Chapter 1

Falling For You

Kayla Jacobs powered the computer down and stood up, walking the files over to the cabinet and quickly putting them in the right order alphabetically. She put everything else away before  heading down the hall to get her coat and boots.

“Is it spring yet?” Her co-worker Lillian moaned, walking past her into one of the examination rooms before coming out a short time later with a stack of charts.

Kayla grinned, “A few more months and it will be.”

Lillian snorted, “Feels like years, winter hangs on here, I hate it. I’m moving back to California, I’m not cut out for this kind of cold and all around nastiness,” she grumbled, heading back to the office.

Kayla followed, “You’ve been saying that for the last two years,” she chuckled.

“Yeah well I’m waiting until you feel comfortable here.”

She raised an eyebrow, “It’s been five years.”

“Right, I think you’re almost there,” Lillian winked.

Kayla laughed, pulling her boots and then coat on.

“I’m leaving these files here for Liz tomorrow, please remind her to sign them, she keeps forgetting,” Lillian sighed.

Kayla nodded, “I will, how many times did you tell her that?”

“Too many, she does so much she can’t possibly keep up. She’s gonna run herself ragged one of these days and it won’t be pretty.”

Kayla flicked the lights off just as the doctor came out, a stack of files in his hand.

“Have a good evening ladies, drive careful,” he said.

“You can just leave them, we’ll take care of them tomorrow,” Lillian said as she pulled her coat on.

“No problem, you go on ladies.” Dr. Shaw smiled.

They punched their cards and headed out.

“I’ll see you on Thursday Kayla,” Lillian said, waving as she headed to her car.

“See you!” Kayla called, and made her way carefully to her car.

She had to hurry home and change and get a quick bite to eat before she headed to rehearsal.

Kayla lived with her brother, had since they moved out of their parents house seven years ago, they had still been in college at the time and it’d been cheaper to do it that way. Now they were ready to move on though, Shane was looking into getting a house of his own and leaving the townhouse to her. There was a separate room above that came with their townhouse that was pretty well furnished with a few small things already that neither used for some reason. Kayla told Shane he could just move there, but he insisted on staying with her since he didn’t want her to be alone in the city.

They were originally from upstate NY, but had moved to the city for college while their parents had stayed. A few years after, their parents had divorced, their Mother stayed upstate, but their father had moved to Florida and while he got along  with Shane, she wasn’t so lucky.

Things with her father were rocky at best, he didn’t really approve of her career choice and had tried from the beginning to control what she did, down to the college she went to and the classes she took. It’d been his dream for her to be a doctor, a surgeon to be exact. It was the last thing Kayla wanted though, she was into theater and the arts, her father felt this went no where and tried to forbid her from having anything to do with it. Kayla stuck to it though and compromised to become a medical secretary, still medical but more admin, which she loved as well. Her father had no choice but to go with it, but took every chance he could to make digs about it or embarrass her in front of his friends or hers.

Nothing she did since was ever good enough, he tried the same with Shane, but had been way more accepting of Shane’s career choice as an album director/producer for Sony Records. Because of all of that, she rarely spoke to her dad, it usually resulted in a fight and him telling her she was doing nothing with her life and going nowhere. She’d invited him to some of the musicals and plays she’d been in while he was in town to visit, but he would never come.

Kayla pulled into the driveway and hurried in as fast as she could  without sliding on the icy ground. Unlocking the door, she made her way in and started towards her room.

“Kayla! C’mere!” Shane called from somewhere.

“Not now, I have to get dressed and get something to eat before I head out to rehearsal,” she called out.

“Ok, well we’re in the kitchen anyway.”

We? Who was we?

Shane was always bringing  people from his job home to hangout, he met a lot of celebrities and singers and she’d met her share of famous people, not all of them were nice either. It was never quiet for very long in their townhouse, but Shane was respectful about it, never brought anyone really late or really early.

