback (still waiting) and Kyu Jong’s real IG postings. I really hope the boys are doing well. I don’t know when the next chapter will come but I just binged 12 chapters of this fanfic, and I’m so excited for the SK adventures. Rooting for Kyu Jong and Kayla! Thank you keeping this story alive <3

Chapter 36: Yippee! Just in time for my yearly update! 😂 By the time we're all done the real Kyu will be married with a child going off to college 🤭 Looking forward to SK & meeting the gang. Oh boy, hope Kayla isn't too frightened at first 😆. I'm sure Kyu will warn them to be on their best behavior. Which will last about 5 seconds. 😉

Chapter 35: OMG 😱 jumping up & down, squealing. YES,!!! Kyu on the move. Baby steps, well perhaps we're in the toddler phase, moving forward, sometimes a bit wobbly & unsure but moving steadily. I've so missed these 2 & I'm so happy I poked my head in & found your update. I can't wait for the trip. Vacations bring you closer to your travel buddy in ways you wouldn't otherwise. Sometimes you share hotel rooms but really it's that you're constantly together. Taking in the same exciting views & sharing of delicious food, how can your bond not get closer

Chapter 2: I like him…. He seems thoughtful and empathetic. I love that he came to her performance for opening night and made her feel seen. That’s a powerful thing to do for someone who’s passion has been disregarded by those you love

Chapter 1: I had assumed that the male lead was an OC too- don’t know why I made that assumption- but since I still have no sense of who he is I’m going to continue to read it as such. It’s truly the best way to enjoy a story, and this one seems to be like that so far

Chapter 34: Finally gotten around to reading the latest chapter, and I must say... GOOD RIDDANCE! Hated that bastard since the beginning, so I am pleased that he's gone now. Still pecking around the makeout scene I see, but I can wait (I think). Well, now that Terrance is out of the way we can have bonding time between Kyujong and Kayla ;) though, I've been wondering if there will be any fans recognizing Kyujong? Or paparazzi? I know, US and Korea are different but the thought still comes to mind. Great chapter, so glad I had the opportunity to read it :)