She changed clothes quickly, stuffing a towel and a few other things in her duffel bag before heading back out, setting the bag on the couch and hurrying into the kitchen to find something quick she could have to eat. She yanked the fridge door open, scanning through.

“How was work?” Shane asked from behind her.

“Eh, it was ok, kind of slow, a snow storm the first week of the new year is a bit inconvenient,” she said, her voice muffled.

“Mmm, well there’s someone I want you to meet.”

Kayla grabbed a couple small containers of yogurt out and turned to see Shane standing there with another young man who looked to be her age. He looked to be Asian and had the kindest, gentlest eyes she’d ever seen, he exuded warmth and calm and Kayla instantly felt at ease. She blinked and he smiled suddenly and she felt it all over, she couldn’t help but smile back at him. He had a beautiful smile, friendly, inviting, he was tall, thin and even though he seemed at ease, she could detect underlining tones of cautiousness and reserve, even a bit of nervousness.

“Kayla, this is Kyu Jong Kim, he’s here on a work exchange from South Korea,” Shane explained. “Kyu Jong, this is my younger sister Kayla.”

He gave her another soft smile and then bowed, “Hello Kayla, I am Kyu Jong, it is nice to meet you.”

She blinked again, did he just bow?

“Uh…hi, it’s nice to meet you…uh…uh…I’m sorry I don’t want to say your name wrong,” she frowned.

“It’s Kyu Jong, Kyu sounds like queue for a line, or like…like a cue ball,” Shane explained, grinning.

“Ahhh ok, I got it now, sorry,” she smiled apologetically and offered her hand and Kyu Jong shook it gently, she noticed he held his wrist with his other hand as well, was he hurt?

“I thought we could give him the room above us to stay in since he’s going to be here for a while,” Shane suggested, heading over to the fridge and grabbing a carton of orange juice and drinking straight from it.

Kayla watched as Kyu Jong watched in confusion and slight discomfort, “Don’t mind him, he has no manners, we’re convinced he was raised by wolves,” she smirked.

“Hey!” Shane frowned, wiping at his mouth with the back of his hand.

Kyu Jong looked over at her and chuckled.

"Well welcome, make yourself comfortable here, our home is your home, literally. How long are you here in America for?”

“I will be here for a year,” Kyu Jong explained.

She nodded, “Cool, well I hope you have fun, there’s a lot to do and I think you’ll enjoy yourself. Sorry but I have to eat and run, it was nice to meet you,” Kayla smiled.

She hurried around him to get spoon from the drawer, tarring the paper lid off one of the yogurt containers.

“C’mon Kyu Jong, I’ll help you to get settled upstairs and then you can relax,” Shane announced, tossing the now empty juice carton in the garbage.

Kayla finished the one container then started in on the second just as Kyu Jong made his way past her, stopping and bowing again before heading by. Kayla stared at him, spoon halfway to , she watched as he bent down, grabbed his suitcases and carry  and followed Shane out the door.

She shoved the spoon in , she couldn’t shake the feeling of curiosity for their new roommate, it was too bad she didn’t have the time to get to talk to him more. Kayla threw her now empty away before heading into the living room. She pulled her boots back on along with her coat, grabbed her duffle bag and headed out.

~~~
Kyu Jong watched as Shane opened the door and walked in.
“Come on in, welcome to your new place! Feel free to make any changes you need so it feels more like home,” Shane smiled.
Kyu Jong looked around, the place was huge, way more than what he was used to. He was way more nervous than he had been on the flight, he was actually in America! It’d always seemed so far away to him, a whole other world, to think he was actually here and would be living her for awhile was intimidating. What made it harder was he was alone, not that he minded being alone normally, but not so much in a foreign country where he knew no one. Luckily for him Shane hyung had offered this townhouse for him to stay in.
Initially he’d planned to stay at a hotel for a few weeks while searching for an apartment, he’d been surprised when Shane offered for him to stay there when he’d told him his plans on the way back from the airport.
“The layout is the same as ours downstairs. The bedrooms are down there through the hall, there are two so feel free to have company over if you want, the walls are pretty sound proof,” Shane grinned.
Kyu Jong blushed, he couldn’t imagine having anyone over, it seemed disrespectful to them.
Shane chuckled, “I know that’s probably not what you’re used to, but the offer stands, you never know who you may meet. We’re pretty laid back about that kind of thing anyway, so don’t worry about it.
Kyu Jong blushed even harder, feeling even more embarrassed.
Shane chuckled again, “Here’s the kitchen obviously, let me know later if you need to go out shopping, me or Kayla should be able to give you a ride to the store so you can stock up. I’m probably gonna order in tonight anyway, so feel free to come down later to join me once you get settled if you’d like,” he offered.
He bowed, “Thank you hyung, I appreciate that.”
Shane blinked.
“Sorry, hyung means older brother in Korean.”
Shane’s eyes widened, “Oh! Ok, well no problem, nothing to thank me for. And don’t worry about being formal, you can call me Shane or…hyung or even hey you, I answer to pretty much anything,” he laughed.
Kyu Jong chuckled and bowed again, “Thank you.”
“Sure, alright I’m gonna let you get settled and relax, come on down later if you want,” Shane said as he walked by. “I’m gonna make a spare key for me and Kayla for here in case you ever get locked out and also for emergency purposes to hide somewhere incase we’re not here and it happens. I’ll leave you this one here and we’ll get the spare ones made the next time we go out,” he explained as he opened the door.
Kyu Jong gave him a smiled as he left, closing the door behind him. He looked around, feeling slightly overwhelmed, he started down the hall and picked a room and went in. The room was fairly large, with a queen size bed in the middle. He wheeled his bag over and set his carry on down  before slumping down on the bed, trying to let the days events sink in.
He flopped back on the bed and sighed loudly, he was exhausted, his internal clock was all thrown off. It was early evening here, but back home he’d still be asleep, he felt disoriented and discombobulated. Yawing loudly, he slowly sat up and slid off the bed and started to unload and unpack his bags.
Monday he started his exchange with Sony, he’d come to America to look into releasing an English album and to better improve his English over all. He decided not to say anything to anyone not involved, but planned to try to work hard on his acting as well, looking into getting cast as in extra in commercials and the like, anything  where he could improve his skills to help him when he went back home. He was even considering looking into some acting classes, brush up a bit. He hadn’t done too much since finishing his military duty, a few musicals, a couple dramas, most he didn’t even have major parts in as he didn’t feel ready yet. He wanted a gradual return, but he also wanted to go back to basics. Kyu Jong  was also intrigued to see how things were done here.
After putting his things away, he headed back out to the living room, he definitely wanted to do some shopping and pick up a few things, he’d brought some things from home as well and took his time to set them out. After, he headed to the couch and sat, feeling slightly lost, he looked around the unfamiliar surroundings and part of him wished he was back home, this was too much. He hoped he hadn’t made a mistake by coming here, everyone seemed friendly enough though, no one looked at him any different. He’d seen a lot of Asian people since getting off the plane, but it was different for him to see so many foreigners. He’d traveled all over Asia with his group before going on hiatus, but they’d only been here to America a few times and not for any extended periods of time though and it’d been LA, he’d never been to New York City before. It did remind him of Seoul in a way, and that somehow brought him comfort amazingly.
Deciding to take a shower before going down to meet Shane, Kyu Jong headed into his room, getting a change of clothes out and headed into the bathroom.
~~~

“Ok, let’s take a quick break for ten and then we’ll start Act II,” the director called and everyone dispersed to their bags or out to the hall to get a drink.

Kayla headed over to her bag, opened it and took the towel out, blotting at her face before grabbing a bottle of water out, uncapping it and taking a deep drink. Their first performance was in a few days and while Kayla felt ready, she was also scared she always got like that close to opening night, not that she minded. She enjoyed the adrenaline rush she got, nothing made her feel as good as when she was onstage performing. There was no way she could ever stop, regardless of how her dad felt. One of her fellow cast mates came over and sat next to her.

“Hey there, is it me or does he seem to be worse than usual?” Lejna sighed, taking a drink from her bottle, giving the director a slight glare.

“He’s always like this before out first performance, you know that,” Kayla grinned, finishing her water.

“Yeah but, he’s even worse than normal and that says a lot for him.”

Kayla nodded, I guess he is, not sure why, he never has a valid reason for most of the things he does anyway, you know that too.”

Lejna snorted softly, “Yeah well we should have some explanation as to why he’s torturing his more than usual. Wow, I hope this doesn’t become the norm,” she frowned.

“Ok everyone enough, come on back!” The director yelled.

Everyone groaned and he stared at them coldly and everyone quieted immediately, heading to their places. Lejna gave Kayla a scared look before standing and heading over quickly. Kayla chuckled and stood, putting her towel along with the now empty water bottle away in her bag before making her way over.

A few hours later, she made her way in to see Shane on the couch with Kyu Jong who looked to be heavily involved in something on TV.

“How was rehearsal?” Shane asked, his eyes never leaving the screen.

“It was ok, the director was even worse than usual,” Kayla sighed, pulling her boots off.

Just then Kyu Jong looked over at her and smiled sleepily, “Hello,” he said.

Kayla grinned, “Hello, looks like someone is tired. Shane let the poor man sleep, he looks ready to pass out, you know there’s got to be a major time adjustment for him,” she frowned, hurrying past. She heard Shane apologize profusely, the TV was silenced and she heard them talking. She grabbed a change of clothes and headed into the bathroom for a quick shower before coming back out fifteen minutes later.

Making her way back out she found Kyu Jong still there and Shane talking rapidly while Kyu Jong struggled to keep his eyes open. Shane could be so oblivious sometimes, it wasn’t even funny. Rolling her eyes, she hurried over and smacked Shane on the back of the head.

“Ow! What the hell?!”

“Shane, stop talking and let him go, he’s half asleep!” Kayla announced, looking over at Kyu Jong who looked sheepish.

“It is ok hyung, no problem,” Kyu Jong said softly.

“Yes it is, you’re tired, you need sleep. Let him go Shane, Kyu Jong you go ahead to your place, I‘m sorry for my brother here, again, raised by wolves, I‘m telling you,” Kayla sighed.

“You’re so mean,” Shane frowned, rubbing at the back of his head. “Go on man, sorry for keeping you, I tend to get so focused I don’t even realize.”

Kyu Jong smiled again and stood, “It’s ok. thank you for letting me come down and share dinner with you.”

“Anytime,” Shane smiled.

“It was nice to see you Kayla,” Kyu Jong smiled sleepily, bowing.

She smiled back, “Likewise.”

He headed towards, giving them both another bow before making his way out.

“He seems really nice,” Kayla said, walking into the kitchen.

“That’s cause he is, I’ve heard from people who’ve known him for years that you won’t find anyone nicer,” Shane said, stretching and yawning.

“So why is he here?” She asked, opening the fridge and grabbing another yogurt.

“Work study, wants to study the music business and how it’s done here,” he explained.

Kayla turned to look at him, tarring the lid off and getting a spoon, “So he’s going to be a producer like you?”

Shane shrugged, “Maybe, I don’t know that he’s decided yet.”

She nodded, “I see.”

“But hey, I was hoping you could help him out for a day or two when you’re off and I’m at work, help him to adjust and get settled? I of course will when I can, but it’s not always possible outside of work. You won’t have to do much, but I know it’s gotta kinda be overwhelming being in a foreign country.”

Kayla nodded, “Sure of course, I can during the day, but I have my final rehearsal tomorrow before opening night and then the show on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.”

“No problem, I should be available in the evening most of the time for a few hours until he gets acclimated.”

“Ok then.”

“Tomorrow is your early day right? You’ll be home at three?”

She nodded, “Yeah, when I get home I can head on up and see if he needs to get anything done.”

“Thanks, was going to do that tonight as well as get a few spare keys made for him and for us for emergencies, but as you can see he was too tired,” Shane said matter of factly.

“Yeah, you didn’t help.”

“It’s not like I did it on purpose, he’s an amazing listener,” Shane defended.

Kayla rolled her eyes, throwing the empty container away before walking past him and into her room.

The Next Day…

“Have a seat, we’ll call you shortly,” Kayla smiled and then shut the small door. Putting the file in the pile that still had to be seen. “Liz did you sign those files Lillian left for you yesterday?” She asked, typing on the keyboard in front of her.

“Yes, I can’t believe I forgot, I’m usually so on top of things,” Liz sighed.

“You do too much, we’re here, we can help you know, you don’t have to do it all, we keep telling you that.”

“I know, but I’m only here a couple days a week, I feel like I  have to make up for it.”

Kayla chuckled, “It’s not about how much you do, everyone knows how hard you work, stop worrying so much, you do great.”

Liz gave her a thankful smile, opening the small door again to greet another patient. Kayla started packing up her stuff to get ready to leave.

“Opening night is tomorrow right?” Liz asked as she got up to pull another file.

Kayla nodded, “Yeah, our final dress rehearsal is this evening, we’ll have a small one right before tomorrow, but it’s real quick so it almost doesn’t count. When I go home I have a few things to take of with our housemate before I head over,” Kayla finished.

Liz looked over at her, “Housemate?”

“Yeah, Shane brought someone from South Korea to stay with us for a year while he does a work exchange.”

Liz blinked, “A work exchange? So some stranger is staying with you guys?”

Kayla shrugged, “I guess so.”

“Is that safe?”

She laughed, “I think so, he seems pretty harmless, actually, he has these really warm gentle eyes. He’s a bit guarded, but he kind of radiates warmth in some odd way, besides, I have Shane there, I‘d let him know if something happened,” Kayla said.

She hadn’t spent any decent amount of time with him, but her initial reaction told her he was a good guy, she tended to believe her gut instinct, at least this time anyway, for some reason she wasn’t worried.

“Well still, be careful, you never know, there’s a lot of nut jobs out there, seriously,” Liz sighed.

Kayla nodded, “Don’t worry, I will be.”

“So…is Terrance coming?” She asked hesitantly.

It was Kayla’s turn to sigh now, “I don’ know, I told him about it, but he didn’t give me a definitive answer.”

He never really did, Terrance was like that, always busy now, never had much free time for anything. Liz stared at her a moment before turning back to the computer, saying nothing. It was no secret that Liz didn’t like him, never had, Kayla didn’t quite get it, but Liz was always cordial to him, almost painfully so, it bordered on cold. Terrance seemed to sense it and always tried to be nice to her, but she wouldn’t budge. Lillian on the other hand was a bit different, Kayla could tell she didn’t care for him too much either, but she was more open towards him than Liz.

Kayla stood and headed to the back room to get her coat . She’d known Terrance Hartland over ten years, had dated for about three of those ten years so far. Everyone expected them to be together, they’d been best friends all through high school and that had been odd in itself.

Terrance had been popular in high school, captain of the football team, had a million friends, all the girls wanted him for their boyfriend. He was also in the drama club, it’s where him and Kayla had met and became friends somehow. Kayla hadn’t been popular, not really, she had friends and all, everyone knew who she was, but it wasn’t like it was with Terrance. So she’d been surprised when he’d become friends with her, would talk with her in the hall, say hi to her during lunch, he never didn’t acknowledge their friendship. Eventually they became inseparable, she’d been there through failed relationships and him for her. Everyone expected them to start dating, but it wasn’t until after high school and college did that happen.

It was different back then, he had been different. He’d loved acting as much as her and had both talked about going on Broadway one day, had even moved here to NYC together, but about a year ago his families hotel chain had taken off and everything changed. His mother who’d always been decent to her, suddenly starting finding fault with their relationship. Making little comments and digs about her job and wanting to act, she was a lot like her father in that way. His father practically demanded he give up acting and join the hotel business, instead of sticking up for he loved like Kayla did, he’d actually went along with what his parents wanted and stopped all acting to work along side his father. Kayla had been hurt and stunned, knowing that wasn’t where his heart laid, but he’d insisted they were right and it was good for him.

After that things slowly started to disintegrate, he became busier and busier, their dates grew shorter and shorter until they were practically non-existent. His mother went out of her way to keep him from her, telling him things work related kept coming up, pulling him away from the few dates they had, always finding some ways to belittle their relationship in comparison to the family business. Terrance never did anything to help or defend her, sadly Liz and Lillian had witnessed it time and time again when he would come into the office and cancel dates or lunches they were supposed to spend together. He’d always bring her something to eat, but rarely ever stayed. He never found it odd that something work related would always come up when they had plans, always felt it was some weird coincidence but Kayla new better so she tried to stay far away from his parents as she could, his mother in particular.

So as it stood now, she didn’t know if he’d be there tomorrow or not, she was figuring no. It wouldn’t be the first or last premiere he’d miss and it wouldn’t be the last thing he’d flake out on. Kayla loved him though, wanted what was best, so she tried to be understanding, but it was hard.

Kayla pulled her coat on and headed back into the office.

“Ok I’m leaving Liz.”

“Alright, good luck tomorrow, I’ll try to make it if I can but I’ve got a family reunion tomorrow, so I don’t know if I can. Who has a reunion in the dead of winter? My family, that’s who,” Liz sighed, rolling her eyes.

Kayla grinned, “It’s ok, you’ve been to plenty and you can always come to another show if you want to later. See ya!”

She waved bye and made her way out.

~~~
Kyu Jong placed his now empty suitcase in the closet and shut the door. He’d spent the whole morning unpacking and reorganizing, he’d also gone online to order a few things for the townhouse. Sadly since he didn’t have his license for here, he couldn’t go out shopping, he wanted to take a taxi, but was a little nervous abut doing so, he didn’t want to get lost. He’d wanted to go out with Shane hyung last night, but he’d been so tired, now he was hungry and had nothing to eat, that wasn’t good.
He loved to eat and when he couldn’t, it hurt. He’d have to it up and go out and hope he didn’t get too lost. He wished hyung was home, but had to work and since Kyu Jong didn’t start until Monday officially, he was at a loss.
Gathering up a change of clothes, he headed into the bathroom to take a quick shower and fifteen minutes later he made his way out, rubbing at his hair with a towel before starting towards his room when there was a knock at the door. He frowned in confusion, he wasn’t expecting anything or anyone. He tied the strap on his robe tighter and headed towards the door, unlocking it and swung it open, his eyes widening when he say Kayla there, smiling softly at him.
“Hi Kyu Jong.”
He blinked, he could feel his face burning.
She grinned, “Looks like I got you just out the shower,” she said, taking in his robe, damp hair and towel slung over his neck, “Sorry.”
“Ani, come in,” he said, stepping back to let her in before closing the door, stopping the cold air that had been rushing in. “Sorry, I didn’t know you were coming,” he stuttered.
She nodded, “I know, sorry about that. I know there isn’t a phone in here and from what I understood, you don’t have a cellphone to use here yet, so I figured I’d just come up,” she explained with an apologetic smile.
“Ahh ne, well no problem. I was just going to get dressed.”
She nodded, “Ok.”
“Uh…one moment please,” he said and hurried off to his room.
He came back a few seconds later with a pair of slippers on his feet and also set a pair down in front of her.
“Here, so your feet don’t get cold.”
She blinked, “You didn’t have to do that, I was just going to stand here. I just wanted to tell you something, I was going to go back down to wait after, you didn’t have to go through so much trouble.”
“Andwae, it’s fine, please come in and warm up,” Kyu Jong smiled.
Kayla looked slightly confused, but followed, pulling her boots off and setting them to the side before slipping her feet into the slippers. Kyu Jong motioned for her to go in and she made her way past him.
“Please sit, I’ll be right back,” he announced, hurrying into his room. He made his way in and shut the door, leaning against it, breathing hard. He couldn’t believe she’d seen him in his robe, it wasn’t right.
Quickly he dressed and made his way out to find Kayla sitting on the couch, she turned to look at him, giving him a smile.
“Hey there, I’m really sorry to intrude like this.”
He shook his head, “No, it’s ok, I was just getting ready to try to head out, I need to try to do some shopping.”
“Ahh I have perfect timing then. Here, sit ok?” She said.
Kyu Jong made his way over and sat, giving her a cautious smile, he wondered what she wanted.
“It’s funny you should mention going out, that’s why I’m here actually. I wanted to see if you wanted to go out and do some shopping for your place here and groceries and the like. Shane said you two were going to go out last night but never got around to it,” she said.
His face lit up, it was perfect.
“Jinja? I don’t want to keep you from anything.”
“Jin what? And you’re not, it’s my early day at work, I don’t have rehearsal until later, so it’s no problem. It’s better than taking a taxi, that’s too expensive and they’ll rip you off if they know you’re new to the area. Ok, so we’ll go, if you need to finish getting ready that’s fine, I’ve got to head down and change clothes anyway so we can meet there.”
“Oh, I’m ready, I can head down with you now, I just need to get my coat and boots on,” he smiled, standing.
Kayla nodded and stood as well, heading back over to the door, she slipped the slippers off and moved them to the side and then put her boots back on. Kyu Jong went to the closet to get his coat, he followed her out, locking the door after them. They made their way down to her place, he followed her in, standing off to the side. She pulled her boots off and he followed suit.
“Sorry, I don’t have any slippers for you though,” she frowned, starting down the hall.
“It is ok, I have socks on, I hope that’s ok.”
She came back down the hall, “Yes of course, not a problem,” she said slowly, watching him as if she was trying to figure something out.
Kyu Jong looked at her and gave her a small smile, he wasn’t sure about her, he didn’t know what to think. It’s not that he felt uncomfortable around her, just a bit lost for some reason. After a moment she turned and headed back down the hall to her room. He let out a breath and turned looking out the window, he hoped they got done quick, this whole thing was making him nervous now, forget uncomfortable.
His stomach growled and he rubbed at it.
“Aww you’re really hungry huh?”
He whirled around to find her smiling at him sympathetically and he winced, smiling a bit.
“C’mon, we’ll eat first then go, I’m hungry too,” she winked, heading towards the door, pulling her boots on.
They quickly dressed and headed back out.
Chapter 2: I like him…. He seems thoughtful and empathetic. I love that he came to her performance for opening night and made her feel seen. That’s a powerful thing to do for someone who’s passion has been disregarded by those you love
Chapter 1: I had assumed that the male lead was an OC too- don’t know why I made that assumption- but since I still have no sense of who he is I’m going to continue to read it as such. It’s truly the best way to enjoy a story, and this one seems to be like that so far
Chapter 34: Finally gotten around to reading the latest chapter, and I must say... GOOD RIDDANCE! Hated that bastard since the beginning, so I am pleased that he's gone now. Still pecking around the makeout scene I see, but I can wait (I think). Well, now that Terrance is out of the way we can have bonding time between Kyujong and Kayla ;) though, I've been wondering if there will be any fans recognizing Kyujong? Or paparazzi? I know, US and Korea are different but the thought still comes to mind. Great chapter, so glad I had the opportunity to read it :)
